looking for batteries for a digital camera

I am looking for rechargeable batteries for my new digital camera. I am looking to get the best battery for the money. I would like to get a charger and eight AA betteries. I have seen them for as little as $12 or as much as $80.

I would spend $80 if it would be worth it. Is there that much of a difference in them? Can you recommend a good brand? I have a Canon A70.

we have the Olympus Camedia C720 -- bought Energizer rechargeables and charger with purchase -- they charge really fast - don't develop a memory - and cost us about $50 for 8 batteries and the charger -- have been worth their weight in gold for quick charge and use -- our camera uses 4 batteries at a time, so have another 4 charged and ready to use ---- good luck and happy snapping Coleen

We also have the Canon A70--just bought it. I ordered the C401 batteries and charger from Thomas Distributing.com. These were recommended by the DIS digital photo guru, Zurg. I will be getting eight NiMH AA batteries, a charger, 12V cord, four holders and a case for about $63 plus shipping. These batteries can be rechaged in about 100 minutes if needed quickly, or five hours if not needed right away.

I know then next best batteries were around $45 with alot of the same accessories.

Have not received them yet, so not sure how they work, but they are very highly reviewed.

How do you guys like your A70's? I'm thinking of buying one within the next few days. Are they easy to learn to use?

There are a bunch of guys at work that are purchasing rechargable batteries and chargers from www.batteryspace.com this week. They shopped around and found some pretty good bargains there.

Apparently the most highly recommended NiMH battery available today is the Maha C204-F. You can find this charger at several internet sites by doing a google search.
