Happy 4th of July everyone!!

I hope everyone has a safe holiday!

My parents just dropped their dog off and of course the girls are making me crazy. We're making a cookie flag today. We rolled out the cookie, cooked it and now it's cooling off. Then we're going to pour down cool whip and then put blueberries and cherries in a flag shape. YUM!

Happy 4th of JULY!!!!!

Kara- That Monkey thing is crazy but the funny thing is DH wants to move to your Neighborhood. He has actually bookmarked it and we will start looking in a year or so. I told him that is to stockerish:lmao: We can't live in the same neighborhood.

Well everyone have a safe happy holiday our block party is tomorrow so we will be cooking all day long. I will try to check in later:flower2:

there is a wild monkey loose in our subdivision - it's all over the news! Now they think there may be a whole colony of them!

Renee - Here's where I stand on your scrapbooking stuff - I don't even know what it is you're talking about!!!! !
On the monkey - :scared1: COlony... :scared1: :scared1:
On the stuff - just look at these links. Basically, what I'm saying is if you need any of these embelishments (or I can make them like stickers too), let me know rather than paying $5 or so for them, cause I can make them from 1 inch to 5 inches on my die cutting machine.
I have...

Hi Girls. I'm in a FOUL mood today - due mostly in part to my ex! !
 Even though I think he is a bang up wonderful guy, :lmao: :rotfl2: , no seriously, I sware. He is such a brat. Seriously. Expecting you to just be there "in waiting" for him to do whatever. :sad2: It is sad that he doesn't open his eyes and realize how much that trip probably was meaning to Lauren deep inside. Men - Who knows what goes on in their heads, but the whole situation was messed up!!!!

I hope that Amanda has a great party tomorrow! We're doing a small one for hubby too. We're going to the inlaws so at least I don't have to clean! :dance3:

I am just chiming in...
I am so mad at my kids right now I am seeing stars. I

Happy 4th of July weekend!
We all have those days dear. Supernanny would run from my house screaming! :rotfl2:

and this was after letting him sleep until 9am!
I get mad at DH when he doesn't let me sleep in (that is 6 am in our house - sometimes he wakes me up at 4 am! :scared: ) So yes, I agree, long gone are the college sleep in days once you have responsibilities, but then again, since your ex doesn't act like a considerate grown up most of the time... why am I shocked? :confused3 ( you know I say things like this to cheer you up and make you smile rather than to be just a b***h about your ex-hatefulness, right???? )

Well sounds like everyone else has had the same kind of day as Me. I just had no control today Mike was driving me crazy and Badookie has been a terror. We went out to dinner and he pulled the table cloth off of the table I was so imbaressed I just picked him up and strapped him back in the high chair. My Poor mother took him out to the car to let me finish my meal.
Jillian, you poor thing, but remember, we've all been there and had that stuff happen. Just keep in mind that you aren't the first, and won't be the last. I'm glad you got to finish your dinner!

Hiya all,

happy 4th of July to you lot across the pond - though don't know if it is "historically appropriate " for a Brit......

Tessa
:lmao:

Seriously, so sorry to hear of all the yuck going over on the other side of the pond. I hope things get better - QUICKLY!

Happy 4th Ladies! We cooked out with the neighbors and got the kids in bed exhausted, but they had fun. I'm ready to turn in myself, but wanted to wish you all a lovely holiday! And a great holiday weekend!

Hiya all.....

OK I know you lot celebrate the 4th July - but what do you actually get up to?? I see lots of food related stuff going on....

Tessa

Anyhow -can I add to the cr***y days we are all having..... first a phone call -when we were over there our main credit card got cloned!!! So we have had it cancelled - luckily it was a known fraudster, so nothing lost....

then DD7 got an infection so she is now on the same penicillin her sister is allergic to - she hasn't had it before, so we are keeping our eyes open and buckets close by...

then my neighbour and friend told me her hubby left her yesterday.....:confused3 with 3 kids under 5 years old, no job and a big mortgage - a typical male mid-life thing of
"I don't want the responsibility for it all any more so bye and good luck to you..."

Life is never simple - I feel so much for her...........

Tessa

Yikes Tessa!:scared1: Someone copied your cc while you were here? Glad you caught it in time! Sorry to hear DD is under the weather; hope she's feeling better soon. As for your neighbor - :sad2: Yeah, that sounds familiar. What is UP with some men? I'm continually shocked by how selfish some can be!

Oh, have I got stories for you!!!!! Later :lmao:

Can't wait to hear them! Today is departure day, right?

My parents just dropped their dog off and of course the girls are making me crazy. We're making a cookie flag today. We rolled out the cookie, cooked it and now it's cooling off. Then we're going to pour down cool whip and then put blueberries and cherries in a flag shape. YUM!

Mmmm - I've always seen picture of this but have never attempted it myself. How it was good. We had friends over yesterday and we decided we were going with an "all-American" type desserts: we had apple pie, brownies, and root beer floats. YUM!

Tina- Yummy I am making a flag ice cream cake. I am using strawberries and blueberries. Also I made Monkey munch

Have you ever watched that show "Jon & Kate plus8" on TLC? The mom makes Monkey Munch all the time for her 8 kids and it looks so good. Thanks for posting the recipe - I may have to give it a try. One question though - Lauren is not a huge fan of peanut butter; can you taste it alot or can I leave it out?

On the monkey - :scared1: COlony... :scared1: :scared1:

Your posts always make me smile. It's funny to hear you go off on my ex - gives me a break!

I'm going to check out this scrapbooking stuff you posted. I'm not heavy into it but feel like I should be. I am such a picture freak and I think it would be fun to get more creative with all the shots I take. I still have a big envelope with all our stuff from Europe last summer; I told Lauren we would make a scrapbook of our trip - it's still sitting in my office; another unfinished product!

Hiya all.....

OK I know you lot celebrate the 4th July - but what do you actually get up to?? I see lots of food related stuff going on....

Tessa

Yes, as you can see from the above posts, it's very food-related! Now that I think about it -- most American holidays are centered around food!

Well, today is Amanda's birthday - my baby is 14! Man, I feel old!

So today will be another day of eating. I'm making a choc.layer cake; even though my darling can't eat it, I still believe every child should have a cake on their birthday. And our friends who have been living in England for the past two years are coming home today for good!:cool1: Lauren is so excited to have her best friend back in town. The friend already called yesterday; told us their flight gets in at 1pm; they should be home by 2:30 and then she's coming over to play Barbies!:rotfl:

Hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend!:flower3:

Hi everyone! We're still in Cali - will be home tonight. I've been reading adn trying to catch up, but It was late and I fell asleep. Just wanted to check in and wish you a wonderful weekend! I'll be back and I have lots of pics for my TR! I tried to find things that are different than WDW just for you Easterners!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO AMANDA! :bday: party: party: party: party:

Thanks for the birthday wishes for DD! (It's Amanda's birthday;) )

Not too much time to respond to posts, so I'll do what I can...

Ahhh.... we have the house to ourselves again! It was a very difficult week. My girlfriend is such a B****! We went up to the clubhouse for dinner on Thursday night while the guys golfed 9 holes. She was so mad that he went golfing and SHE had to watch the kids. WTH??? He does EVERYTHING with the boys. Bathes them, feeds them, disciplines them.... They talk back to her, don't listen, and she wonders why. So all she did was scream at them over dinner. Then her DH comes back with Jeff and the youngest wet his pants. She wanted her DH to go back to the house and get him cleaned up, even though their dinner had just arrived (we ate earlier before they finished golfing). I had to step in and tell her that I'd ride with her back to clean him up.

Then we ran into some neighbors so we invited them to pull up a table (we were just sitting outside on the deck anyway) and join us. She did not utter a word the whole night - mad that we invited our neighbors and mad that she had the kids for a couple of hours, etc. Then she and I ran to the store after dinner and when we got home all H*** broke loose because her DH did not have the boys bathed and ready for bed. OMG! Jeff and I just sat out on the porch and laughed. Her DH is a saint and she is the devil!!!

Yesterday one of Jeff's salesmen called about coming over and setting off fireworks. He lives in a very congested area and can't do it there, but he knows that we live in the back of our subdivision and there's nobody back here. So he bought illegal contraband (fireworks that go off the ground are illegal in FL) and came over and put on quite a show! We had neighbors come over and everyone hung out in our driveway and on the street out front of our house. About 10 kids with sparklers, golf carts lined up, beach chairs in the yard - it was a blast! And for fireworks being illegal in FL, there were about 3 or 4 other places right in the neighborhood that we could see that had to have spent well over $1000 on fireworks! Crazy! But it saved on driving somewhere for a 15 minute show (that could never come close to Wishes!) and then fighting traffic to come home. We said next year we're all gonna chip in like $100/house and get this guy to come back and really do it right!

Tessa - 4th of July is our most patriotic day - celebrating our freedom from those pesky Brits! :rotfl2: Seriously though, the pool had a flag raising, with a band playing the Star Spangled Banner, very touching, all the more since 9/11. Then yes, it's all about the FOOD!!!! And lots of parties. And Cammie is right (I think Cammie?) that we have Memorial Day and Labor Day (both good cookout parties!), Fathers Day is cookouts, Mothers Day is brunch, and of course Thanksgiving! All about the food!!!! No wonder we Americans are all overweight!!!!!:lmao:

We still haven't seen the monkey, although we did get a tree frog in the house yesterday - Jeff went running through the house like a little girl! :rotfl: My neighbor grabbed him and threw him out (the frog, not Jeff! :rotfl2: ).

OK, I'm off to go back to bed. I know it's 10:15 but I've been pushing it all week, not feeling well, trying to stay up and be a good hostess, but I'm wiped out now!

Hey Tammie - good to hear from you! So sad your trip is coming to an end, but looking forward to hearing all about it! Hope you all had a great time!

Thanks for the birthday wishes for DD! (It's Amanda's birthday;) )

OOPS! I used to know that! :rotfl:

Okay, I'm all caught up! I'm glad you didn't post 20 pages while I was gone!

Debbie - hope you are having a great time and making lots of memories!

Kara - :scared1: You have one crazy adventure and crazy wildlife story after another! I can't believe some people can act the way your friend did. My DDIL Lindsay is actually alot like that. It's really hard to watch your son be so henpecked - remember they live with us. Not only can she not be alone EVER, so there is always a reason he can't go fishing or play baseball or anything like that - but she lays around all day ordering him around because the baby keeps her up all night. BULL! We just stayed in the same room with them -she wakes up once briefly at 4am, gets fed and goes right back to sleep! :confused3 Here's just one example: We were at the DL Hotel, pool view with a balcony on the 9th floor. Mark was out there with Myles, who is standing there looking out, and he's holding the baby. Lindsay comes into the room and screams at him for having the baby out there - (he did drop her on her head a few months ago - so I can see her apprehension, but screaming makes everyone over react) so he takes one step back to hand her the baby, and then she screams at him because Myles is out there by himself! It was a constant barrage of her expecting him to be everywhere at once and waiting on her hand and foot.

Yesterday at Six Flags, we were leaving her at a table with the kids so we could go order food, and she had a fit - "you're just leaving me here?" I mean it was hard for the guys to carry everything - grow up!

Okay, rant over. I will probably not talk about that stuff on my TR, cuz its just too negative - but I know my friends here will listen! I really do love her, and I have to realize this is the life he chose for himself (at the age of 18) but sometimes it is so hard to watch. I do want to say that he is not an angel, either. I have talked to both of them about respecting each other in front of the kids. And he made some mistakes early in their marriage that I think he will pay for forever - still hard to watch your son live it, though. :guilty:

Jillian, hope you can have a great weekend - remember everything is a stage! Just when you figure out how to deal with it, Badookie will be on to a new stage for you to figure out!

Hi Renee! Now I see what the cricut is - I thought you said circuit! :rotfl2:
I can't imagine making enough stickers to pay for something like that! I guess if you are really crafty, but my scrapbooking is exactly what Kara described.

Well, I'd better get up and get packed so we can go home! Hi to Tina, Keahi, Laura, Pam (welcome back!), Whip, Justin (Welcome!), Tessa, Erin,
everyone else! On the Road Again........

Happy Birthday Amanda!

Tammie - I think you may know exactly what we go through with my friend - sounds exactly like Lindsay! Jeff started calling her Cleopatra while they were here, cause she just demands that her husband wait on her hand and foot, in addition to cleaning up after meals, watching the kids, making her a drink, adjusting the lighting, adjusting the volume on the stereo, doing their laundry, literally EVERYTHING!!! She goes on 2-3 weekend "Girls Only" trips each year (I absolutely refuse to subject myself to that so I'm always "busy") but will not let her DH go for a day to play golf. It's terrible. The best was when she yelled at him to go inside to check on the 3 year old, and when he came back out, the 6 year old had gone around the house and she chewed her DH out for not watching him too! It was almost funny! Same at the clubhouse. One kid was inside playing video games - sends him to check on that one. Then he comes outside and gets yelled at because the other kid is too close to the water watching the alligator. Oh, and "I thought you were getting me a glass of wine!" Poor guy can't catch a break!

Tried to nap today, couldn't do it - need to try again - we have nothing else to do really except relax. May hit the pool this afternoon late - the "dive in movie" is there tonight. Kids just bring their floats and they put up a big movie screen - kinda fun for adults too!

No cleaning will happen in this house until sometime tomorrow, if I'm lucky!

I'll catch up on posts later - welcome back Tammie and Pam!

Tammie - enjoy the rest of your trip! Can't wait to see your trip report! As for the Cricut, I made/making my own babie albums, plus I have a niece who's mom is wonderful (but oh so not crafty). I make a lot of our cards too, so yeah, rather than buying the stickers/letters at $5 a pop, it is shameful to say that I will save money with it. I think the cool thing is I can do more things that you can't find - like Chip/Dale, The Dwarfs (remember DD is a Snow White junkie), so I can definately see breaking even. The cart. are about $100 a piece, but I buy mine off ebay new for about $20. Takes a bit to get them, but eventually I will catch one for that! I just wait patiently. If you need anything too, just let me know! I'd be glad to help out.

:cheer2: Happy Birthday Amanda! :cheer2: We celebrated DH's with a chocolate layer power ranger cake that Nicolas picked out! :rotfl: Hope Amanda's party was fantastic. Pardon my stupidity on this one, but isn't 14 the official teenager starting point, or is it sooner than that? Can't remember. Anway, hope it was a wonderful party and you had a good time with your friends.

Tessa - here, it is somewhat about the food. We always grill and bring a side/app to share, but it is mostly about the fireworks and the drinking! :lmao: :rotfl2: Bigtime the drinking & chatting! :woohoo: Is that just a here thing? I don't remember anyone else mentioning the booze!:confused3

Kara - little Miss Martha - I'm thinking of taking pictures of my bonus room and seeking your expert advice. I want to do something, but I'm not sure what. I organized our closet and bought some hanging organizational things (makes me think I will do the California Closets thing in the spring), and I'm about to cut down our pergula in the back and redo some of the mulch with rock, but I have not a clue what to do for our bonus room (kids play room/my craft area/computer room/ guest room via pull out sofa. Nothin on the walls, funky layout... mountains of toys. I'm stumped.

Okay ladies. Off to bed now. I'm so tired. SIGH.

Jillian - are you still doing 1/2 daily? I'm thinking of downgrading to half, and then trying to get down to nothing. Wondering how that might work. I'm keeping headaches really bad here lately, and I'm wondering if that is the source.

Renee I am on a whole one until things get figured out with my thyroid. I will not meet with that doctor until Aug. 3rd and then we will go from there. My mom only takes 1/2 and she feels a ton better. I say give it a try and see if it works.

Happy Birthday Amanda Panda Bear:bday: party: :dancer:

Saturday, July 5th, 2008, 10:37am....... I saw taillights and it was a beautiful sight! :rotfl: I told Jeff their invitation is now closed. As is the invitation for his sister. They've both been here and I don't want either one back. Done.

Our next battle is going to be his sister in August. She told me when they're planning the baby's 1st bday party and baptism the same weekend. It's an 8 hr drive and I'm not doing it for a weekend. AND I'm not willing to waste any vacation days to see her. AND I'm not willing to spend the money to fly. So, guess we're not going! I know she'll tell Jeff's mom how terrible we are, but I can assure you that she would never make an 8 hr trip just to see us. They came to Ally's 1st bday party but they were only 4 hrs away and they didn't have kids then. Plus, Ally will be in school by then (late August) and I'm not pulling her out. So we'd have to leave at 5pm on Friday and get in around 1am. Then we'd have to leave around 11am on Sunday. Not worth it.

Renee - seriously, email me pics of your bonus room. I love playing around with stuff like that! We did our bonus room at our old house and it was great! It was a combo workout room, family room and worked out nicely.

My girlfriend gave me some great ideas for the drapes I want to do in the family room. I'm going to JoAnn's on Tuesday, get the fabric, and hopefully get it done this week! I'm soooo excited. That will finish off this room.

Tammie - so glad you're home! Have you started your TR yet?

Jillian - did Mike check out the website for our community online? It's awesome! The pools, the golf course, fitness center. I can't imagine having a summer like Ally's having. They go swimming several times a day, they play golf, tennis, and one field trip each week. They've been to the zoo, roller skating, next week is a Jacksonville Suns game (minor league baseball). I can't remember everything else that is scheduled. And I'll tell you what - right now there are so many foreclosures in the neighborhood. It sucks for us as homeowners here, but great for buyers!!! We could have bought a nicer home for about $50-$100K LESS if we were buying right now! It's crazy! Florida and California were hit the hardest in the housing market....

Renee - I think I'm beginning to understand the machine you bought. So you can layer the cutouts to basically make it 3D? I make take you up on that!

Cammie - how did Amanda's party go?

Debbie - hope you're having fun at the lakehouse!

Laura, Tina, GFATP, Pam, Whip, Justin, and everyone else (sorry, my mind is mush today!!!) - have a great Sunday!

Sunday is here, boy the weekend went by so fast! Glad to hear everyone had a good day. Funny a DIS friend who lives in the UK asked me what we do for the 4th of July. I had to sit back and say that's right they don't celebrate their independence like that because it's the US's independence from the UK. Strange.

We've been watching John Adams on HBO for the last few days and boy it makes you think.

Well the sun if FINALLY out so I'm going to throw the girls in the pool and soak up some rays. Have a lovely Sunday!!!

Hi guys! As Tina mentioned, the sun is finally out here; had been pretty gloomy the past few days.

Thanks for Amanda's birthday wishes!:) Jillian - that is EXACTLY what we call Amanda: Amanda PandaBear! That or - Pookie! So funny.

We had a subdued day - just had our friends who've returned from London over. My family will be up in two weeks and that will be the big blast. You know how it is with your kid's birthdays - the celebration has to last for weeks!

Here are just a few pix:

My birthday girl!

This was the Mickey Plush we got in WDW - you plug your Ipod into it. It was soooo cute - he wiggles when the music comes on!
DSC02933-1.jpg
DSC02935-1.jpg

So annoyed at myself though - once again, I FORGET to get MY picture taken with the birthday girl!:headache: Never fails, for both Amanda and Lauren's birthdays, I take all these pix and never have one with me in them!

cammie- My Best friend is amanda panda bear. I love love love it. It looks like Amanda loved that mickey mouse you can just see it in her eyes. That Lauren amazes me. She is just so good to her sister. You must be so very proud.

Kara - he looked at the community website. He and my parents are in love with it. I told him about your golf cart and he is sold. He has been looking into becoming a flight Paramedic aso we will see what happens.

Tina- Sunday did get here fast. We had our block party last night and the cook weather made it a little more enjoyable. Usually it is too hot to move. I am glad the sun is out we will be playing most of the day.

Tammie- How was you trip?

Well, dropped Jeff off at the golf course and he's out playing with our neighbor. Then Ally and I went to the pool, until we heard the thunder rumbling and looked out and it was getting black! I had the golf cart and we got caught in a t-storm once before and it's SCARY! So I threw our stuff in the bag and grabbed Ally and off we went! I'm not taking chances. We were only up there for an hour and there weren't many people there - so relaxing! But it looks like it's gonna be an all day rain with lots of storms popping up. So we're off to shower and just lay around the rest of the afternoon. I'm gradually getting my house back to "normal" so think I'll just rest now.

Cammie - love the pics of Amanda - Jillian is so right, you can tell how protective and loving Lauren is with her. She's such a good girl! Ally was looking over my shoulder at the pics and she had a lot of questions about Amanda. It's so hard to explain to a 7 year old cause then the question comes up, "Why did God make her that way?" Now how do you answer that??? I explained to her that she is a special girl and God gave her extra special parents and an extra sweet sister. So she's extra loved. She seemed to accept that. It's so tough for kids to understand if they've never been exposed to it.

OK, I can't believe I'm gonna do this but I think I'm gonna take a nap! I got up around 7 and took Bucky outside and fed him, then went back to bed until 10!!!! And I even went to bed around 10 last night, so how can I be so tired!!!

We still haven't seen the monkey, although we did get a tree frog in the house yesterday - Jeff went running through the house like a little girl! :rotfl: My neighbor grabbed him and threw him out (the frog, not Jeff! :rotfl2: ).
