Looking for feedback re: Capt. Marvin

I'm looking at Capt. Marvin' s short excusion. It looks good for four novice snorklers and three Stingray chickens. (The other two of us are none so sure about it either!)

Has anyone done this? The length of time seems perfect for us. Can people stay on the boat to see the stingrays? Also, can my younger kids just swim if they don't feel like snorkeling? I'm not sure how they will do snorkeling. Is it easy to get on and off the boat into the water?

capt marvins of course, and i'm sure theres more, each offer roughly the same thing , nativeway currently have a special offer for cruisers and do a stop at the sandbar and a stop at coral gardens for snorkelling , yes you can stay on the boat if you chicken out and they have water / punch as refreshments, nativeway will also drop you at 7 mile beach after if you want but you make your own way to the ship around $4pp by taxi
it's very easy to get on and off the boat and you can definately still see the rays even if you don't get off the boat but i'm sure you will
all get great reports and use much smaller boats than dcl so not as much crowding. have a great time.

We did the 3 hour tour with Capt Marvin on 7-8, it was great. there we 4 of us, 3 experienced and 1 afraid of the water. She had a wonderful time in the water but was not that thrilled with the stingrays. On the long tour, which is 3 stops, Capt Marvin actually runs the boat & he will be 88 in the next several weeks. Whatfun. Yes, you can just swim they have life vests & they throw out a life ring so people can just hang on. They have a ladder at the back of the boat to get on, you jump off. We could have spent the entire day there & regret we did not book a tour at our next stop.

How early can you book this since it is not a DCL excursion?

We booked ours around 5 months in advance. They're super nice people.
