For all of you folks who know the lay of the land, is there a really
good Mexican restaurant (or a restaurant with Mexican dishes)
at WDW, Universal, or near WDW?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Bump!

Doesn't anyone know where to get good Mexican food in or near
WDW?

Uh-oh...

I love San Angel Inn,but some people hate it

I agree with Jenny; San Angel Inn is one of our favorite restaurants at WDW, but a lot of folks don't like it, so...Then again, a lot of folks rave about the great food and service at Fulton's Crab House, and we've had nothing but disasters each time we've tried it. Everyone has a different set of expectations, and a different experience, each time. But we have never had a bad meal at San Angel Inn in the dozen or more times we've eaten there.

Thanks everyone! I think we'll give San Angel Inn a try. We've never
eaten there - just the little CS place outside.

I also love St Angel BUT they do not serve the normal dishes you would expect from your local Mexican places but we enjoy it to be honest they have more of the normal dishes at the counter right outside, my kids actually prefer to eat there...

I think it may depend on where you live.. The food is very close to what I was used to eating in San Diego , especially the Carne Asada

When we head to WDW next Jan we're planning on trying the Mexican Favorites night at Golden Coral Buffet. I've no idea what its like but past non-mexican buffets there have always been good so maybe worth a shot? Think its on Wed nights

When you go to San Angel you will get Mexican food, not Tex-Mex which tends to be very common in the US.

We are big fans of "Americanized" Mexican food ... i.e. loved Chi Chi's when it was around. So with that in mind, we have eaten at San Angel's twice and really didn't like it. To me, it is too authentic.

We don't have a Chevy's (another chain Mexican restaurant) near us, so we enjoy that restaurant when we're in the WDW area. We stayed at the Country Inn & Suites in Lake Buena Vista a few years ago and it is right down the street.

I'm one of the ones who will not go back to SAI. The service was slow and very rude and the food was barely passible under the best of circumstances.

I thought San Angel Inn was very authentic, I hadn't eaten there in a few years so I couldn't remember what it was like. And than from reading some negatives reviews here I didn't know what to expect. My two friends and I had a late lunch there and all three of us really enjoyed our food. We're all Latino so we know good Mexican food. As a matter-of-fact, I had planned out the entire trip since neither of them had been to Epcot and I had. Originally I had asked them what they wanted to eat and they said they didn't care. Since Mexico in my opinion has the nicest ambiance, I made ADR's there. So one of my friend's tells me afterwards, "we should have ate at Moracco since we can always eat Mexican" I told her "i asked you!" Isn't that something, at first no one has an opinion and after it's all said and done, the opinion's come out. Oh well!
However, on the service it was very slow. My friend had ordered a virgin margarita which didn't arrive until she was finished with her dinner. We thought the server had forgot, but to cover himself up he said he was bringing her dessert which was the drink.

We love San Angel, never had a problem with service, atmosphere is wonderful and thr food is really good - not tex-mex like most are used to!! :woohoo:

I agree. We wont go back either. We didnt enjoy the food at all. And while the service was not rude, the service was indeed slow.

We have several authentic Mexican restaurants in our city that are not Tex-Mex in the slightest. Frankly, I would rather eat at any of them than at San Angel Inn.

I'm pretty sure that there is a Chevy's at Crossroads. Our family loves this Mexican restaurant, it is one of our local favorites at home. The prices are decent too.

I think it is a matter of where you are from and what you expect out of a Mexican restaurant. For me, I love Tex-Mex. I am not crazy about authentic dishes from Mexico. I believe SAI is more authentic Mexican than Tex-Mex.

Chevy's is at the Crossroads and we have eaten there both times we have to to the world. We always walk from DTD and it's a nice walk although it's a bit far away. We love Chevys :thumbsup2 !

I agree with YesYourMajesty!

I grew up on Mexican food and the restaurant in WDW is NOT very good...I know some like it. I guess if you are used to the real stuff it just doesn't compare. Kind of like a Mexican t.v. dinner as compared to home cooking.

I have really enjoyed the San Angel Inn every time I've stopped there for dinner. I especially enjoy the steak dish, but can't remember what it is called.

Highly recommended.

Enjoy.
