So DH and I just booked a quick trip for our anniversary! We'll be staying at ASMusic October 19-21. Since its such a short trip, I didn't really want to spend the extra money on a moderate or deluxe since we won't be spending much time at the resort. Now I have planned multiple trips to Disney as you can see from my signature lol, and thoroughly enjoy the planning part. This trip, though, I want the planning to be minimal and just kind of go with the flow . . . more laid back, no stress, no rushing, just soaking up the Disney magic in a few of the parks. We will do MK, DHS and EP, but not sure yet what day we will do which park. I'd like to focus on some of the underrated classic Disney things in MK we didn't take the time to do when we were there in June with the kids/grandkids, i.e. CofP, PeopleMover, Country Bears. Would like to see the new Little Mermaid and Villians shows and ride Slinky Dog in DHS, maybe RnR too since it is changing, and in EP stroll WS a little, ride Frozen and Soarin. Would also like to see some of the street performers in all 3 parks. There may be other things we do, of course, but those are at the top of my list. We will arrive on Sunday around noon to the resort. It's a party day at MK, so not sure if we should go there until 6pm, and then use our full day for DHS and EP . . . or vice versa. Anyone care to offer their opinion lol?

FWIW, I may book a bounce back for next year while we're there, so there will be more opportunity then to do some of the things we don't do on this trip. I pretty much have decided I'm a "go-to-Disney-at-least-once-a-year" kinda gal. ;)

We mostly plan our mornings and our meals. If we do any LL, it's usually just 3. That gives us a lot of time to be spontaneous, and they have been some of our best trips.
I know some people like to plan even less, but I think we found our sweet spot.

Normally I'd say no way to doing MK on a party day from 1-6pm but if you all you really want are low demand things like you listed I don't think the crowds will affect you much. It won't take long to do that chill stuff so it might actually be good use of that half day.

I am a little concerned about that honestly. If we get to the resort around noon (flight lands at 10:30am), I figure the best we can do to the park gate is 12:45pm, right? Chances are that's not gonna be enough for me, so I should probably think about doing DHS or EP that afternoon/evening, start the next morning off with the other one and get to MK at least by 2pm (closes at 10pm).

If it's an option, can you add park hopper to your tickets? You can go to MK on arrival day to take advantage of lower crowds then hop to another park for the evening. You can get a lot done in the MK on a party day, especially until 4PM.

If it's not an option, there is a lot of great information available above.

If it were me, I would do DHS on arrival day. It looks like it closes at 9 pm, so that should give you ample time to do what you would like in the park. Maybe consider purchasing LLMP since you are hoping to hit two of the more popular rides? I would not do MK (due to the party) nor would I do EP on a weekend evening during F&W particularly as you would like to stroll WS. I would then do EP the next morning and try to get there as early as possible if you want to stroll WS. You could easily stroll, ride Frozen (again, maybe purchase LLMP?) and Soarin' and then monorail over to MK for the rest of the day.

One caveat - if you finish with DHS early on arrival day, I would, possibly consider hopping to EP to do Soarin' and maybe get in line for Frozen just before park close. I've found that FW clears out a bit in the evenings as people start staking out their spots for the fireworks and the line for Frozen should start to dwindle by then as well. That would then give you the entire next morning just to stroll EP.
