This is our first cruise and our first time to Mexico. Since our itinerary has changed we are stopping sin Cabo San Lucas twice. I had booked an excursion for Cabo and we decided to do our own thing for the first stop. Now I am wondering if we should bother with the excursion at all. Does anyone know if it is possible to pay a fee and spend the day at an all inclusive on our own, and is there any nest the port?

Along the strip of Medano Beach, which is basically the only beach, there are bars and restaurants that you can go to for the taxi fare only and get a lounge chair if you buy food or drinks, but all of the resorts along there are private. You CAN book their pool and beach areas at some of them for the day, ahead of time, but I don't think you are able to just walk up to them and pay a fee.

We booked at the ME Cabo Resort a couple of weeks ago and had a great day, but that one is for adults only. I'm not sure about any of the other resorts.
Try looking here for someplace to go to:

Thanks! I'll take a look and see what I can find...so much planning and so little time!

There's a bunch of little restaurants, etc along Medano beach that you can rent chairs, etc. (No pool...) In particular if my memory serves me ... "The Office" and "The Mango Deck" were two places that were open to rentals, etc.

The ocean is pretty rough there... but Medano beach is really the only place you are allowed to swim...

(try the food... it's amazing)...

My favorite restaurant there was Mi Casa ... (it's in town ... pretty close to Cabo Wabo).

Love Cabo and being able to go twice means two times at Maro’s Shrimp House! The best lobster ever!!! I found it on Tripadvisor.com! That web site has lots of good info!

Also, we did a Catamaran tour which included light snacks and drinks! Really relaxing trip and great view of the area!

We like to stay away from the bars and find something a bit more relaxing! Like others have posted going to the resorts are fun too! Walking the streets in Cabo can be a bit difficult with small children, so we always try to get the bike taxi! Or, we leave them on the ship and enjoy a nice lunch:cool2:

Can you elaborate on this please? How is it difficult to walk the streets with small children. I will have a 2 year old in tow and would like to be prepared. More than likely she will be in a stroller.

After our excursion and we took taxi over to the office beach and it was beautiful but one problem that lots of people keep pest you as they want selling something ... When we sat down for foods and people really pest us and I give it up and walked down the beach and met people from disney cruise and they took us to another hotel, oh it was beautiful... We took water taxi back to port

I like Cabo except pest people as couple told me that that is normal for their country ...

Forgot say that my two kids enjoyed the beach...

thanks

It’s just the way the streets are laid out. In the past they have had a great deal of construction going on and lots of traffic! The sidewalks really aren’t our version of sidewalks.

When you first get off the ship its fine. If you decide to go into the city more, it’s the side streets that can be difficult. Very skinny sidewalks. Not all the streets are this way, but if you plan on shopping or seeing the sights it can become a challenge.

Have a wonderful cruise and find Maros! If you like lobster, this place is for you!!!

Thanks for the info :thumbsup2. I'll keep that in mind.

We did a snorkel tour once on the catamaran Rissalena and it was the most perfect day I think we've ever had in Cabo. Pure luxury.
I think the cost is $60 for adults. You have to contact them via the email address, at the bottom of the web page under "Contact".
They also do whale watching tours, sunset tours, etc....click on each tab for a description.

I went with a tour from the ship (RCCL), but Disney is doing the same thing. If your children are comfortable with snorkeling its great! You can stay right with the boat, or follow the guide and he feeds the fish! Way cool!! But, be ready to be surrounded by fish!! Neat!!

Chileno Bay Snorkeling

I peeked around and it’s Tropical Tours/Tropicat

Ages-5 and up

Adults $75
Kids (5-9) $45

This is though the ship…

You can always try to plan something on your own, but Chileno Bay is about a 30-40 min boat ride away, so it might be risky doing it on your own, but many do! Just have a plan B!! We have done things on our own, but some days it’s nice to just know the ship will be waiting for you if something were to happen:flower3:

It’s a great trip!!! I had the best time!! Snacks and ‘drinks’ on the return:thumbsup2

A group of us went to Cabo a year ago and went on the ATV excursion. I wasn't really up to it at first (the guys recommended it) - but ended up having a BLAST! It was wonderful! If you go, wear old shorts/t-shirts - you'll end up dirty afterwards - but it's worth it!

If you decide to walk around, there is a restaruant/bar that has a tower (looks like a small lighthouse). It's a very short walk from the tender boats. You can walk up to the top for free and get a great view of Cabo.

We were just there last week and it's amazing how much it's changed since 2005. I loved Cabo in 2005 but now it's even better. Wish we had been given more time there :sad1:

I noticed that you were on the PC cruise. Did you happen to use Disney transport to get from the ship to the airport at the end of your cruise? I am wondering if they are using a service (like Meers in Florida) or if they are using their own buses with the DCL logo and movies, etc. I am hoping the second!

Subbing! Will be there in October 2011 with DH and DS10.

Would love to go snorkeling and swimming in Cabo but from what I've been reading the snorkeling isn't that great and the water is REALLY cold so am thinking probably no "in the water" activities.

A boat trip to view The Arches up close is my "must-do" so will be researching what companies offer this. I am sure that booking on our own would be less than half of the Disney excursion. If anyone can share their experience that would be great! :flower3:

Once you get off the tender boat, just past the pier, there will be a ton of people offering tours to see the Arch up close.
And you can also just take the water taxi over there and back. I think that only costs $2 per person.

Thanks for the info Stacie. You confirmed what friends who've visited Cabo have told me. They felt completely safe getting to the arches by using people offering tours after they got off the boat and prices were really reasonable.
