Looking for Cabo advice

Thanks for the info Stacie. You confirmed what friends who've visited Cabo have told me. They felt completely safe getting to the arches by using people offering tours after they got off the boat and prices were really reasonable.

Just remember to always agree on a price first....whether it's a tour, a water taxi, or a regular taxi. After all the years of travel, we forgot one time last year and a taxi driver really stuck us good.:sad2:

I took DS7 and DD8 to Cabo 2 yrs ago. We stayed at a resort on Medano Beach. One day we took a water taxi to Lover's Beach. I actually asked to go to Chilano Beach but I guess he didn't understand me and assumed I wanted Lover's Beach. I think it was $9 for the three of us. The first challenge was getting in. We had to time it with the waves and jump in when he said. I helped each of my kids in and then got in myself. At one point the boat hit me because I was too slow and I got a bruise. If you do this, be prepared to get wet. Before dropping us off he slowed down over an area where we could see the colourful fish in the water through the glass bottom. Same deal as before. You jump out of the boat just after a wave goes out. This time there were people available to help - looking for a tip, of course. Then when he picked us up a couple of hours later (at no additional cost), he took us where we could get a great view of the Arches and see the sea lions. Then he took us over to the Pacific side of the Arches. I would have preferred he not do that. It was very wavy and scary for DS. But I definitely felt I had good value. My kids really enjoyed the interesting rock formations on the beach. But I'm not sure I would recommend this for really young kids as it might be a bit scary getting in and out of the water taxi.

I noticed that you were on the PC cruise. Did you happen to use Disney transport to get from the ship to the airport at the end of your cruise? I am wondering if they are using a service (like Meers in Florida) or if they are using their own buses with the DCL logo and movies, etc. I am hoping the second!

The buses aren't owned by DCL but are contracted out. I took some photos of the buses when the Wonder arrived in LA. You can see what they look like here. http://www5.snapfish.com/snapfish/t...otsc=SHR/otsi=SALBlink/COBRAND_NAME=snapfish/

I've heard there is a glass factory in Cabo, both my wife and I would like to see this. Is this easy to get to, if we just want to walk around town for a bit?

You are awesome! These photos are great! I especially like the one titled "My kids made me take this one" :rotfl:
From your pictures, it looks like some of the buses have Disneyland logos on them. It has been probably 20 years since I went to Disneyland; do they have transport around the complex like Disney World or are these likely to be Anaheim public buses with ads on the side???

The glass factory is just outside of town a ways, and you need to take a taxi to get there. I've been there twice, and I love it. Their prices aren't as cheap as I thought they'd be, but I love the pieces I've gotten there and love watching them do the work.
We had the taxi take us, and wait for us, and then drop us off in town to shop around and have lunch there. I think we paid $20 total for him the whole time.

I made the mistake ONCE of trying to get into and out of, a water taxi at Lover's Beach and won't ever do it again.
If people take the water taxi to just SEE the Arch, they'll get in and out of the taxi at the dock, which isn't nearly as traumatic. I ended up with bruises, too.

DL doesn't really have a complex to drive around. Any transport is either by trams or monorail.

In the past 20 years, they've built Downtown Disney and California Adventures. CA is where the old DL parking lot used to be. Downtown Disney allows you to walk from DL Hotel to the parks without crossing the street or taking the monorail (although that is still an option). The Grand Californian has one entrance to the street, one to Downtown Disney and another directly into California Adventures.

Those are GreyLine buses. There were also white coach buses parked along with the DL buses. I'm not sure if some took passengers to and from DL and others took passengers to and from the airports. They buses were lined up at the numbers (in one of the photos) and left at a specific time, regardless of how many people were on the bus.

Awesome, thank you! With two stops now in Cabo, we might just make the first day a relaxing day of shopping and exploring.

Don't be alarmed when it looks like the taxi driver is taking you to some deserted back alley.....that's just where the glass factory is located!;)

I suggest going to the forums on trip advisor. The group on that forum has been SO helpful for us in planning our trips to Cabo. We've been twice and love it! Just got back last weekend. :goodvibes

Hahaha, good to know. When I told DW we'd have to take a taxi to get there, I know she was a bit concerned about safety.

We did an ATV excursion while we were there as well.

As stated... Wear an old shirt and old shoes... (I never got the mud stains out of the shoes I wore).

We stayed a week there back in August of 2009.... Hotter than blazes... but we had a lot of fun.

Regarding the folks selling you things... ya... they can be a bit pushy... but, it's pretty easy to just smile... say no thank you ... and move along.

(I've had some practice at this... living in NYC).
