I was hoping I could get some opinions from those of you that have an intimate wedding planned.

My SO and myself have been living together for 12 years now and have 6 children. Although I have been married before for a short time I have had no desire to get married again until recently. SO has always wanted to but hasn't pressured me since I see it as a piece of paper and if it isn't broke don't fix it. Well I was thinking that doing at Disney might be the ideal plan for our life. The kids would be involved and it is more for them than it is for me. No flames please.

Now where do I start planning? We were thinking Oct of 2008 since that was when we were planning our next WDW trip. My parents are already planning on joining us for vacation at this time and we'll ask SO's parents also. Do kids count towards the location maximum? I would love Sunset Pointe but with our kids it's six of the eight already.

Kids do count. I know, it stinks, but they do. So I think Sunset will be out for you but make sure you ask your EM.

For an October 2008 wedding call this October, they won't let you set it up until one year out.

Hey there!! I just wanted to say that you never have to worry about posting anything here-- you will very rarely-- if EVER find a flame-- and those that do flame probobly dont frequent this board often! So never feel as though something you post might make you look a fool! We all have our questions.

Sunset point is only open seasonally-- mainly in the colder months (they close it because it just gets too hot during most spring and summer months)... However Sea Breeze Point and the Yacht Club Gazebo are nice comparitive alternatives if you cant get married during those times of year.

Here is a place you can look so it can better help you choose a site

I know you have your heart set on Sunset Point (as most all of us brides do).. but you can have more people at other locations-- which is something you might want to consider looking into!!

Good Luck and happy planning!!:goodvibes Congrats on having 6 beautiful kids and a wonderful SO.

I think it would be a wonderful event for you to share with your kids. It couldn't be more perfect!

As some others have mentioned, kids do count toward your maximum of 18 guests. Hopefully you only have 12 members of your family who you would invite! And yes, unfortunately sunset point is out because of the max. The Wedding Pavilion will cost you an additional $1000 on top of the regular intimate pricing. WHat we've narrowed down is that with 18 guests, we have to choose between the Boardwalk and the Yacht Club. I think we're going to go with the Yacht club if we can get our date.

Good luck and keep us posted if you have any more questions!

Thank you for your quick replies.

I'm working on a prelimanary budget so I thought I'de check way in advance so I know how much I have to save up. I just think it sounds like fun and this way we can just get away with our kids and parents and not even let anyone know until we do it. Do you have to do a lot of planning? Looking over the wedding site it looks pretty basic. I would love to just pick everything out and just show up.

you have to do minimum planning. Once you get your date, then Disney do pretty much everything else - you just make your choices from the selection given (ie flowers, cake, music) and WAIT for it happen (that's the hardest part!!!) Good luck!

This is one of the best parts, there's only as much planning as you want. With an intimate you can stick with the package and be done planning in one day! There are some add-ons or other options, but definitely easy planning!

That would be a great surprise for the family!
