DH and I have been talking about eating in Morocco (either resturant) for about 15 trips now. We're fairly ambitious eaters and love to try new things. I was wondering if anyone who's eaten at either resturant could talk a little about their experience and whether it's worth trying. We fill our trips with dining reservations, so doing that would bump something else.

Thanks for the help!

I ate at Restaurant Marrakesh this past March. I enjoy trying new foods and am not a picky eater. I enjoyed the music and the service was very good, however, I did not enjoy the food very much. The tenderloin kabobs and the chicken kabobs were fine. I didn't care for the appetizers or the dessert. We had a good table right by the dance floor and the musicians. When the dancer came out, a large group of schoolgirls surrounded her and joined in the dance so that no one in the restaurant could see the belly dancer perform. I would prefer to eat elsewhere and watch the belly dancer perform with the band outside.

Hubby and I love Restaurant Marrakesh. It is our favorite at Epcot. The atmosphere is great, they have a belly dancer and music. The food is great, I usually have the Lemon Chicken with Couscous and they have this specialty dessert (although I can not think of it off the top of my head) that is fabulous. We really enjoy the resaurant and recommend it to all our friends that are looking for something new to try while in Epcot.

I ate at Restaurant Marrakesh this past January. Like you I had wanted to try it for a long time. My experience was just okay. I was a solo diner and they tried to seat me practically right on top of a large party. The hostess didn't seem to know what to do with me when I asked for a different table. Finally they sat me at a new table back by the kitchen. It offered a pretty good view of the entertainment, and was a good distance from the surrounding tables, so I took it. I decided to just order a few appetizers, the seafood bastilla and the beef brewat roll, both were good but not outstanding. I just felt like I did not get very good service the entire time I was there. I only saw my waitress once, my water glass sat empty for about 20 mins., and I just felt akward there being by myself. I am glad I went there, the room is beautiful and the entertaiment is worth seeing, but I won't be hurrying back there.

We just went there last week and it was AWESOME!!! I had the chicken kabobs. They were spicy, but not too spicy. Served w/rice. It was YUMMY. I didn't care for the dessert (Marrakesh Delight). Overall, a very nice dinner!

Marrakesh is a 'must do' for us.
Love the decor, although due to all those wonderfully colored tiles, the noise can reverb-

We like the Lemon chicken, one of us always gets the Chef's Special & roast lamb. The dessert sampler is nice with the strong Morroccan coffee. The Moroocan iced tea is light & refreshing.
We don't find the food at all spicey & suspect it is probably restrained for American tastes. We could use more pizazz, but then, we like the kick. :teeth:

Our servers have all been so nice & pleasant.

FYI, our big meal is at lunch, when we sit down at opening or after the lunch rush. We also travel during the slower periods~

We ate at Marrakesh. It's the only Disney sit down we will make a point not to return to.
The appetizers were good. I got the feast. Both of us who got Lemon chicken in some form on our plates had serious trouble. It looked like they had cooked it to begin the evening, and it had sat in warming ovens. But upon biting into it, it wasn't thoroughly cooked. It wasn't close. So it goes back. I got a new one, the other party didn't. She had only cut hers and discovered it had the same problem as mine. But when it did come back it had the same problem as above but at least it was cooked this time. It was ok, but bland. I know it's not supposed to make your mouth flame. But this was meat and 3, no spice quality. The lamb was good and flavorful, but that's hard to mess up. And it too had virtually no spice whatsoever. My wife had the kbobs and they were dry. Plus the sauce on em tasted like watered down Contadina with nothing in it. The children's food was horrid. I've never seen mine leave a burger and fries. Well I have now. I went thorugh the routine of warnign him I was going to taste it and he was in trouble and going to eat it after it tasted good. Cough cough gag. Uh have some of my lamb son. Have some chicken after i cut into it and make sure it's ok. Now if you want to duck into a place for a desert, The Crepes Atlas was very yummy. I loved it. The Band played for about 10 minutes, then the dancer comes out for about 5. After that she has the kids come out and dance with her for about 5 minutes more. It's nice if yuu can get a table in the middle. But if you're up on the ends, you won't be able to see all that well. We got the middle.
But in the end, the great desert and the entertainment just wasn't able to save it. I was wondering why that place was usually out trying to drum up business when everything else in WS was already full. Now I know.

My suggestion is, if you want Moraccan, eat at the Tangierine Cafe. It was our favorite counter in World showcase. We got the lamb and chicken shawarma platter. It had Hummus, cous cous, taboulleh, and both kinds of shawarma. with bread. We even got the sauce on the side.
Now if you've ever eaten a Gyro, this is going to remind you of that. But it's not the same. To make a long story short we loved it. We'll return.

We eat at Marrakesh each time we are at WDW. I love the beef kabobs, but the lemon chicken is good too. The beef brewat appetiser is amazing! I know some people think that cinnamon and sugar on top is weird, but I think it goes very well with the meat. Love the couscous, never eat desert there.

Service is not always the best. Is it a cultural thing? Once you get your food, the waiters always seem to disappear.

In a word... Yummy!

DH and I went on our grown ups only trip in Jan. (can't comment on the kids food) and we loved it. We had the berwat appetizer and the Sultan's platter (I think that's what it's called). We went at lunch, and it was empty- I'm talking 3 or 4 other tables. Even with that, the service was just *okay*. I had a dessert that was to die for (if you like almonds) can't remember the name of it, but it had layers of fried phylo dough with a vanilla cream sauce and almonds. Yummy! My favorite dessert of the trip!

Were you there on March 29? Because that's what happened when we were there.

I've been twice and still don't know what kind of review to give Marrakesh. I went last May solo. My ADR was for the first available table at opening. I arrived early for lunch and the hostess told me it would be a few minutes before they officially opened. I had a seat and then started talking to an older couple who had come in just behind me. Quite a few more people came in. Finally the hostess motioned for the older couple, then started seating everyone else. After about 20 minutes I approached her. She was so embarrassed. When she saw me talking with the older couple earlier she assumed I was with them and that she had already seated me. Excuse me, but we checked in seperately and hopefully under different names. Anyway she immediately seated me, the food was wonderfull, waiter very attentive, entertainment interesting and the hostess stopped by a couple of more times to apologize.

Last Dec I took my mom and again showed up a little early for our dinner ADR. Again lots of people who came in after us were seated before us. After watching this for about 30-40 minutes, I approached the man at the podium. He checked with the hostess who finally found our card in the trash and insisted she had already seated us. They were turning people away that night due to the Candleight Processional Pkg, so they figured someone that was turned away might have heard our name (while we were in the restroom) and just took our ADR. We were not eating there with the CP pkg by the way. When they finally found us a table I jokingly asked if since we had waited so long if we could have that empty table for two beside the dance floor. Instead she took us to the very back right hand side corner table where we were sitting next to the pole. We waited several minutes for the waiter and when he never showed up we decided we had had enough, so we just got up and walked out.

I was there March 3. I just assumed it was an isolated incident. I understood that the girls were just joining in the fun, so I wasn't angry. I also happened to be married to a middle eastern man and understand that the girls were just having a good time but I felt for the other diners who missed out on the belly dancing! That is a big part of the dining experience there and I'm sorry that others weren't able to enjoy it.
