Okay, let's talk California Grill.

I was chatting with Alan and he told me you could watch Wishes there from the observation deck. HUMMMm..... hadn't thought of that.

SO I called, they have basically 5:40-5:50 times left or 9 pm - but BUT... here is what the CM told me. As long as you eat there that evening, they invite you to come back and watch the fireworks from the observation deck that night - just show your receipt for entry.

SO - what get done about 7:30-

With two small kiddos, I don't know how much sense this would make. It tell you I'm tempted because Mia HATES 4th of July. She HATES loud noise & fireworks. I want to see wishes & illuminations this trip - but I don't know if it is worth the trama.

Okay so on Nicolas' birthday, we have a 7:55 at Chef Mickeys. Is there anywhere else in the Contemporary that we could watch the fireworks after that meal? Wishes is at 10 pm - that night. Spectro is at 9.

Or, are we better trying to catch it anther night.

Oy vey! I can't even bear to think of this! I don't know of any good books, but if you find one, PLEASE let me know! Ally turns 8 this month and she is starting to ask questions too. She still thinks that the dr cuts a baby out of the stomach, and I'm okay with that for now... But she also got caught with her little friend when they were talking about playing "the gross game." All I know is that they talked about this while they were changing clothes together playing dress up and they said not to get dressed to play the "gross game." Luckily the other mom overheard them and stepped in. It just kills me that Ally knows the word "sex" but doesn't really know what it means yet. She knows that it's when a boy and girl are naked together and kissing. At least that is how she explained it to me. I of course told her it's when a husband and wife are together. That's as far as we've taken it.

So cute that she was afraid of a baby just suddenly popping up though. It's scary what kids are seeing on TV any time of day now. You can turn on a rerun of Friends at 5pm and see two people in bed together.

So last night I ran to Target and got a tiny camera case for Jeff to clip on his belt, and I got two gold pillows that are perfect on the couches! I think I'm gonna stay away from the slipcovers for now.

And yes, I do run back and forth after reading y'all's suggestions!!!

While we were at Target, there was a family with a screaming 3-4 year old. I mean tantrum screaming. The parents just ignored him. For 20 minutes of this. We could literally hear this kid from all over the store. People were giving them dirty looks the whole time because this was just ridiculous. At one point the mother walked him down the toy aisle very sweetly saying, "no, you're being ugly so you don't get this today...." while the kid just screamed and stomped, etc. It was AT LEAST 20 minutes cause that's how long we were there. The dad just pushed the cart and ignored him, and the mother just walked along holding his hand, and sweetly talking to him. I'd have sweetly taken a hand to his hide!!!! Seriously, what is wrong with people???? Even Ally kept saying, Mommy, they need to spank him for acting that way!

You know, with people getting arrested for spanking in public, it is really hard to discipline kids the "right way." I'm glad I'm not doing it. I can tell you that my "psychology degreed almost teachers" don't have a clue, but they're doing what they learned in school. That is until they lose patience, then they scream and intimidate him into submission.

I could go on all day, but I know people are taught these days to ignore it and it will stop. That hasn't worked at all here. The mom in the store wasn't following "the rules" because she was reasoning with the child. That's what I try to do. Doesn't work. My kids did so much better with a quick spanking - it actually made Mark happy that someone was in control - I think he was a little ADD, and it made him feel safe.

Hiya all -thanks girls - will look up those books - we need both - the puberty issues and the s - e - x ones are starting to come up a lot lately...... I guess she's growing up and thinking about it more.....

Oh, and Happy birthday to Lauren from this side of the pond too.... you had a nice baby - born in the afternoon!!! Mine were 6.01am and 1.21 am - I'm just waiting for the teenage years when I can wake them up and shout HAPPY BIRTHDAY to them....

We were talking about birthdays the other day, and discovered my eldest will be 12 on 12/12/12 - wonder if that's a good luck omen....

Oh, over here we call that a "Golden Birthday." Very special - don't know what we do, but we talk about it!

Tessa - that is so strange. Nicolas was born at 1:21 am too! What are the odds of that?

Tammie - I hope you are feeling betteer. Yes, kids wreck a house. We now need new carpet, paint, etc. But... I'm giving it a few years or else I will just be redoing it now to redo it again soon.

Tessa - first off, I laughed so hard at the babyoil comment for Kara! And ARE YOU KIDDING ME? AT 8. That is like 3 years for me! I'm so not ready for this at ALL!

Laura & Cammie - I'll get those books in the future. I'm so not looking forward to this. I sware though, I figured you had to be at least 10-12 before those sort of questions came up!


HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LAUREN! So what cha doing today?

Well - I got a call from Nicolas' preschool teacher yesterday. She wanted to know if I was going to send him to Kindergarden next year. He is a May baby and the youngest in his class now. He does very well academically, but he talks a LOT and demands a LOT of attention from everyone. It honestly is his personality. WELL, seems she said he can't complete assignments without needing to tell her something or such, so she is wondering if he will need to repeat K for the maturity, etc.

That was a tough talk. I mean, I would hold him back, but at 4 now he weighs 58 lbs, is 4 feet tall, wears a size 6 (some 7's) clothing, and a 2 1/2 shoe. He is BIG. Can you imagine if we hold him back a year how big he will be next to the other kids? Carlos said it is the wrong way to look at it. He said he may be ADD - I don't think so honestly. I think we've just let him get away with interrupting us to much. We need to crack down on that.

Anyway, just not a fun talk.

1. If you wait until 10 or 12, they will have already been "educated" by the other kids in the class. 7 or 8 is the usual age to start understanding a little about these things without getting too detailed. I found that just answering the question they asked at maybe 7 first, then sharing "the book" at about 8 worked. They didn't want to hear anything else after that! We did have discussions about respect, etc. later. Our book was "God's Good Gift." I don't know the author. I gave it away at some point.

2. I agree with Debbie- good thing since she's the teacher! I wouldn't hold Nicholas back based on preschool behaviors. He may catch up over the Summer, or by half way through the year.

Debbie - Sorry! I complete missed this post until I saw Tammie quote it!!!! I may take you up on it. I was just blown away that she called me to talk about it. Especially since we just talked a few weeks ago and she seemed to say the OPPOSITE! That he wasn't the most outgoing, but not the shy one either - and that he just really needed to work more on Penmanship - which I so agree!

I just can't see holding him back.

Speaking of the difference 6 months can make - we had our first soccer practice last night. It was AMAZING how much more he was focused - how much more control he had - and how much more he loved it! He did GREAT! I was so proud!!!! SO much change from last year - and what - the season ended mid-Nov.

You can watch it from outside by the lagoon but I am not sure about inside. You CAN NOT give up your Chef Mickey ADRs! You will be right there and if Mia gets upset someone can walk her back inside.

So sorry i have been MIA this week has been crazy .. Amongst all normal craziness we also had a fashion show at Chloe's school, then to the theatre to see Giselle, Brass festival in which chloe's group won the gold trophy and now am in middle of trying to get her ready to go away for the weekend with the guides until sunday when i have to pick her up for my brothers engagement party .... The things my daughter could do so young! Wow! Now I would say she is bright but right now on the average side.
That is great Mia is doing that. My Matthew doesn't do half as much as his sister did.. It IS a girl thing though IMO.

I always laugh though because I AM NOT SAYING THIS IS YOU LORRIE but I would get such a kick out of parents who would tell me their kids were "gifted". I would just think to myself it's because you have nothing to compare it to necessarily. Most of the time they were just on the bright side to average but it was cute. Once in a while we would just about die because we would be about to go into a conference to tell a parent that their child needed a little extra reinforcement in the class and they would begin the conference asking us how we were going to challenge their "gifted" child......
Believe me there are gifted kids out there and EARLY readers. It's hard to say until they are tested and their scores are off the charts. Plus a lot of kids seem to jump ahead but then come back together around third grade. I know this isn't what you were asking Lorrie but it got me reminiscing back to my teaching days.

As to your question...Elizabeth did things like that very young and Matthew did/does not.

Nicolas was very behind her. I don't think he really started talking well until well after his second birthday. I don't know if I have shared this before, but Nicolas I would hope to say is average academically - he has his moments, but I'm realistic too. Well, long story short, we had ABO pathological jaundice and his levels got so high we almost have to transfuse. There was some questions since his levels were so high that it might have affected him. So I was more thinking - my gosh, if Mia is normal -- he was WAY behind her. I don't think he got his ABCs down really until mid last year - 3 1/2! Anyway, I was just a little more curious about him.

I had this conversation with Carlos - and I started with - SEE women are smarter! I seriously think he is okay though - surely one of his teachers would have mentioned if they thought not. I think his issues are more does he want to do or does he feel like listening sorts - not that he has any problems - but you know you have to think about it as their mom.

PS - I have a friend who I barely talk to anymore because she drove me nuts about how "gifted" her kids were.

Yeah....we always worry that we are doing something wrong or not making the right choices! I hear ya! I bet he is just fine but if you want to call or email me just let me know. I can also give you a run down of what IMO are kindergarten expectations (entering). It also depends on your schools kindergarten curriculum but seriously you DO NOT hold back kids because of maturity if their academics are up to par. It doesn't make sense. There will be kids in his kinder class who have August birthdays!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. We have our first game tomorrow and I've got to plan out (STILL) the party for next weekend. I have ordered the cake at least! Mia's favorite food is spagetti - so there you go!

We did come to a decision about the dining plan. Carlos really REALLY wants to do the deluxe - so I'm letting him have this battle. There really honestly is very limited difference between the two once I factored tax & drinks in - like $24! So I can see his point - $24 for three mugs, appetizers at TS plus 21 extra snack credits. He vetoed breakfast in the room - which made it make more sense. Said it is vacation - and he wants breakfast. He doesn't eat breakfast - just apple & coffee during the week.

We're having a date night AGAIN - don't know what to do with myself. 1 1/2 hours with no kids

I might have me two drinks tonight.

It may be Monday before I get to catch up - as long as Carlos is willing to watch the kids - I'll be cleaning all I can for next week.

Great music but my ears hurt because it was too loud. LOL. I think we are coming down with something too. No one as re to move today.

It's gloomy here! It was gorgeous yesterday and now it is super rainy and gloomy. Went to JC Penny's and spent too much money. We had a 30% off and I justified all of it because we need clothes for warmer days.

Laura..I hear ya! I feel like an old lady all the time but I am always joking that I am going to start conditioning myself again to go out more!
