Could someone recommend a great AAA agent that knows allot about Disney.
We are not AAA members yet but are looking into it ...
We are going to Disney in November of this year and for a long vacation in May/June of next year. After seeing no discounts for AP holders for late fall for our dates I think I should at least look into getting a AAA membership just for some type of discount.
Thanks for any info..

You don't HAVE to use a AAA agent to get a AAA rate.

You can call Disney directly to get a AAA ROOM ONLY rate.....or if you want a package you can actually do that online at AAA. You will need to have your AAA membership in place though, as they will want your member number.

I know I've read about some really good Disney-smart AAA agents that people here have used, but since, far as I know, they aren't going to continually be checking for new codes that come out for you, I'm not quite clear what a AAA agent could do for you that someone like Dreams Unlimited or MouseforLess or the other specialized Disney Travel Agents couldn't do better. At least the other TA's will be looking for discounts for other than AAA. The other TAs will also make your ADRs for you, I believe.....personally with all the variables possible for ADRs, I prefer to do them myself as most times you have to make on the spot decisions when something isn't available exactly as you want time/date wise.

I have AAA and just this morning switched to the AP rate, it saved me only about $222, but that's a rate savings I'm not sure a AAA agent would have gotten me. Now I'm hoping that Disney VISA has an even better discount, or at least better availabity.

I just got off the phone with my AAA agent this morning. She said she is getting calls about the codes/pins etc. but that she is not privy to when they come out. She said as so as I get a PIN or three letter code to call here immediately and she will apply it and see what happens. I already have a package booked through them and saved 15% over rack right now. Well worth the membership to AAA.:thumbsup2

YesMickey.....these are the codes being reported:

Room only AP: PWE

AP with base dining:DHZ

AP with dlx dine: JZJ

You should also be able to just call and ask for the AP rate.

And just wanted to point out that the non-AAA travel agents would have known that already....they wouldn't be waiting for YOU to give them the codes. These are public codes. The fact that your AA agent didn't know about the codes, or didn't even know you don't actually NEED the code, you can simply call and say "I'd like the Annual Pass rate" means that she may not really be knowledgeable about Disney.

Thanks, but I don't have an AP. I am waiting for the Disney Visa code that is supposed to show up tomorrow.:thumbsup2

Well, they should also be able to simply ask for the Disney VISA rate....but if your agent needs a code, just check here....it'll likely be posted here before it gets posted on DisneyRewards.com. They're pretty slow to update the websites.

Isn't it that only AAA can make a AAA *package*? That is, any TA can only make AAA room-only reservations.

So if you want dining for example, you would have to go via AAA as dining can only be done with a package...

Please correct me if I'm wrong...

Right. You can book a room through Disney and use your AAA discount just like any other hote. However to book a "package" or "vacation" and use your discount you must go through AAA. I have yet to have any problems with AAA agents and Disney. It is almost like with get priority treatment with a AAA package. Also I spoke with my agent whom I am booked with currently for a trip in Nov. and mentioned to her there may be a Disney Visa discount available tomorrow and she told me "Great, just call me when you get and PIN or code and we will try to apply it for you.":thumbsup2

You can book the packages online at AAA yourself, or you can call a AAA agent.

The point I was trying to make to YesMickey is that the agent isn't doing the work for YesMickey.....they're telling YM to do the code hunting, when it truly should be the other way around. The agent should already know about that rate coming out soon and be prepared to call and secure it for their customer. The TA's that specialize in Disney are already prepared and waiting for it to come out and planning to be right there johnny-on-the-spot for their customers, not waiting for their customer to call them to request the discount. You could call Disney and request it yourself, so what good is the TA if they're not doing the work? Just my opinion of course, but a good TA should be doing the work and telling the customer what discounts they got for them, not the other way around!
