We will be visiting Hershey Park sometime between Agust 4-Aug 10 and looking for info.
Is anyone aware of any coupons on park admission that can be found in the area or on the internet as they dont seem to have many deals on there web site.
WHat else is there to do in the area besides the Theme park.
And any tips in regard to the park, good places to eat, strategies once inside the park to get on the coasters in a timely manner, how are the shows inside the park and any advice that anyone has that they think would be helpful so we can get the most out of our one day visit to the park and another day in the area.

Can't help you with the discounts. When we went, you could get in the evening before for free with a full price admission. Our parking receipt from the preview night was good for use the next day as well.

There are SO many things to do in that area!!!

Amish Country
Pretzel Factory Tours
Many other tours (Google York County Factory Tours)
Strasburg (sp?) Railroad
Railroad Museum
Corn Maze near Strasburg Railroad
Eat dinner with an Amish Family
Indian Echo Cavern

What are the ages of your group?

We just got back from a weekend camping trip to Hershey so maybe I can help.

For discount tickets, check the website for Giant Food Stores and find the closest one to where you are staying. http://www.giantfoodstores.com/?CFID=30496382&CFTOKEN=16002596&jsessionid=1c303eae8440e5165504TR They sell discount tickets at their service counter. If I remember right from the the last time I was there, the adult tickets are 40.95. I don't know if that is cheaper than you have found elsewhere but it's worth a shot.

To be able to ride the bigger roller coasters with the least amount of wait, get there as soon as the park opens that day. Ride Fahrenheit first followed by Stormrunner, and then Great Bear. After those 3 are out of the way, stroll around the park at your own pace and ride what you want.

Your park tickets will also get into the park the night before for a few hours before closing. If you are able to do that, you could ride some of the smaller rides the night before and save your full park day for the bigger rides along with the water park and zoo they have there. Those both are also included with your admission.

The waterpark has a lazy river, wave pool, water slides and a big section just for the little ones. You can do the zoo in about 1.5 hours if you take your time and just don't rush through.

There is also Chocolate World USA for free. It's a ride through a simulation of the Hershey's chocolate factory. My advice is not to do this first thing when you get there but to head out of the park and do it when you need a break.

Take advantage of the preview - you get in free a few hours before the park closes if you buy a ticket for the next day. Here in NJ, there are coupons at dunkin donuts, and you can buy discounted tickets in hershey at giant. You can't bring in food, and the prices are insane (and I'm 20 minutes from NYC, and used to high prices for food). There is a waterpark, so try to wrap up as much water and food as you can in towels! I agree with a PP to ride the big coasters first, working your way towards the back, and then coming back.

Thanks for the helpful info.

How far away is the closet Giant food store to Hershey Park?? The tickets are $51 on the web site.

The nearest Giant store is about 1 mile from the park - in Hershey. we passed it on our way to the park, following the signs. 1250 COCOA AVENUE , HERSHEY , PA 17033

I noticed you're from Milwaukee. Are you driving? If you have any questions a fellow Wisconsinite can answer, let me know. :thumbsup2

If you are thinking of going to the park more than one day, that have a 2 day ticket that is a better deal than the Giant one. I think it's $68 for a two day pass, so about $35 a day. The Giant tickets are $41 for a day.

I've also heard the trolley tour of the town is a hoot. It came highly recommended when I asked about Hershey things to do.

There's also a new museum about Milton Hershey in town. There's an antique Car Museum close by on rt 39. Indian Echo Caverns was neat. It's in Hummelstown off rt 322.
Places to eat outside the park? Closest is Red Robin and Wendys. Also Applebees, Bob Evans, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, KFC, and a family diner place called Cocoa Grill. Friendly's is off 422.

I'm about 2 hours away (in the Poconos) and every Burger King from here to Hershey (and some even more north towards NY) have discount coupons for the park. We got $10 off our tickets when we went last week. Have fun!

Hello to my fellow Wisconsinite, thanks for the offer, for this trip we are friving to Toronto first then hitting Hersheypark on the way home which is a little out of the way but gives me a chance to hit a theme park.

We only have one day so (sadly at least for me)we will do as best as we can.
And thanks w/the info for cheaper tickets and other things to visit in the area.

Any good eating options inside the park??

Local Subways also had some coupons in the store. good for $8 off admission in august and september. there is also a $1 off coupon for the 3D movie at Chocolate World and $2 off Dutch Wonderland.

We drove there last week and spent only 1 day at the park. Could've used another day, but did get to see a lot anyway. You'll have a blast. :thumbsup2

There are quite a few restaurants in the park w/ many different offerings. Traditional park food that was good.

I live about 45 minutes away from Hershey. Inside the park is the normal park food. There is a sit down (looks kind of fancy) restaurant, but I have not personally eaten there. At chocolate World ( which is free for the most part )there is a food court with all kinds of good stuff.....go to the ice cream stand and get a chocolate milk shake...it is like no other chocolate shake! Now I want one! Outside of the park I would suggest Red Robin, if you don't know what that is , it's basically every kind of burger you can imagine...my husband always gets the Royal burger ( has egg on your burger )! Also right next to the park where Red Robin is there are some outlet stores. Have fun!!

Just got back from Hershey.. theres a AAA discount on tickets which is pretty good... get there early!! It seemed like everyone was showing up around noon.. and the lines are much shorter first thing or "rope drop" as they say.. and also they don't make people walk quickly at "rope drop" they actually let them run.. and some of the people were very aggressive about it.. :headache:

Food is very expensive.. we packed a lunch to save money and ate outside of the park.. theres also Chocolate World.. outside the park entrance.. just a shopping area and has a fake factory tour ride that shows you how the chocolates made.. no tickets required for Chocolate World so thats a nice place to cool off and stuff mid-day...

there was a thunderstorm in the area when we were there and they totally shut down the whole park.. it was pretty bad but they really watch out for that stuff..

and bring your bathing suits for the Boardwalk area.. part of your park ticket.. its the new waterpark.. it has slides and a lazy river and stuff

no Disney but it is a very nice little area
