My 10 year old DS with AS loves the water, but is easily overwhelmed by large crouds and prone to getting lost/disoriented in water parks.

We're going in early October. Does anyone have advice on whether we should chance one of the waterparks? If so, which is a better choice? Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach?

Thanks for your help!

At that time the water parks should not be crowded. Also, we have very effective porcedures in place for handling misplaced children. You might want to consider getting a plastic wristband or a dog tag for him to wear giving your name and cell phone number and an indication of Aspergers; that way if he does get misplaced we can contact you. And make sure that he understands that if he does become misplaced to go to any lifeguard or anyone wearing a cast nametag.

We have been to both water parks with our daughter (autism) during low season. It was very hard to keep track of her - at blizzard beach, it's a lot of slides and they don't always come out where you would expect - and at Typhoon lagoon, the big wave pool would send people in every direction, so it was hard to keep track of her there. I love the water parks, but I don't think I would go again with my daughter. She has a lot more fun staying at the resort at the pool - and is able to just play in the water there - much more relaxing for all of us - and the enviornment was much more controlled.
