My Husband and I have decided to go to Coral World on our own. I have already looked at the site and thought it looked pretty interesting. Has anyone on the Dis boards been to Coral World? I would love to hear some feed back and see ant photos you have taken there. We are also going to play on Coki Beach next to Coral world? Is this beach crowded?

My DD and I went to Coki Beach and Coral World on our January 2002 trip and really enjoyed it. I don't know how to post pictures, but the place is very nice. We saw 4-5 iguanas roaming the plaza area. There is a large dome that actually goes under the water, so when you are looking at the fish swimming by, they are actually in the sea. There were several smaller fish areas, a nice selection of birds, etc. Look for dicount coupons either on-line or in the tourist magazines which you can find near the port area. The taxi over was $6-7 per person each way. Coki is a very pretty beach which was not crowded when we got there, but got more crowded as the day progressed. It was never too crowded to enjoy. Coral World will give you a stamp or band that lets you go back and forth. We prefered their bathroom to the one at Coki. They also had fresh water showers which was nice before going back to the ship. We rented a lounge chair, which the guy brought over to us for $5 for all day.

NCRedding,
Thanks for the quick response. Are the showers the kind you can take a complete private shower in. or are they the kind you just basically rinse off in with other people around you?

Teri

Private showers with curtains--I am not a fan of the "jr high gym" showers"--these were acceptable to my private self.

THANKS!!! I guess I will pack the shampoo than.:teeth:

How hard is it to find a taxi back to the ship? Is there food or beverage stands near by? This sounds like a great option for my family.

Thanks!

There are taxis waiting at the bottom of the gang way. They are an adventure--basically they are rows of seats attached to the bed of a truck--no sides or seatbelts. They wait until they have a full load before leaving. You can also find vans with seat belts and A/C--just a little harder to find than these. we ate lunch in Coral World--decent, but somewhat overpriced. There were food stands at Coki, but I am not sure how nice or clean they were. Some people order sandwiches from room service and pack a cooler with their lunch.

Is renting a car possible? If so which rental agency?

Thanks, this is our first cruise and I'm getting very nervous!!!!!
