Looking for guidance on this waitlist issue

I recently was able to reserve a 5 night Aulani June stay by stalking constantly and adding one day at a time. I even had an open waitlist for one of the days I was able to reserve on my own. Since I have 5 different reservations, I noticed that I have a lockoff for 1 night and a dedicated the other 4 nights. I did create a waitlist for that one night. But IF I am able to find it on my own with stalking, is it a better idea to cancel the night, and the waitlist and try on my own?

I always keep the waitlist, even when I stalk the website. Because DVC does not have a way of showing us a waitlist is matched but waiting to be processed, we have no idea, without calling, if there is a room already there.

It will show waitlisted until that CM actually processes it. So, I never cancel it until I have what I need or I have gotten my second choice resort. And, it has happened so many times that I do, and my first choice pops up as soon as I did. That tells me I did have the room, but it was just there waiting.

So, I ended up grabbing it back!!!

yay! I was hoping you would reply Sandy. So if I find it on my own, will it ask me to release the points or just replace the existing reservation? I am in a borrowing point status and do not want to borrow more.

Just modify the one night you want to change when stalking. A waitlist doesn’t hold points. It only pulls them when it books.

So you should be set.

Are the lock-off and dedicated units specific booking categories? Can't you just call DVC and have them combine the 5 days into one reservation?

Yes..they are seperate booking categories. I would be able to combine under 1 reservation but have to obtain the same room category first. ( I think

Oh shoot! Good luck swapping it out. At least it's not in the middle of your vacation. Worse comes to worse, you can move the 2nd day.

It would be on night 2.. Hubby said he is not moving, no way! So if it doesn't come through we have a backup place to stay elsewhere as crazy as that sounds and I would be renting my points
