I'm going to cancel our ADR at Ohana for dinner, and change it to something else. I have read too many changes I am not crazy about and talked it over with my husband and we decided to change the ADR to something else. Trouble is...I am not sure what to pick.

So far all of our ADRs are for all-you-can-eat places. We are on the DDP and our little one is only going to turn 1 in May, so he is not on the DDP (only those over 3 are on it), but children under 3 eat free at buffets and family style, plus we wanted to sample different types of food, and having a 3-year-old and 1-year-old with us will be easier at buffets and family style. Also feels like more bang for our buck since they took away the app for the 2008 plan.

So, another option we were considering was 1900 Park Fare. I know it is princesses which are not the greatest choice for boys, but I hear the entertainment by the stepsisters and stepmother is hilarious. We are doing 4 other character meals throughout our trip, none with princesses, and I really wanted to see the Grand Floridian anyway. Would be nice to eat at that resort and dream of affording to stay there one day!! How is the food there? Seems like a decent selection from what I have read.

What are some other really good options at the resorts? This will be on the day we go to the Studios, and we are doing the breakfast at Hollywood & Vine that same morning. We really want to go to a restaurant at a resort and avoid the park in the evening since we are not staying for Fantasmic anyway (think the kids are too little yet so will do that on a future trip...something to look forward to!).

Any sit-down table service places really good without buffet at resorts? Looking for good food, good bang for our buck, not a signature restaurant, someplace great for little ones and doesn't take forever to eat dinner there.

Suggestions? Personal experiences with resort restaurants? Oh by the way, we are already going to Boma one evening and to Chef Mickey's one morning for breakfast so those are not options for dinner.

Thanks,
Bonnie

Forgot to add, we do not have a park hopper ticket and do not plan to get one (little kids; budget issues), so eating at a different park is also not an option for us. Thanks again!

Anyone? Suggestions? I would like to change my ADR tomorrow if possible! Thanks again!

For all you care to eat places, I have been to Boma, Chef Mickey, Crystal Palace, Liberty Tree Tavern and Gullivers (which is not on the DDP)

All four places that I have been were good, but of the three resort places I've been to, two are ones you're going to and the other is not on the DDP.

I'd say if you want to see the Grand Floridian, go with your gut and do 1900 Park Fare.

Otherwise I've heard great things about Cape May.

Well, if you will be at the Studios, you could take the boat over to the Boardwalk area for dinner. Spoodles would be great (not a buffet, but family oriented), then you could walk around the Boardwalk and watch the jugglers/magicians.

Then take the boat back to the Studios, and pick up your resort bus.

Check out the menu for these non buffet places
Grand Floridian Cafe
Kona or Ohana at the Polynesian
Turf Club at Saratoga Springs
Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club (new)

Well you said not a Buffet, but we really like Cape May at Beach Club. It is a New England Clam Bake with prime rib, all the sides.

Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge is a lot of fun with kids.

We love 1900 park Fare at Grand Flordian.
Bomas at AKL but again it is a buffet. We eat there every trip!

i was also going to suggest cape may. my dh and his sisters loved the clams, i don't eat any kind of seafood and they had alot of other options, plus there is a kids part of the buffet which my 6 yo loved with with hot dogs, chicken strips, mac and cheese....their deserts are great, we just brought up a plate and picked one of everything, set up a mini desert buffet in the middle of the table. yes, we were "those people" who took a picture of the deserts with my sister's camera. highly recommended. we ate there looking for a great family meal on christmas eve and it was perfect.
