looking for Loop clarity

John, may I ask where this official list comes from? I only ask because, as I understand it, at least a couple of these rules have been expressly overturned.

Shan,

It was on our paperwork from August 08 (last trip).
Golf cart Paperwork says Revised 6/30/2006 says no pets on electric vehicles.
Check-in paperwork (bill) says the others.
Some may have changed since then.
I have heard that they were going to allow pets to be alone inside your motorhome, but not in a tent or outside.

Which ones have have you heard changed?

Every time that I go to FW, I see these being ignored on a regular basis (usually by the same groups of people).

Sad, but true. And unfortunately a few irresponsible pet owners ruin it for the rest of us pet people that are responsible and courteous when it comes to our neighbors.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised last month. During our 3 weeks there we ran into no cases of overly yappy neighbors and almost no "stray" poo on the dog walk or in the dog park. That hasn't been the case in past years.

Well this looks like a clear violation to me!!!!

Worse than that... there's a giant pile of poo(h) on that cart! :lmao:

- Guests must be with their pet whenever it is outside of the motor home.
- Pets must be on a leash or tether, no longer than eight feet at all times. This includes Pet Loops and Pet Paths.
- Pets are not permitted at the Comfort Station or Recreation areas.
- Guests are responsible for cleaning up after their pet.
- Pets are not allowed in pop-up trailers or tents."

No other rules or guidelines are mentioned (except those specific to the dog park).

Interestingly, it says specifically that pets are not allowed in pop-ups or tents period. No mention of that only being the case when you're not at your site.

Also I can attest to the fact that since the opening of the dog park a year ago, leashed dogs are now allowed on golf carts and on paths/sidewalks leading to/from the dog park. The only areas still off limits are the recreation areas (trading posts, marina, pools, etc.), comfort stations and other common areas - and there are signs there indicating this.
Of course someone will fight to the Finish thier arguments of

I have a fifth wheel, pop up, tent so they can be out alone- Pets must be on a leash or tether, no longer than eight feet at all times. This includes Pet Loops and Pet Paths.

So I can leave him outside unattended instead because its not a Motor Home

Yeah, I'm a little surprised about their choice of wording there.

Regardless, many reports are that Disney isn't very good at enforcing their own pet rules. And I've seen dogs on carts at the trading posts and other areas they aren't supposed to be. But those would be those "special people" the rules don't apply to... :rolleyes1

Oops,

Sorry, the rules I quoted were from an August of 2006 Bill not 2008.

The 2008 bill shows the same rules that were quoted by BradyBz12.

Does anybody else that was around before the Camping Community Board feel a bit of DeJa Vu....aahhh Good Times,,,,,,,,,I'll be across the street if anybody needs me..

Monique, thanks for the elucidation, that is the list of rules I remember. Also, I was not warned of any pet prohibition regarding golf carts.

Wish I could find/remember where I read that leashed dogs actually were allowed on carts now... but no such luck. :confused3

We rented off-site, so I can't speak to what the FW cart rental agreement currently says.

If they are not allowed out of the loops or on carts, how do they expect them to get to the dog park. Last time we were there we took dog on cart to the dog park. Passed security and they just waved. Dog is golden so she couldn't hide on cart.

I asked security and he said yes they are now allowed on carts, but only on roadways and the loops. Not at the trading posts or the rec areas.

Only got this info from security so it may or may not be correct.

Exactly. And they have been putting up new signs pointing the way to the dog park in places dogs weren't previously allowed (outside of the pet loops)

Here is a scan of the Golf cart rules that I was referring to:
Like I said, these were from 6/30/2006 so I'm not sure if they are still the current ones.

I was given this sheet, when I told them that I was bringing in my own cart. I was told that the rules also applied to me.

I also found this at Deb Will's site. Looks like you may be right about the rules changing now.

Does FW allow pets?

Yes. In fact, Fort Wilderness is the only pet friendly resort on Disney World property. Request a pet site when making reservations. Pets are allowed at campsites in loops 1600 through 1900, 300, 700 and 800, but must be kept in those areas. Depending on the season and demand, Fort Wilderness might also temporarily designate certain loops as pet loops. There is an additional charge of $5 per day.

Fort Wilderness also has the fenced-in, leash free Waggin' Trails Dog Park: 'Where dogs on vacation can "Lose the Leash"'! The park is located next to the playground at loop 300, but all the pet loops have access to it by way of the designated paths. Currently, Disney doesn't have these on their maps, but they will hopefuly include them soon. All the paths are marked with signs, so you can easily find your way to Waggin' Trails. Leashed dogs are also allowed on the golf carts now, making the park even more accessible. It is open from dawn to dusk, and has several watering stations where the bowls are self filling. (Note: if they haven't been used, the water in them gets very warm, so you will want to get it to fill again with cool water.) There's also a picnic table where you can relax while your dog plays. Dogs must be accompanied by guests age 12 and over at the park; no unaccompanied dogs, puppies under 4 months, or dogs in heat are allowed. Use of the dog park is limited to FW guests staying in one of the designated pet loops. (See the photo section for a sign with all the Waggin' Trails Dog Park rules.)

Owners are expected to clean up after their pets in all areas. There is a receptacle to deposit pet waste, as well as collection bags with which to pick up the waste, located at each of the entrance/exit of the pet loops. Collection bags are also located between sites #1632 and #1634 beside the path to the comfort station, at the entrance to the pet walk in loop 300, and in the dog walk area next to the kennel
