Looking For Control Freaks & Worry Warts too........ Part 2

Thank you all sooo much - you're all so sweet - It's weird that I've really grown "attached" to y'all after such a short time.

Well, it's done, and my heart is breaking. DH came home a little after 4 today and we left for the vet, both of us crying off an on the whole way. The weird thing is that Bella ran to the front door when DH came home and she stayed at the front door ready to go, and it's not like she's used to going out the front door at all since we've moved her. I'm convinced she knew, and she was ready. If you don't wanna cry, don't read any further.....

When we got there DH said "we're not gonna be in there are we? no way!" and I told him that I needed to be there for her so she wasn't afraid. He apologized but said that he just couldn't do it. I understand so I didn't push him. When the vet came into the room, she talked to us a little and asked if we wanted to be there. She understood that DH didn't want to stay so she gave us some time alone with Bella, then she came back and DH left. Instead of putting Bella up on the table, she had me hold her and she talked me through it, letting me know exactly when she would be injecting her. I held her as she passed and it was terrible, yet so peaceful for both of us. I told DH that I wish he had stayed as I think he would have felt better about it. Once it was done, the vet asked if I wanted time alone. She was so compassionate. I couldn't have asked for anything more from her.

Telling DD was another story. When we got home, the neighbor brought her home and DH called her over and just told her that Bella was sick today, and so we took her to the vet and while we were there she died in my arms. So our story was true as far as DD is concerned. But she took it a lot harder than we thought she would. She just wailed when DH told her. It absolutely broke my heart! She cried for about an hour straight. I finally took her to bed with me (poor DH gets the guest room tonight!) and she cried herself to sleep. I'm sure tomorrow won't be too good either. She told me that she "might cry tomorrow at school." I need to find a way to get in touch with her teacher in the morning before school to warn her.

I feel much more at peace. As hard as it was to do, I KNOW that Bella is in a better place. "They" say that dogs don't go to heaven, but I say that anything that gives us that much joy in life must have a place in heaven, right?

I'm sure we'll all have a few more days of tears, but for now I'm feeling dehydrated!

Thank you again for all your thoughts! Oh, came home to find that Buckeye chewed up the blinds in the bathroom to the point that they have to come down! When it was all over with Bella tonight, I whispered to her that Buckeye might join her soon if he didn't stop chewing - the vet got a little chuckle over that. It helped to lighten the mood for all of us.

Renee - by the time you read this you'll only be two days away from leaving!!!!!! I'm so excited for you! :cool1:

Debbie - I love the way you structured your trip - I think splitting the stay between the two resorts is smart - the best of both worlds!

Cammie - I've made a spreadsheet of the DVC resorts and ranked them based on purchase price, maintenance costs, and usage points. AKL wins in the usage points hands down!!!! Only 9 points Sunday-Thurs in value season???? But they are the highest in purchase price and mid range in maintenance. Then HHI and VB are the lowest in purchase price but the highest in maintenance, etc. BWV is about middle of the road.... Now let me ask you this.... do you usually book 11 months out at your home resort??? Have you ever had a problem using the 7 month booking window to book somewhere other than your home resort??? I'm kinda liking VB or HHI for purchasing a DVC, but then using the points at BWV or AKL to get the most bank for my buck, but only if I can get a reservation at 7 months, know what I mean???? But I definitely have DH's attention!

I'm all cried out now so I'm exhausted! "Talk" to y'all tomorrow!

Laura - we bought DD the lanyard and beginners set of pins in 2006 and at first she was a little hesitant. We were too busy getting autographs and meeting every possible character we could find! But once she figured out the pin trading game, every CM she saw that had pins, she was dragging us off to trade with them!!!!! She loved it, and now when DH travels, he picks up a pin for her. Plus, I get them for stocking stuffers, etc. I think it's a lot of fun for her.

We're definitely gonna have to make plans for a quick meet while we're there - are you planning any pool time at POP?

I don't know what to say Kara so I'll just share this poem...I really am crying so hard right now because I truely understand and feel so badly for all of you........

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Debbie I think I hate you right now!!!! OK, not really.... I have seen that poem before but never in this situation! In fact, I told DH tonight that the first person who sends me the Rainbow Bridge poem is gonna get it from me! I thought I was all cried out, but I managed to find more tears!!!

Thank you!

I'm at work and I now have raccoon eyes. I have tears on my cheeks and people are looking at me weird. Oh well!

I haven't figured out pool time yet. I don't think we'll have to worry since your MIL or SIL will be next door. :)

...........which was kind of a bummer.

My eyes are so puffy I can barely see the screen...

We kindof of got booted out of the Magical Gathering deal when they realized Matthew wouldn't be 2 yet but my Mom fought tooth and nail to let us keep the reservations since they gave them to us in the first place. They did it!! They even decided to consider DS 3 for the first part of our trip so that we could keep the ressies and so we will actually be getting more free food too. Does that make sense? It's kind of hard to explain.

BTW I talked to Tammie during her layover here in Chicago and she was stranded due to weather until after midnight! I called her to check on her today and she was good to go (she's in Atlanta for an Arbonne convention with a Tim McGraw concert)

Good morning!

Kara - How are you and your family doing today? I'm sure you're all going to have some emotional moments over the next few days, but, as the mama bear, I'm sure you'll pull everyone else through it. And I just want to give you a HUGE pat on the back for staying with Bella. No knock against your hubby but, isn't funny how men are always considered the "stronger" sex; yet in situations like these, it's the women who stay the strongest. I'm happy you were able to be there for her.

Re: the DVC. Since I always want to stay at the BW, yes, I always book at the 11 month window. As for waiting for the 7 month window, it's hard to guess: depends on when you're going & how big of a room you want. For instance, at 7 mos., I think it's really hard to get a studio or 1 bdrm. at BW during the F&W festival. On the other hand, I was able to get a studio at WL (70pts. - 5 nights) for this June by booking in Jan. - they also had studios available at AKL, OKW & SSR. Honestly, I would try to buy at the resort you think you'd want to stay at the most. Or what alot of people do - they purchase the most affordable DVC resort on WDW property; book at the 11 month window; then try to change at the 7 month window to the resort they really want to stay at - if it's available, great; if not, you still have your ressie on the property. Understand?

I can keep you posted on what my sister's trying to do - her 7 month window is next week and she wants to get in at BW in Nov. because that's where I'll be. I'll let you know how successful she is. I think purchasing DVC ownership is just what your family needs right now. What a great pick-me-up it would be!

I agree with Kara. My daughter got her starter set when she was 4. I thought she would be too shy also, but once she figured out she could get a CM's pin for free (by trading), she was asking all that she saw. I think it really helped to break her out of her shell and we've had some really nice conversations with the CMs in the process. She'll also help her sister trade too. And they do make great stocking stuffers or souvenirs that they can afford to buy themselves. Of course, we now have more pins that we want to keep and not trade - but that's part of the fun! I will say, though, that it is a pain lugging those things around sometimes; my girls will do 1 or 2 trades a day - by mid-day it's too hot and they don't always want to wear them, so who do you think gets to hold them? Yup - momma - but they fit just find in my Overland bag!

Debbie - Those ADRs sound like so much fun. I always wanted to do one but we never have enough people - just me and my girls. That's why I'm hoping my DSis gets her ressie in Nov - she's a family of 5 and I think my parents may come also. Is that enough for a "grand gathering" - 10?

True dat sista! :rotfl2: Maybe if you're lucky, my SIL will "let" you watch her kids, too!:lmao:

Then hit delete when you see it in your email box!:guilty:

Too late!!!!! But I'm saving it there for DD to read tonight. She's much better this morning. She's talking about Bella but I think the shock has worn off. :sad2:

No, my MIL did NOT book us as a Magical Gathering!!!!!! And being the rotten DIL that I am, I will probably wait for the time that I can remind her how much we missed because she did not do that. :smokin: Were all those ADR's just one TS credit on the dining plan?

Oh, I really have a lot of catching up to do. The past two days have pretty much been a bust at work, I've done just enough to keep my head afloat, so today and tomorrow I really need to buckle down and get something done. But that doesn't mean I won't have time to DIS!!!!!! ::yes::

Ahhh, the peaceful sounds of Mouseworld RAdio! I've even got my sis in OHio tuned in!!! :music: I feel better already! :cloud9:

Well, off to take DD to the bus stop, then I need to race home to call her teacher and "warn" her that Ally may be a bit distracted today. I'm so ticked at her teacher right now though (I know, what's new, right?). Two weeks ago they sent home two flyers with picture dates. Class pics scheduled for April 10th (today) and individual spring pics for April 11th (Friday). Yesterday morning DD is frantic because I won't let her wear her cute outfit for spring pics. A) it's PE day, and B) spring pics aren't until Friday. She is adamant that her teacher told the class the pics were on Wednesday! I held firm and said "no" and guess what? Yup! Stupid teacher never bothered to send home anything letting us know they changed the date!!!!!!! I mean, seriously, how difficult is it to communicate a little????

Where is everyone today??? :confused3 I promise not to make you cry if you'll come back and play! :goodvibes

Renee - you'd better not be sick or injured!!!!!! Feel better FAST!

Laura - OMG! I just looked at Accuweather - 6-12 " for you????? I am so sorry - and I promise not to tell you what I'm doing today on my lunch hour.... :rolleyes1

I am so drained right now, I actually feel like I'm coming down with something - either that or allergies. I would love love love a nice nap today, but I don't think I could pull that off somehow. Besides, I really need to get the house cleaned. We're watching the neighbor girl tonight - I think she's 10 or 11 - while the mom takes the 4 year old to Disney on Ice. Dad is out of town and older brother has something else going on. I'm thinking maybe mom should stay home and let ME take her DD to Disney on Ice! ;)

OK, guess I'll just post alone.... :sad2:

Cammie, you got another ticker!!!! You go girl!!!!

Debbie, is that your Mom in all those pics with you??? She looks so young!

Glad you are doing better Kara...I bet you are drained!
The Safari one is two dinner credits. The fireworks is only one...
Hi Cammie! You have to be a party of 8 paying people....
Where is Renee?
Jillian...keep working on those pix...
Laura...Kara should be so thankful for you!
BTW You are not REALLY going to get that much snow:scared1: OMG! I would be crapping!

OK, guess I'll just post alone.... :sad2:

Yeah Cammie!

Kara, Yes, that is my Mom. Next week she is turning 62. She looks good doesn't she? Love her!

Hi, Lurker here-
Love this thread!
Kara, my dear cat Walter went to his reward about 6 years ago. It was his time, I stayed with him as he was my first baby. I had just had the human baby from hell, ds now 6, was an absolute wreck, husband traveling, blah, blah, blah...but Disney pulled us through:thumbsup2 Go watch the Lion King, great for explaining the whole circle of life thing. Also, love the Rainbow Bridge poem:angel: 'cause I really believe that there are animals in heaven.
Ok, back to your lives people!:flower3:
Thanks from a fellow obsessive planner, worry wart etc,
Gretchen

Welcome Gretchen! Hope you can stay a play awhile. We're a fun bunch & crazy bunch here (just go back and read the last 20 pages - you'll see what I mean!

Kara - I had posted just before you this a.m. - don't know if you saw it. Just wanted you to know I hadn't overlooked your questions about the DVC.

Thanks for noticing my new ticker! It's the same trip - just a ticker from a new site. I like the "Disney-themed" ones better. Check it out -

www.magicalkingdoms.com

It's absolutely gorgeous here today - 70 and sunny! Me very happy today! :sunny: But such a tease! It will go back down to the 40s-50s this weekend with torrential rain!:scared1: And it's supposed to stay that way all through next week! YUCK!

Will check in with you guys later!

Thanks for coming out of lurkdom to post this, Gretchen!!! I just think that DISers are some of nicest people! It was very kind of you to think of me! :cloud9:

And you're right - I can't imagine heaven without pets, so that's what is keeping me going. Of course, today I'm having so many regrets. I never took Bella to the beach, I paid too much attention to Buckeye when we got him, and I know that hurt her..... the list is endless. I feel no different grieving for her than I do when grieving for a human! And speaking of Buckeye, he is mourning today too. He's just kinda mopey today. Poor puppy!
