Looking for a good place to eat dinner in Downtown Disney...Suggestions?

We'd like to walk around Downtown Disney one evening, and I am hoping to find a good place to eat. I'd like to make a reservation now (we are going in May) so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I always find these boards to be very helpful. Thanks so much!

Can you tell me what kind of a restaurant this is? We have three little girls, ages almost 6, 4, and 2, so I want to make sure it is a child friendly restaurant. I should have posted that in my original post, I think!

We love Wolfgang Pucks on the West Side - they have great pizzas for the kids plus a bunch of other kids items and great entrees for adults. I agree that Raglan Road is also good but my kids were so-so on the menu - it's an Irish Pub. Never ate at TRex but went in and sat at the bar for a bit and it's a really neat atmosphere if your girls love loud dinosaurs.

Ah yeah, RR can be a coin flip when it comes to kids.
Don't let the pub part of RR scare you, it's very family friendly. My two daughters 6 & 8 loved the music and the clogger. But if your little ones are picky eaters, as PP suggested Rain Forest or Trex might suit them better.

In my opinion, I'd go to Earl of Sandwich instead of a table service. The food there is absolutely great. I have yet to find any TS at DTD (and we always have a dining plan) that is worth it. We would never recommend Raglan Road as they have very poor management and terrible hostesses. This is the one restaurant anywhere (at WDW or home) I would never return to because the service was so poor.

In terms of children at the restaurant, I would also steer clear of it. This is an Irish pub, not a family restaurant. While they do have a kids' menu, please keep in mind that this restaurant caters towards the adult crowd. It can get quite rowdy in there especially during the bands' performances.

Looking at the ages of your children, you are probably better off with one of the themed Landry's restaurants like T-Rex or Rainforest Cafe. The food is decent there, but not the best IMHO. I think it is good for a family dinner though.

yeah but if i wanted my kid to eat a grilled chesse or pb&j I'd just make them one back at the room...

Oh i'm not saying you were, actually I like EOS! It's just I was just put into the mentality that we're in WDW, try something above the common.

lol That's funny because I view Earl of Sandwich as uncommon. The sandwiches there are great and far different from anything I've seen around here. I am sure the kids' menu has to cater to the masses though and that is why they have normal sandwiches for kids. In fact, that's why all of WDW restaurants have chicken fingers, mac & cheese, pasta, etc. When I recommended EOS, I really was thinking of good food for the adults in particular.

You don't mention if you are on the dining plan. The only TS at DTD that accept the dining plan are Raglan Road, Planet Hollywood, Wolfgang Puck Cafe and Cap'n Jack's.

We are not on the dining plan, so anyplace will do. I am going to look into all of the places people suggested. I have always wanted to try the Rainforest, but I wasn't sure if it was worth it. They definitely would not like the dinosaur restaurant though - we have super girly girls!

If all else fails, maybe will just walk around Downtown Disney for a while and then eat somewhere by our condo. My girls are dying to go to the Lego store in DD.

Well Mcdonalds is right next door to the lego store if all else fails. I personally would do the rainforest cafe. Its so cool!

RR is great! Taking dcs (8 and 9) this summer. I think they'll love the music and dancing. It is pretty loud in there!
Wolfgang Puck Exp is an awesome counter service, btw. It is so good. We go there several times each trip.

Well House of Blues gets my vote. We have eaten at all of the TS restaurants(not PH) at DTD and this was definately the best.

Great food, fun atmosphere and friendly efficient service.

We have also enjoyed Raglan Road, T-Rex and Portobello.

Didn't like the food or service at the Rainforest Cafe but I hear its better at the AK location. Hated Planet Hollywood in Paris so I've not bothered to try the DTD version.

Wolfgang Puck Express is an excellent alternative as although its a counter service it feels much more like a TS restaurant. Good quality food everytime we have visited.

I agree also with earls of Sandwhich!! great counter service food-- wonderful now i am craving this right now!!!
