Looking for a Stollen recipe...

I have posted this also on the Cruise Board as the particular type of recipe I am looking for was sampled at the Palo Brunch.

This Stollen wasn't 'just' bread, it was very light and filled with some sort of almond paste...I can't tell you how delicious it was!

Anyhow, I quite fancy trying to make this myself for Christmas, but every recipe for Stollen I've come across is just the regular bread...and naturally, now I've set my mind on making <b>only</b> the type I tasted in Palo, no other will do

Can anyone help?

Although I can't help with a recipe, I wanted to tell you about delicious stollen I served on Thanksgiving morning. It had a marzipan filling along with dried fruit and nuts and was covered with powdered sugar. I bought it at World Market. If you don't have one locally, I know you can purchase online, if you are interested. world market

Thanks Hunnypots! The Stollen you served on Thanksgiving morning sounds delicious too...the marzipan filling sounds very similar to that which I had at Palo! (Though it seemed it was a little more almond paste-y than marzipan)

Unfortunately, I am in the UK so buying it from World Market isn't really an option but I'm pretty sure if I look for it hard enough I'd be able to find it in a decent sized store over here somewhere....it's just I've got this bee in my bonnet now about making it myself, LOL. I'll keep looking for a nice tried and tested recipe...I've also emailed DCL now to see if they might be willing to share theirs. Otherwise I'll cave in and buy one I guess....

I've had good luck asking Disney for recipes from the Magic. You might ask them and see what answer you get. Sounds good. If you receive an answer, please share it with us.

Penny here's a link to a Stollen recipe. It says that it's from the Dorchester Hotel. Of course they converted the recipe to American amounts, I hope that you can convert it back. http://bread.allrecipes.com/az/ChristmasStollen.asp

Also you can order a stollen from www.swisscolony.com I don't know if they will ship to the UK though
