Not sure this is the correct forum to post?! DH really really wants to go, I could take it or leave it, preferably leave it, but hey it is his vacation too, so I have agreed. My current plan is to stay @Disney from 1/27-2/6 with free dining, and take a shuttle to US on 2/3 and 2/4. It was suggested perhaps we check out of Disney 2 days early and stay at Universal. Any thoughts on which is best? :worship:

We're doing the opposite of that next week. We're taking an early flight to Orlando and spending our arrival day, our first night, and all the next day with Universal. We're spending that night at the Hard Rock Hotel, and our room key should get us FOTL for both days (though not in WWoHP) and early admission to IoA (which is the real reason for staying that one night on property). We'll head over to our Disney hotel around dinner time that second night.

I should say that we're only doing Universal on this trip because DD7 is a HUGE Harry Potter fan, and has been begging to go to WWoHP since it was first announced. I know that there's much more to do/see at Universal, and we very well may spend more time there next visit. But for this visit, it's an adjunct to our Disney plans. DS3 is not really much for rides yet, so he'll probably get more out of Universal on a subsequent visit anyway.

One other note, it seems that there aren't really any "deals" on Universal tickets and lodging unless you're there at least three days. We did buy our tickets for a bit of a discount through Undercover Tourist. But the discounts for longer stays were MUCH better.

We are also making a stop at US on r way to WDW and Harry P is the reason, we are doing US 1st for 2nights and then to the World for 8 had to let DH got to see HP and his castle but then on to WDW my favorite

I'm curious what you mean by not getting in early to WWoHP... we are going to be doing the exact same thing, spending one night at a Universal Hotel to get the FOTL passess for two days, before going to Disney. WWoHP is also our main reason for squeezing this side trip in, and I was planning on going early to WWoHP on that second day... do you not get in early with just having one night in the stay or something? Sorry my quote above is not highlighted, if someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong with that too that'd be great, lol!

I think what the poster is saying is not getting FOTL For WWoHP, since it currently isn't offered at the FJ. :goodvibes

I am also planning a visit to Universal this next trip. My DS is graduating from college & I promised him a Universal visit. Not sure if I want to go there first & then Disney or the other way around. He does want to stay at HRH. I think I would like to get Universal out of the way & then end the vacation at Disney. Not sure on how transportation would work either:confused3 Can we use Magical Express one way?? Should we use Mears or a cab to get from Universal to Disney??

I suggest doing Disney first. Universal is much more laid back and relaxed (especially if you stay onsite). Disney's lines and hectic pace seem even much more so if you do it after Universal.

:) That has happened to me too. Be sure to use the quote button to initiate your post and if you use only part of the post, be careful to keep all of the info between the [ ] before and after.

Have a great trip.:yay:

:thumbsup2

Also, if you do stay onsite at Universal, going from their version of "deluxes" to Disney's moderate, you may very well end up missing the Universal Hotel. I personally prefer staying onsite at Universal after Disney if we plan a split trip. 2 double-size beds with having to use transportation to get most anywhere @ Disney compared to 2 queen-size beds and being within walking distance to the 2 parks (and included Front of the Line Access for most of the attractions and shorter wait times for restaurants (at least the last time we stayed you got in quicker at the restaurants with a keycard, I'm sure some of the regulars can say if this still holds true or not)for staying onsite) @ Universal Orlando ends up seeming like a downgrade. And my favorite resort at Disney is a moderate (POR), so please don't take that comment as a diss towards Disney about it being a downgrade, it is just my opinion.

We'll be doing a split trip in one month, starting at Disney and moving to Universal. We've been to Disney quite a few times, so I decided to stay three nights at Universal after four at Disney. I have been going back-and-forth on this decision as we know the things we like to do at Disney and want enough time to do them. But, I hope that we'll have some down time at the HRH, enjoy the pool, and that Citywalk will keep us entertained at night. Since it is Jersey Week, I also hope the extra time will let us enjoy more of Universal. I am excited to visit a new place and hope there is enough for all of us to do and end our vacation on a high note.

You are allowed to pool hop at Universal so that might give you even more to do. I think that you'll find enough to do to fill the time. :)
