Hi, I am new to this particular board. I am making a trip to Disney at Thanksgiving this year and we are driving from Louisiana (about 10 hours). We will be leaving after school Friday (my husband and I are both teachers and no, we cannot take off that day for various reasons) and driving thru the night, I figure from around 4pm - 1 or 2 am. I dont want to pay $200+ for an extra night at a Disney hotel so I figured I would get something reasonable (ie. cheaper) off site but close, so that we can get up the next morning, head over to POFQ to check in and hit the park.

However, I usually fly so I dont have to worry about things like this so I dont really know of any good hotels to look at. Does anyone know of a nice hotel, not extravagant but not a roach motel either, that I can get just to crash in for like 5-6 hours, I would appreciate you steering me in the right direction.

Thank you!!

We stayed at the Hampton Inn Lake Buena Vista under similar circumstances. We paid about $90 a night. Nothing fancy but I would stay there again. It is very close to Disney property and there are lots of restaurants in the area.

The Hampton Inn LBV, Hilton at DTD (I usually find specials for them online), Embassy Suites LBV, Caribe Royale, BV Suites

Wyndham Grand Hotel in Lake Buena Vista. Can't get much closer to Disney than that.

Depending on what you think of as close, we just got back from a stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Davenport. It is about 15 minutes south of the parks.
We absolutely loved the stay. Very clean hotel with real nice staff. Our week averaged out to 55 bucks a night. If you go you will love the free breakfast. Pretty much everything you could want the bar has it.
Look for HIE on Hotel Drive in Davenport. There is a Comfort Inn right next door that we have booked for a similar price in August.
I am gonna post a full review of the hotel subforum later.

We usually fly in late and stay the first night at Buena Vista Suites. I usually get it around $100. No resort/parking fees. Very clean. Comfortable beds. Nice staff. The Free buffet breakfast is nice, you are not just stuck in a corner of the lobby, but it is set up in its own very large room like a true buffet. There isn't much traffic there and basically you turn right from the parking lot and are on Disney property. We find it to be a really good value.

Agree with puffkin! We spent Thanksgiving night (last year) at Buena Vista Suites at a rate of $99. That included a decent hot breakfast for six people, I think we had pancakes and bacon. The kids ate cold ceral and some fruit. We were very pleased with the lodging and found it a great value as well. It's super close to the parks and we really had no complaints!

Good luck with your choice. There are plenty of nice options nearby.

Enjoy your trip! :)

I also agree that the Hampton Inn Lake Buena Vista is a good option in the $100 range. :) There are many hotels in that area on Palm Parkway usually at decent rate. I have booked a few through hotwire - searching for LBV.
