Just a couple of pics of Ally's Belle Christmas costume. It is so pretty - I can't believe it's been worn before!!! Tonight I'm taking it to be altered - there goes my savings on the price!!!

I'm sitting here watching the debate and really getting sick of all the blaming, and yada yada yada. Four more weeks of this crap!!!

Anyway, it reminded me of a story I wanted to tell y'all. Ally has really gotten involved in this election. She watched about 1/2 of the first debate, and then made me Tivo the VP debate. She came home the next day and immediately went and turned on the VP debate from Tivo, and watched every minute of it. Seriously. I mean, how much can she understand, right?

So we're driving down the road the other day, and she sees an Obama/Biden bumper sticker and she asks me about it. So I tell her. Then she asks me in her 7 year old innocence, "Is he the brown guy or the old guy?" :rotfl2:

So after I finish laughing, I confirm that Obama is the brown guy. She's quiet for a few minutes then she says, "I was impressed by him." Seriously. Where does she get this? So I ask her what impressed her? She says, "I think he made some very good points."

OK, now I'm a little freaked out. Seriously what can she understand? So she tells me, "I think Senator Obama really cares about the United States. And the old guy, what's his name? Yeah, Senator McCain. I think he just wants people to think he cares about the United States."

Hey, I'm not gonna stop her. My little future politician! But you had to hear her sounding so official with her little chipmunk voice! It was cute.

She fell asleep after the first question tonight, but she wouldn't go to bed until she saw me set the Tivo to record it for her!!! Heck, maybe I should ask HER to interpret some of this for ME!!!

I was telling my sister about it and she's like "Seriously?" I said, "yeah, and she was really into all the news about the Wall St bailout." My sister asked again, "Seriously?" I said, "Oh, yeah, Ally thinks it's a great idea as long as there is strict oversight and no golden parachutes for CEOs." My sister was dead silent. Then, "Are you serious?" My sister can be a bit thick at times! :lmao: But I had her going!!!! I got my gullible mom with the same story.

But the Obama story is true. And Ally is VERY upset and thinks it's VERY unfair that she can't vote this year!

That cracked me up!:lmao:

Good for Ally! Do they talk alot about the election in school? Lauren's sick of talking about it in school and I KNOW she wouldn't sit down and watch a debate!

Tammie - Hope Jim made out ok with his surgery.
Renee - How's everyone feeling in your house these days?
Laura - How's Tim doing? And how are you holding up?
Erin - It's soooo nice to see you around here again!
Where are the rest of our girls?:confused3

Soooo - I'm now ONE MONTH from our trip!!!!:cool1:  :woohoo: :yay: :dance3:

I have so much to do still! YIKES! But I love when we get within the 30 days - the excitement really starts to build around here!

Ya know, I don't know if they're discussing the election in 2nd grade or not. She has just really gotten into it though. She'll be home today and wanna watch last night's debate too.

Hey, I just sold my Belle dress (the one Ally wore on our trip in May) for $31 + $10 shipping!!!! :cool1: I paid $39 for the dress new!!!! I did throw in the shoes for the same price though, and I think those were about $14 when I got them. I think Ally wore the shoes for about an hour total.

Now I can get some more pins!

love the election story..i think it may have something to do with the weekly reader at school. beth is really concerned about theelection too. katherine is melting ui'll be back

Wow, look at all of the beautiful Belles.

Debbie - Keep the pics coming.

Kara - It's so cute that Ally is getting into the debates. I bet she listens well in class.

It's a stormy afternoon, but can't complain cause we are very dry right now. Sept is supposed to be our wettest month, but we didn't get much rain at all. We really need the rain.

I'm so tired today for some reason!!! Probably cause I overwhelm myself when I see all that needs to be done around the house. It's a constant battle.

I may log out early today and catch a little cat nap. I'm that tired!

Look how grown up he's looking these days!!!

I've been reading this book - Realityland, about the building of Disney World, and what Walt really wanted, versus what was built, plus some of the problems that went into the building, etc. It's so interesting. I'll have to post some factoids for everyone one of these days.

A few things. The rooms in the Contemporary were supposed to cost $17K each to be pre-fabbed and inserted. They ended up costing $100K per room!!!

The workers nicknamed it the "Contemporary" because Walt wanted a contemporary style. But it was just a nickname, so the bigwhigs came up with the name Tempo Bay Hotel - "tempo" was short for contemporary and it was on the bay. Then Roy said "I don't like it." And that was that.

The Contemporary was priced as a luxury resort when it opened 3 weeks after Magic Kingdom - at $29-44/night!!!

The other three resorts that Walt had planned outside MK, were the Venetian, which would be between the Poly and the Contemp and have canals running through the property for people to take gondola rides, and the Asian, between the Poly and the park, with Thai designed rooms. The Persian was to sit between the Contmp and the bark, but farther back, making it more mysterious. It would be a Far East palace theme.

Opening day for MK only had 10,400 guests. The "official" grand opening was actually 3 weeks later with the big parade and all the hoopla.

They were running so far behind, that in order to make their opening date, there were areas of land that hadn't been graded yet, so they said, no time, and just dumped in up to 10 feet of concrete in certain areas, instead of bringing in dirt and leveling first. Nobody found out about this until years later when they needed to drill through the concrete for light fixtures, etc.

There is more authenticity in WDW than any of us realize. The rocks lining the path in Liberty Square actually come from about 6 miles down stream from where Washington crossed the Delaware.

And sadly, Roy died of an anuerism 8 weeks after MK opened.

Hi Ladies,
I am beat! Sorry you feel crummy too Renee. I hope everyone's kids are feeling better. I just skimmed because I STILL have a trillion things to do but thanks Cammie for the pic!!! That was a bright spot to the day. It's just I am such a baby when I don't feel good. Plus, I feel sorry for myself because no one cares I don't feel good!!!
Kara, Congrats on the new and the sold Belle dresses. Ally looks adorable. I posted pix at my TR but am too tired to add more for now.
Later ladies!

Hi everyone! Thanks for your thoughts and prayers for Jim. His surgery went well - the damage was a little less than the doc thought, and he had to clean up some arthritis, but his recovery should be pretty quick. He has been doing pretty well, although he needs his Vicodin, and then he's woozy.

I have had a really rough day. I am so overwhelmed by the kids. On top of caring for Jim, the kids had to fire the babysitter while I was gone - she was stealing - so I have the kids all day until 9 or 10 pm on Tues and Wed - all day until 3 on Thurs. It messed up an appt I had this week - I can't even make a phone call without someone crying - I really need to do a few prep things for upcoming days in my business, and I can't find the time to make a call. Monday, Myles tried to tip over the high chair when I was drinking a cup of coffee and going over my calendar while Londynn ate her breakfast. I jumped up and spilled coffee all over my book and the table.

I have had one episode after another - some accidents, some not. We use pretty strict time outs, but no spanking is allowed. Yah, that works. I'm pulling my hair out. Today I was sitting in my office crying because I was grouchy with my family, and I can't be who I need to be for them, and I can't get my work done, either.

I felt so alone. :guilty: I called an Arbonne friend in VA who is also babysitting her grandbabies - we talked and prayed together and I felt a little better, but I am about to lose it. I know we'll get through this time, but younger people are the ones to have the babies - I know why now.

Thanks for listening. :grouphug:

Cammie, yeah for one month! :yay:
Debbie and Renee, hope you feel better really soon. It is so hard to be the mom when you're sick.
Erin, I'll look up the info and send you a link.
Kara, that election story is too funny! You daughter is a political genius! Maybe she'll be our president some day! :thumbsup2 She looks good in the Belle costume, too!

As for the facts- how fun! I have a WDW trivia book - we should take turns putting out a trivia challenge for everyone! The Venetian did get built. In Las Vegas. My hubby loves it. I don't think it was built by Disney though. I didn't realize Roy died that long ago. Oh, I was thinking of his son, Roy E., still alive. He owned a cattle ranch around here that my dad still visits. The biggest part of it was sold to a real estate developer - they built a huge golf course and resort and sold expensive lots for expensive homes on the course and in the hills above it. They retained the name, "Running Y Ranch." If you own DVC points you can use them there - as if! :lmao:

Hi Lisa, Tessa, Laura, Pam, Tina, everyone else!

Thanks for listening to my craziness - I love that we can vent to each other and everyone is so caring! :grouphug:

Good morning ladies! Just a quick fly by, then I have to get Ally off to school, and start cleaning!

Jeff's gone until Sunday - :cool1: - I know, I'm terrible!!! It's just I really like my time alone, or with Ally. And I love the house staying clean!!! But it'll be a good weekend for everyone....

Debbie, and Tammie - so sorry y'all are feeling down! Tammie, you must be exhausted! I don't know how people do it with two small children, let along grandchildren! I stress out enough with just one! Did the kids start looking for a new sitter yet?

Debbie - I'm the same way when I'm sick - and I've been fighting off some sort of tummy bug this week. Nobody cares. I go to lay down in the evening by myself, and Ally comes barging in, Jeff doesn't bother to stop her. When I don't feel well, I just want to be left alone!

OK, so much for a quick flyby! :rotfl:

Thanks, Kara. They aren't looking for a sitter yet. I came home to, "I'm just going to drop out..." Of course she can't cuz she'd have to start paying back loans with no job. We are so particular about who watches the kids, it makes it really hard. Then when you think you find someone good and she turns out to be so different than who you thought she was, it's hard to know what to do next. I told them I can't do it full time next term, but it is really getting to be full time now. I guess I am going to have to ask them to find someone for Thurs and Fridays. That would really help.

I hope you feel better, too. Here's PD for all you sick gals - get your rest!:grouphug:

Tammie so glad Jim is OK and so sorry you are having some rough days! I feel for you! I have often said that I am too old for the little ones and even though I live with my parents I try as little as possible to have them watch the kids on their own. I just know how exhausting it must be!!!! People can't figure out why I don't just go back to work because of our living situation but I don't want to leave Matthew with my Mom all the time at this point because of what you are saying. It's hard. I just hope they appreciate you!!!!!!!

Kara..I did like the TRIVIA. I might need to read that book (if I ever found time to read).
Cammie...WOW! How exciting to have the trip right around the corner!

I know you guys understand how it feels to be sick or over whelmed.....
Thanks for listening.

I am still playing catch up!

tammie my heart goes out to you. That is a tough situation to be in. I can see if from the other side too. Always begging for someone to watch the kids. Keep your chin up. I just wish we all lived closer so I could help. Remember we're here for you

Life is still chaotic. I'm slowly getting on top of it. I haven't added any new obilgations. Just working thru the ones I already have. Tim is almost back to work full time at his client sites. Driving is a bit exhusting. It is amazing to think he is back after 3 weeks. Yikes. Only sad news is my sis is leaving on Sat and I have really gotten used to her being her to watch the girls.

Glad you are feeling better and DH is doing so well! Sorry about your sis leaving! That is a bummer!

Hi guys! Lauren had off today (ANOTHER Jewish holiday), so we were out for most of the day: haircut, shopping, friends -- which just equals more money being spent. UGH!

Tammie - Hang in there! I feel so bad for the situation you're in. Like Debbie said - I hope you're appreciated and they show it!

As for the rest of you --- GET FREAKIN' BETTER!!!!! I'm afraid to come on this thread these days - it seems one person gets sick, we all get sick. I've got a vacation coming up in less than a month - I can't get sick too! Seriously, I hope you all feel better real soon! I miss everyone being around here!:sad1:

I'm having some serious computer issues. Called Dell yesterday and after an hour of some dude working on my computer remotely, he told me that I had a virus or spyware but that he got rid of it. Not an hour later I had the same popups and problems, and today it is so slow I can hardly stand it!!! I can't work with it this slow.

So I called Dell again and they said that it's not covered under warranty if it's a virus. Well, it was working fast and fine yesterday before dingdong worked on it!!! So I'm manually running all my Norton's and anti-spyware now. But it's miserable. If this one crashes again, my boss will be so pissed! Cause our other computers are dead too!

OK, off to the clubhouse for taco night and my beer to go!!!! Later!
