Just bought darling son an Ipod this weekend. We installed the disk on the computer, and we were able to get songs into I-Tunes. Now we're having trouble (no luck at all) getting them onto his Ipod. The information sheet that came with it certainly doesn't tell much! Can someone clue us in how to get this done?

Thanks!

I just asked DH, and he said that by just plugging in the Ipod to the computer that it should update the songs automatically. Do you have the cord plugged into the right spot in the computer?

Exact same thing happened to me, and you are correct, directions stink.
What I did figure out was to add the songs to my "library" and then there was an option to transfer my library or something like that.
Hope that very vague directions help. :teeth:

Assuming that your COM interface is working correctly (which isn't necessarily a safe assumption, as I have unfortunately learned :furious: ) and that you've installed the software from the disk that came with the iPod, iTunes should detect your iPod automatically. If, after you've plugged it in and given the comp. a sec to detect it, you don't see the iPod appear in iTunes's source list, click Start > My Computer and see if it appears there. If it does (and still isn't showing up in iTunes), I'd go through the steps listed here and see if that fixes things. For some stupid reason, I have to do that EVERY SINGLE TIME I connect my iPod, which enrages me to no end, but at least the bloody thing "works" most of the time now.

You might also poke around on ilounge.com, which is a site run by iPod owners. Their forums contain an absolute wealth of information. Good luck!

Don't know if your ipod is even showing up on your itunes, but what I found was that if your ipod is totally dead, it won't show up automatically when you plug it in. It needs to build up a bit of a charge and then itunes will recognize it.

I assume from your post that you did get the songs in your music library? Once you connect the ipod to your computer, open itunes and it should automatically update itself (it will say "dont disconnect" on the ipod itself and "updating ipod" on the itunes opening page). If you add more songs into your library, go to File (very top left of the window)-> Sync Ipod to manually update your ipod. hope this helped a little let us know :thumbsup2

Is the iPod showing up in the list on the left? When you plug it in, iTunes should walk you through registering your iPod and naming it for iTunes. Once you get this done, click on Edit, Preferences, iPod. You should see a list of "folders" that will update each time you plug in the iPod. Make sure there are check marks in those boxes. If you create your own folder, you will have to do this to make sure your folder has a check mark in it to update.

I hope I can explain the problem I had with connecting to my computer. When we tried to connect to the computer, the website was not reading the Ipod. We had a plug installed in the front of the tower so we wouldn't have to reach out back to connect. For some reason this "non direct" connect wouldn't work it had to be plugged into the back. The "extension" to the front caused the problem.

I tried everything but my son was able to figure it out.

Thanks for the replies! I see this is something that will have me mumbling under my breath. So far, no luck. My Computer? I can't even find it! I have "Application" on my Apple laptop. Ha! You would think an Apple computer would be compatible with this thing! I'll go get a bit more frustrated.

Thanks!! :)

When Itunes is open and the ipod is plugged in, do you "see" his ipod listed on the menu on the left in itunes?

If so, it's basically drag and drop to get the songs on there.
