Hello~

I wasn’t sure where to post this question but I’m hoping someone might be able to provide a little insight.

With all of the recent changes ( extended hours etc.) I’ve opted to add one more night to our trip. I’ve been searching for months but have been unable to secure an AKL Savanna View Studio for Feb 2022.

I’m starting to get a little nervous and am unsure if it’s likely to book another night. Is it realistic to hold out a little more hope? Or should I change my flight now before I’m stuck at DW with no place to sleep? 😁

Any guidance is appreciated.
Thanks

You could always book an airport hotel and on your last Disney day have Bell Services keep your luggage until you are ready to move to the airport accommodation. What time is your flight?

I'd say this. I know AKL and AKV had one-night availability for some Feb dates (from my own searching) but I didn't pay attention to savanna vs. not. Some things will possibly open up near 30 days before (you didn't say when in Feb). If it were me, I'd reserve a one-night somewhere (whether non-savanna, airport, whatever) and search and make a decision closer to 15 days before (many refundable rooms are refundable up to 5 days before or so).

Something may open up, but, in the meantime, I would book a one-night stay (if available) in any room at AKL. You would have to switch rooms, but at least you won't have to transfer any luggage as bell services can hold it for you while you go about your day. We had to do something similar to this at CCV, so we just gave bell services our luggage, went to the parks and, when we returned late in the evening, picked up our bags and went to our new room for the night.

Thank you everyone for the feedback. Just this morning a 1BDRM AKV became available. I will try to book that and continue to watch in hopes a studio opens up.

Rooms become available multiple times a day, every day. You just need to be fast enough to secure it. Many people cancel a week or so prior to arrival. When I'm trying to secure a specific room, I check at the following times (Eastern):
  • 7 AM (it seems that most rooms become available in the overnight hours, and are available at this time)
  • 12 PM
  • 5 PM
  • 10 PM
There is absolutely zero science behind those times. It's just what has worked for me in the past. I was able to secure a Studio at Poly 1 week prior to arrival by checking every day at the above times. Stay logged into the Disney World website on your phone so that if the room becomes available, you just need to navigate to your reservation and make the modification.

Thank You EpcotPhoenician.

I’ve set reminders on my phone for those times and will keep searching. (SMH- The things we will do for our children.)
