hi all-
i am a fellow disney lover and have taken quite a few trips over the years. now i have rugrats of my own and we are enjoying a whole new experience with them in tow.

anyway, we are planning a trip for later this year, and a friend of mine mentioned the ability to rent DVC points from members. i am interested in doing this - and doing so quickly as i want our plans ironed out. can any dvc members out there who have rented out points give me some feedback/advice in beginning this process.

also looking for advice/feedback from non-members who have successfully (or unsuccessfully :-( rented from a member before.

THANKS! :goodvibes

First of all, go to the rent trade board http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=30&f=29 and read all the stickys at the top. Then come back here and read as much as you can all of the other 3 DVC boards. That will help you figure out what it is all about, and then you can either post your needs on the rent trade board, or ask more specific questions here.

You can certainly save a lot of money on great accommodations in a “Disney Deluxe Villa Resort” (Disney Vacation Club) by renting a reservation direct from a DVC member rather than making the reservation with WDW reservations (aka CRO).

However, please be sure and educate yourself on how a DVC reservation is very different from a regular hotel reservation, and the basics of “renting points”, as it is often referred to.

See: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1669863

Then, you should read the "sticky" posts at the top of the DVC Rent/Trade board which explain how to post on the Rent/Trade board.

Thanks for posting your thread, Mike! I was just looking for it to link here!

thank you all very much. i have been doing lots of reading and researching. i also appreciated the link to the earlier thread from mike. the differing opinions were very articulate and helpful. that is why boards like this one are so great - it is nice to get opinions from a variety of people.

as someone who is new to this, i think i have a lot more homework to do!

:)
