Looking For Control Freaks & Worry Warts too (Part 2)

Hello,
I am a new Dis-er ,but a veteran worry wart, so I wanted to ask y'all something about our first trip to the World this August. I have a very tall 2 year old who is always getting mistaken for 3. We weren't planning on buying admission for him. Do I need to bring some proof of his age to prove that I have a 2 not 3 year old? We are flying from VA, so I didn't ever think I would need any kind of I.D. for the kids, but now I am wondering.

TIA:cool2:

Hi, gabesfamily, and :welcome: to the DIS!

As for ID, I'm not sure - maybe someone else can answer that for you. But it probably wouldn't hurt to bring a copy of his birth certificate? Just in case. Feel free to chime in here, we love plan all our trips together!

Hi Gang!
We are running around still. Mark is still off so when we aren't doing the family stuff he is driving me nuts! Not to mention we are going to be broke after a week off! I can tell my hormones are already raging because I am waking up in the morning anxious so all the outside stuff doesn't add to matters. When you are a stay at home Mom the DHs have NO IDEA what you do all day!!! I mean wouldn't you love to lounge around in the morning before your day starts and then just mosey around for the day! Wow! I am so done with this already!

Jillian... I am from Chicago so all weddings are OPEN. No one from around here would have a cash bar and people would be taken back. I think it really depends on where you live and what everyone else is doing.

Laura...WHO CARES!! I say...smart move!

To the rest of you guys I apologize but I am not really caught up that well.

Renee... I can't wait to here what you guys decide. When do you have to decide by?

LOVE the pix even though it is weird to have that stuff all be so unfamiliar to me. All the shots look great though.

What are your guys thoughts on the devise of Pleasure Island? I don't really care.

My spoiled kids have gone from being in Wisconsin for 5 days to a Cubs game, then the water park, Taste of Park Ridge & carnival, baby shower, camp and Kiddie Land to another pool day! Talk about lucky kids! I can't wait to share pix when I get my butt moving to upload them!!

I always bring the birth cert copy but also WDW has records of your kids ages from when you book with them too. They probably would just look you up.

WELCOME!!!!!

Debbie, welcome back stranger! :rotfl:

I so know what you mean about DHs being at home. Jeff gets off at noon every Friday and comes home and naps! Meanwhile, I'm keeping up the house while I'm working. Drives me nuts.

I've started making a weekly list of things I need to do, including a few things that I'd LIKE to do, but if not, they can wait. Yesterday I started cleaning the grout in all my tile floors - and in Florida, almost everything is tile! We had some places that were cracked, so when they came out and regrouted those spots, I realized that the grout was supposed to be off-white, not brown! So I bought a hard bristle brush, and some super strength cleaner - it's working great but taking forever. On my hands and knees, just doing about 5 minutes at a time. I should be able to finish the kitchen today. I think it's getting gross from the mop. I think the dirty mop water holds in the grout and stains it. Cause even our bathroom is dingy and it's not like we're tracking dirt in there, KWIM? I want to get it really good and clean so I can seal it. Hopefully that will keep me from having to do this every few months.

Since I've got the TV back on in my office, I'm debating whether I want to get back into the soaps again. It's been years since I watched all the CBS soaps, so it would be like starting over. Right now I'm just keeping Fox News on.

Know what I really hate? Changing sheets on the beds! Even though I love crawling into nice clean, crisp, cool sheet, I hate to do this! So it has to go on my to-do list, too, or else I'll put it off forever!

OK, gone for now - see ya!

Hi guys! Quick stop by for now. I just got in from Amanda's pre-op appt. in Boston; I was told to expect it to take 2-2 1/2 hours - well it took over 4 HOURS! We left at 9:15 this morning and got back at 4pm. I'm so freakin' tired!!!! Seriously, I have sheer body exhaustion. Amanda was a trooper though - had blood drawn;EKG; x-rays - she did fine. Felt bad for Lauren; I don't usually drag her to these things but I knew I could really use the help so I told she had to come. Promised we'd grab some lunch when we were done - which I THOUGHT would be around 12:30. Nope, didn't finish with the hospital business unti 2:30; the poor thing was starving!

I'll catch up with what I missed later and check back in. Hope everyone had a good day!

Poor baby!! I'm glad for you it's over!

Thanks so much. I thought it wouldn't hurt to have back up. He is tall just like his Daddy. REALLY tall.:rotfl:

OK, to BBB or not to BBB in November? Ally really wants to do it again, but it's $45! I guess I could do it and not tell Jeff (like most of my other shopping!), and it would be fun before 1900 ParkFare (where we will be seeing Jillian and the Badookster!). I'm thinking I could pretty much do it myself, I paid close attention last time. The only thing is that her hair is shorter now so I don't know if I have the right gel to hold it in place. Oh, what a dilemma! :rotfl:
. Uh -hum... how much gas are you saving by your 3 trips a day on the golf cart... :confused3 Plus I really like Cammie's idea too, but you know, it won't be many more visits before she refuses the BBB - didn't she pitch a fit when you gave her the last invite? I say do it now while you can!

OH, other great news. DH found ANOTHER mysterious charge on our Disney VISA credit card!!! This one clearly not ours!! Someone ibought $40 worth of Children's Art in FL on June 5th and it definitely wasn't us because we were up here in MA!! This is the second time we're going to have to cancel the card because someone charged something on our Disney VISA card and it wasn't us. This time at least it wasn't too much money, the last time was $600 out of Taiwan. If it wasn't for the reward points I'd say screw the card.

DID YOU CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD STATEMENT LATELY!!
Thanks for the heads up. That is scarey stuff!!!!

As for BBB, just a suggestion. Why not go to the GF hair salon like I did and get the half-braid. It is a little more - $55, but it lasts for weeks!
?
Okay, stupid question, but I'm wondering if i had a bad experience. Mine was so tight that I couldn't stand it - and when I washed it, it seemed like it wouldn't dry. Then I was all worried my hair would mildew like a towel. :rotfl: So, I'm wondering if the chick who did mine just did it super tight. I kept mine in for about 4 days - and finally took it out to releave the headache I had - and it worked, almost instantly! Sign it was a bit to tight....
Step back from the planning and take a deep breath! That was Tammie!:lmao: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Actually - it was you both! :) Jillian was the short - I should be mad comment - and then the rest was you. I was probably so mad at him I wasn't writing very clearly - but thanks again Tammie for listening to me rant that night - I was so mad at him. I told him next time, I was going to do "unimaginable things" to him if he did something like that again!

As the mom of a 4 year old that is larger (size, height, and shoes) than most 1st graders, I can say take a birth certificate with you. When he was 2 1/2 they (SW) asked to see it. Why, I'm not sure, because he had an adult ticket. :confused3 But better safe than sorry.

Renee... I can't wait to here what you guys decide. When do you have to decide by?

I don't know what is going on with Pleasure Island, but that isn't really something that interests me - so I don't know. As for when we will make our decision, who knows, but hopefully by the end of the month. I'd like to jump on booking August if I can.

Know what I really hate? Changing sheets on the beds! Even though I love crawling into nice clean, crisp, cool sheet, I hate to do this! So it has to go on my to-do list, too, or else I'll put it off forever!!
Absolutely the same here! I HATE IT! But like you, love the results...:cloud9:

Cammie - does Amanda really understand all that she will be going through with the surgery coming up? That is a lot of teeth to do at once, but I can certainly understand them wanting to do it all in one swoop rather than one at a time! Poor thing! :sad1:

I've been a slave to my child's social calendar this week - and I'm so tired! Looks like more of the same next week.

Okay, need help here. SO... I had thought of going ot see Dad tomorrow, loading up the two kids and driving the 3 hours by myself to visit for 3 hours and then come back. That is a long day for the little ones. Carlos doesn't like to go because he knows a lot of side stories and he feels they should do some part, blah blah blah, but they don't ... so you know. But I REALLY don't want to go tomorrow. I have PMS, I'm tired, we have a nice friend who invited us over -- I just honestly don't want to do this by myself. THey seem to think I am "overdue" for coming. My SM told me that "Your Dad won't be around forever" and I do know that - but he is the type that has always enjoyed playing up being sick. Actually my mom left him after he told her for 1 yr that he had this incurable cancer (she went to the appt, ask the dr how long he would live, the dr said, "Lady, it is a kidney stone, people don't die from those"). Given that - he is sick. He has mental issues, is old, diabetic and the list goes on. I am thinking of putting it off for 3 weeks and making Carlos suck it up and go with me. If the trip to see DSIL works out well, then maybe we could go there and spend the night and drive back the next day or something.

One of my issues is #1 Nicolas is potty trained now, so that means stopping, and #2, at least 1 1/2 hours of that trip is in the "boonies". No cell phone service. Walk for miles to get to help, etc.

Am I bad to want to not go. Now keep in mind, my only "committment was to say last week that I would try to get down there this week or next (which is full). I know SM is going to be ticked off, but I don't want to go so bad I don't care.

Thanks for listening - yet again!

Renee, like Cammie said to me, you do what is best for YOUR family! And I don't think driving through the sticks with 2 kids is the best thing. I say wait until Carlos can go with you. If your SM doesn't get it, too bad. You'll go when you can go. Especially after some of your stories, I know it's your dad and all, but you have to put the safety of your family first. Even if Carlos can't go, then leave the kids with him, take your mace, and go alone. That is just too long of a day for 2 kids, IMHO.

And I agree with you about BBB - I'm going to call now to book it! Thanx!

Oh, and it's an electric golf cart. ;)

I've been on my hands and knees scrubbing tile grout today. It sucks! Now I need to get all the bleach rinsed out good before cleaning the whole floor with ammonia. Don't want to mix those two! :scared1:

Got another yummy dinner in the crock pot - cream cheese ranch chicken served over noodles!

I just have too many projects on my plate right now. I'm antsy now to get the backyard landscaped around the new screen. I want to move some of the azalea bushes to another area, plant a rose garden (I've always wanted one!), and get some really cool Florida plants, very tropical. So now the drapes are on hold!

I wouldn't go. The only thing you need to do is ask yourself is how you would feel if by some chance he did die before you visited again in 3 weeks. Is this realistic? Doubtful, right? I'm with you on this.

Booked BBB! :cool1: I booked it for 3pm and our ADR at 1900PF is at 5pm so we should be good to go!

Cammie - aren't we getting close to needing to throw up some Happy Birthday wishes for you? I remember the three weeks from your dinner at Disney... so we should be getting close - right?

Oh, and it's an electric golf cart. ;)
!
I think I'm communicating clear as mud these days. I meant use the $$$ you are saving by not driving a car and using your golf cart to not feel guilty about the BBB splurge...

Thanks to you & to you Debbie - I'm seriously thinking of calling it off. I guess something happening in the next 3 weeks could happen, but his condition has been about the same for the past 2 years.

Baby girl is up, I'm going to the grocery for a couple of things for dinner.

BTW Kara - Can I have that recipe please? The kids love Ranch. The only way that Mia will eat Green Beans is the little Meat & 3. Finally asked what they did "special" - dry ranch dressing mix. She loves it! So chicken :thumbsup2

Renee - I agree with Debbie and Kara; that's too much of a drive for you to do yourself with the kids. Wait for when Carlos can go and then MAKE him go. It's his husbandly duty!

Yes, my birthday is friday, the 18th. I actually keep forgetting. My sister and her kids are coming up that day but she doesn't know what time yet. I told her it doesn't matter; she said she wants to try to be her in time to have dinner with me on my birthday. I was like, oh yeah, my birthday is friday. I know Lauren and Amanda have something planned for me though. I know I brag about Lauren a bit, but I have one more story: last year for my birthday, she called a couple of my friends in the area and had them surprise me at my favorite chinese restaurant for dinner. I had no idea and my friends were quite impressed to organized this on her own.

As for Amanda, I don't think she has a concept of something happening; but is aware of it when it's happening. Like I can tell her we're going to Disney and I don't know if she has the understanding of time; but when we get there, she knows she's there. She definitely knows when she's in the hospital. I tell all the doctors and nurses, if she doesn't recognize the sound of your voice, she'll shut down and close her eyes. I can't tell you how many times I come into her room and the nurse will say she's sleeping; I'll walk over to say hello and she pops her eyes open and she's wide awake. I feel like she's just laying there waiting for someone she knows to show up!:cutie:

This was in the AllEars newsletter and it just confused me.........

An upgrade to Disney's Dining Reservation System will begin July 21, 2008. As the application upgrade occurs, the latest reservation date guests will be able to secure is January 25, 2009. This means that in some cases you may not be able to book as far in advance as usual. (Note that reservation booking windows for Victoria & Albert's, Chef Mickey's and Cinderella's Royal Table will not be affected by this system upgrade.) Beginning October 24, 2008, the current system will be replaced by an improved system for dining, recreation and tour bookings. With the launch of the new booking system, reservations for dining, recreation, and tours will be made during one single transaction. Once the upgrade is completed the booking window will expand back to the normal 180 days.

Hi Cammie!

Liberty Square Bridge will be closed for refurbishment from August 15-29, 2008. Spectro Magic will not be performed during this rehab.

Can you imagine missing Spectromagic!

The Magic Kingdom has introduced a new vehicle for Grand Marshals with a uniquely Disney touch -- Mickey Mouse tread designs on all four tires and the spare tire attached to the rear. The new car now carries guests of honor down the park's daily parade route in grand style. To fit the theme of Main Street, USA, the Grand Marshal vehicle was designed after a 1912 touring car. The design also allows guests in wheelchairs to board easily and ride in the main seating area.

OMG I want these tires for my car! Wouldn't that just be the best to be leaving Mickey tracks wherever you drove!
