I know!!! It is way too much to pay for little girls clothes! And they're not even "little girls" clothes in my opinion. Way to trendy in the high school way for me....

Okay, I sent you one- then you used one from someone else..:rolleyes1 but, I didn't get one. The system only let me send 5 at a time.

That's so weird. I thought you were just replying to me! I think it's cause I tried to send more than 5....

I looked everybody up at Christmas, too! I have google earth, so I've seen the tops of some of your houses - fun, cuz I can imagine where you are when you are talking about your lives!

Ooooh, I"m gonna do this!

I was thinking about all of you for coffee this morning, but I couldn't get the time to get on - the kids were up bright and early today.

I'm sipping my coffe right now!

Jillian - I really hope things work out for your trip, and with Mike's job. That is just so stressful!

Debie - how did Elizabeth do this morning? We almost missed the bus this morning. We were pulling out the golf cart and the bus barrelled by! We got there just fine, and luckily he cruises back around about 3 minutes laters so if we miss the first run, we can catch him then.... But he's coming about 10 minutes earlier than he is scheduled.

Happy Hump Day everyone!

ITA about the little kids clothes, Kara! Glad you caught the bus. That's nice that he makes 2 sweeps.

Hiya all,

Kara - happy hump day to you too!!! Still makes me giggle...

Debbie - hope the little one settles in at school, probably a bit overawed by it all.... ours started back yesterday too.... and break for our half term the last week of October...

I started back to school yesterday too - supervising at lunchtimes... On my little walks around to check everyone is outside playing I came across a little darling stood by her coat peg and said she had to go out to play, she said to me "But it's so busy, I don't know ANYbubby and I don't know what to do....." I felt for her sooo much and tried not to giggle at the "anybubby" took her hand and wandered over to the older more confident kids, who soon had her chatting and playing beautifully - so just remember - even if they have sad little moments, there are folks like me there to help.... I had a little picture of us holding hands passed to me today - took all my power not to cry!!!! I do love my job, just wish there were more hours!! ..... and now I'm dealing with younger ones again I find it sooooo rewarding.

Cheers,
Tessa

Tessa, you are so sweet! The kids are lucky to have you working at their school! :lovestruc

Good "late" morning everyone! I sent Lauren off to her first day of 7th grade this morning - and cried! I don't ever think I'll be happy with my children getting older!:sad1:

Here's a glimpse of your future, Kara. In first grade, you can dress them in head-to-toe Disney attire; come middle school - it's all about shopping at the big name stores. Lauren's entire outfit was found at Abercrombie.......

DSC03148.jpg

She really liked the way she looked so I was glad to send her out the door feeling somewhat confident. Even though, over dinner last nite, she revealed to me how nervous she was about the first day - didn't know who was in her lunch period; or in three of her core classes. So of course, I sit here and worry about my baby sitting all alone! I don't know who the first day of school is worse for!

Pam - Glad to see you're back!

I'll check back in later everyone; I'm off to get ingrediants for choc.chip cookies - our traditional first day of school snack!

Oh! Lauren looks so grown up and beautiful - no wonder you cried!

What a good mom, baking cookies! My boys used to make such a big deal if I ever, because I never, baked - it made me feel bad that I didn't do it more! :lmao:

So shopping last night was a great success. DD9 got a cute jumper with black pants to wear today from Ltdtoo. I talked with the sales girl and she said all Ltd toos will be Justice by the spring. Interesting. I think both places are super expensive!! I'd rather shop at Savers and get second hand then pay the prices at Ltd too. Last night Gramma was paying and she wanted Ltd too, so away we went. We actually got jeans at Justice for $7 that were priced $20, of course I didn't correct the sales. I know I'll go to hell for that. My mom pulled out a cute fushia cordoury outfit for DD6 - skort, sweater top with a sequin cami - very cute - until I priced it $60+ and that didn't include the $14 cami - give me a break she's only 6 yo!

This is why I will be making my kids clothes for as long as I can. Thank goodness they both have the basics, jeans, shirts, etc. All we have to do is add in the sweaters, but my goodness. No wonder the average household has to work 2 jobs and can't pay their bills. It's not the gas prices, it's the price of the kids clothes.

Okay I have to go DD9 is making me crazy about her clothes, now it's her toothpaste. I still have to shower and get ready for work, then get DD6 up and deal with her craziness.

Have a get day everyone!!

Glad your shopping went well, Tina, and that school went well.

Debbie, so nice to have you around - I understand about not wanting to dis when DH is around. I feel that way when mine comes home and I'm laying in the recliner, computer on my lap.. :rolleyes1

Have a great trip, Renee - come back with pictures!

Hi Pam, Keahi, Jillian, Laura, Maureen....everyone else!

Tessa, you are so sweet! The kids are lucky to have you working at their school! :lovestruc

Aw - thank you - I do try.... even wear my crocs with Mickey/Goofy on one foot and Minnie/Tinkerbell on the other..... The shy, worried kids always spend their time looking down, then usually look up with a smile when they see them... breaks the "ice" so to speak..... yep, even from this young age we use psychology on your babies!!

OK, now, we are watching lots of the US presidential stuff at the moment and I know you girls can help - WHAT is a redneck??? The scary lady's daughter's boyfriend keeps being described as one on our news.....

Tessa

Tessa - A redneck is best described by photos.... www.redneckphotos.net. Try that and see if you still have questions!!!! :rotfl2: Typically they are southern country folk. But I can't really describe them in words. Just to say I've known MANY living in South Carolina!!!!

By the way, Tessa, who is that "scary woman?" :confused3

I think she's talking about Palin.

Tessa - Here's some help for figuring out what a "redneck" is (courtesy of Google):

You know you're a redneck when...

1. You take your dog for a walk and you both use the same tree.

2. You can entertain yourself for more than 15 minutes with a fly swatter.

3. Your boat has not left the driveway in 15 years.

4. You burn your yard rather than mow it.

5. You think "The Nutcracker" is something you do off the high dive.

6. The Salvation Army declines your furniture.

7. You offer to give someone the shirt off your back and they don't want it.

8. You have the local taxidermist on speed dial.

9. You come back from the dump with more than you took.

10. You keep a can of Raid on the kitchen table.

11. Your wife can climb a tree faster than your cat.

12. Your grandmother has "ammo" on her Christmas list.

13. You keep flea and tick soap in the shower.

14. You've been involved in a custody fight over a hunting dog.

15. You go to the stock car races and don't need a program.

16. You know how many bales of hay your car will hold.

17. You have a rag for a gas cap.

18. Your house doesn't have curtains, but your truck does.

19. You wonder how service stations keep their rest-rooms so clean.

20. You can spit without opening your mouth.

:rotfl2:

Oh, I thought she was talking about Hillary! :rotfl2:

OK, no political discussions on our happy little thread! That's a sure way to turn the tone!

Anyone seen the lastest track for Hurricane Ike? FYI, I don't like Ike. Cat 4 hurricane now, and newest track shows it hitting the east coast of FL. Not good. That would be my first evacuation!:scared1:

Thank you ladies - I think I know what a redneck is now - and you seriously let these people buy guns!!!!! My goodness....:scared:

Oh and it was Palin..... scary lady. Hilary is scary too, but for different reasons.....:rotfl:

Kara - wouldn't even know any of the political stuff over there - we just get "soundbites" over here - mostly biased as well -towards Obama (sp?)

Thinking of it, it is seriously biased here in the UK - smiling family man with experienced running mate against an old man and a woman with guns is how it's portrayed in the media over here. No political views, no policy stuff, no how they plan to balance budgets etc - just personal stuff - it is starting to get that way over here too - personalities counting for more than policies... sad really.

Anyhow - just got absolutely SOAKED going to and coming back from work - it is literally 3 min door to door walk - and I had to change down to my undies when I got home, it was that bad!!!!!! Like being on Bluto's bilge rat barges again!:goodvibes BUT COLDER!!!!!

Tessa

There is nothing like Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges!!!! :rotfl2:

That's so interesting to hear how the UK portrays the candidates over there. I guess we do the same thing with foreign leaders, too.

debbie--tim is still waiting on Dell to get the posting opened. Gotta love big corps and the dances they make you do. The mgr (his old boss) has said it should be any day and he is on the very short list for the job. His boss is based out of Chicago and so Tim would be based in Mpls for a while until he gets a promo which would probably be to Chicago.

Ike sounds scary. I am saying an extra prayer for you that it falls apart in the ocean.

we got up late today. had to drive Beth to school. I love that extra 30 min it gives us. She has to catch the bus at 7:00 am this year. If I drive we don't have to leave until 7:25 am. THe one good thing is that she is home by 2:30.

Katherine is in an awful mood. She was hitting kids at the YMCA childcare yesterday. Not having Beth around is doing her in.

Hi to everyone.
Renee-Hope the beach is good

Hey guys! It's been a busy day - my first day of freedom! Amanda started school today and in the effort to give each daughter equal time, here she is at 7am today before the van came......

DSC03156-2-1.jpg

My unbiased opinion? I thought she was looking mighty cute in her JoBros. t-shirt and converse sneakers!:cutie: And yes - she's sleeping! Was not happy about being up in her chair that early; but guess that's one of the benefits of being in a wheelchair -- you can sleep whenever you want and you'll still get to where you need to go!

So what did I do my first day to myself? Ran around doing errands for the girls! Lauren came home yesterday with another list of supplies she still needs! I swear, I've spent a small fortune already!

Well, both girls should be home shortly - will be back later!

Awww, Amanda DOES look cute in her JB shirt and sneaks!!! Great pic! Wish I could snooze on my way out the door!

How was Lauren's first day at school?

I just got an email from Ally's teacher sent out to me and three other women who all volunteered to be room moms. Please tell me why I volunteered for this? Oy vey!

Now watching the Atlantic VERY closely. Ike really scares me! Jeff drives me nuts with his, "oh, it's not gonna do anything" attitude. One of these days, he's so unprepared for everything and one of these days he's gonna get caught! I'm so the opposite, always totally overprepared. Oh, well, guess that's what makes us a good team? At least I try to tell myself that! :rotfl2:

Okay the lady, wait she wasn't a lady, the female wearing the men's underware as a halter was a first for me! Who are these people?

Hi Ladies..
Was very busy today and got a lot done! Had to run around extra to show DH how hard I work!:rotfl2: I am going to let it slide for this week but he pretty much doesn't do much while he's awake.

Amanda looks TOO cute!!!! LOVE the outfit!

Yes, I agree we get along TOO well here to start arguing about politics! BTW what religion are you guys? J/K -don't answer!!!!!!!!!:rotfl2:

Local School board meeting tonight so hopefully they address the large class size enough to make me happy.

Just double checked car rentals for our trip and it has COMPLETELY dropped! I am so psyched! It was 311.00 and now it is 125.00!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a National at 165.00 with a controversial code so all is good now!

GO AWAY IKE!!!!!!!!!
Big Brother Eviction night! Bye Rennie!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Thanks for the Chuckle! I know a few of those rednecks around here! :lmao:

In the words of a famous redneck, "That's funny right there - I don't care who you are!" :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Cammie, Amanda did look really cute for her first day! I'll bet she was the most stylin' in her class! :goodvibes

Tina, those people are my neighbors! :scared1: J/K, but I have seen them here! They also live in the West!

Kara, home room mother - there you go, being all Martha/Bree again. :rotfl2:
I'm glad you are well prepared, and I am praying that Ivan goes the other way!

Debbie, what does he do when he's sleeping? :goodvibes :rotfl:

I had my first day off today. We have a really sweet babysitter here all day Thurs and Friday, so I can get some work done. I wrote my training for tonight, and got some calls made, now I'm trying to take a little nap before I have to get ready.

I'm really excited - the DeTox Spa is 50% off for September!!!! I love offering deals to my friends and family!!!!

Cammie, Amanda did look really cute for her first day! I'll bet she was the most stylin' in her class! :goodvibes

I'm told Amanda is usually the most stylin' in her whole school!;)

The Giants start their defense of their Super Bowl tonite - WOOT! WOOT! I love football season!

Go Giants!:cheer2:

Well, I went to the meeting, spoke my mind, no one else chimed in and now I feel like the principal is going to think I am a big trouble maker! I am so stressed now. I would never want to ruin Elizabeth's school experience because of my big mouth but I ended up doing all the talking! My Mom said I shouldn't have. She thinks I am labeled now. I thought I was being an advocate for the group. Turns out that only one other Mom chimed in....makes me look like I am the leader of the complaints..
Thoughts?
Should I go meet privately with the principal to clear the air?
Should I let the teacher know I have no problems with her?
I am all worried now I will be labeled for the next 9 years there!
