As title says, I'm searching for a creative and crafty mind.

Our reception will be November 5th, 2007 back home in Michigan.
I'm really trying to stick with the whole Cinderella/Disney/Magical theme from bridal shower to the end of the reception.

Anyways :wizard:
Here is the part I could use some creative thinking help on.

I want to do centerpieces for the reception mimicking the whole pumpkin to carriage, mice to horses theme.
Pumpkins will be no issue to get a week after Halloween in Michigan, I am however having some trouble trying to think of a way to give the pumpkins the whole whimsical, magical carriage feeling.

Also trying to think of a cute way to incorperate the mice into the picture.

I know it's kinda cheesy, but we're both fun-loving and non traditional, and we're really taking the fairy tale theme and running home with it.

So if anyone has maybe done this, or knows good online craft stores, or has some fun ideas on how we could mount? carriage-ise? our pumpkins we're open to suggestions!

Okay...........bear with me..........

You can get the smaller pumpkins, hollow them out (for weight reduction), carve little windows, put a candle in the middle for the "glow effect". Then create a wooden base for the pumpkin to sit on.......paint that white......put wheels on to create the carriage effect. I believe if you look in a scrapbooking section or craft store, you can find small mice about the size of the tip of your finger, have the mice on the piece between the wheel and the pumpkin........... Then spray the whole thing with a silvery glitter spray paint.....giving you the effect of "magic from the fairy god mother". To keep the orange out of the pumpkin paint your pumpkins white first.......if you don't like the orange.....

Or for something more simple, look online and search for cinderella center pieces.........you will be amazed at the stuff you can find!!!!

Ooh! I had an idea! Several ideas! For the Pumpkin Carraige, paint the pumpkins white, and then spray glitter on them! Michael's Arts and Crafts carries little glass Slippers.. Hallmark Cards carries Disney Princess cocktail napkins, and a bunch of other cute Disney Princess things!

I'm sure this board will provide a ton of wonderful ideas!

You know...

Carving pumpkins for halloween every year and I never even THOUGHT of cutting out a window and putting a candle inside..

That is a really cute idea.

At first I thought of maybe just leaving the pumpkins orange since it would be fall, and they would be with the season and all.
But spraying them silver is a really cute idea as well.

Here I thought I totally racked my brain for ideas and right away someone had great ones!

I love all you Disney brides and brides to be!
So creative and fun!

OK, here is a Cinderella idea, but not for the centerpiece - it's for the place settings. We did something very similar with our place cards at our wedding reception at V&A's.

I bought some plastic slippers on Ebay, and we melted slits into them to hold the place cards. You could have a little plastic baggie filled with those little pumpkin candies, too, behind the slipper at each place.

I have some similar slippers to the ones you have.

Picked them up at a local craft store, just was trying to decide what to use them for.

I love the pumpkin candies idea as well.

Just to rip off Martha Stewart
if you take your pumpkins (med size) and spray them either silver / white
then using those light up Christmas white lights (battery kind)....and push them into the pumpkin from the inside so only the bulb is sticking out...and the wire is in the inside......you do it in a swirl row around the pumpkin...and it looks like a sparkly light up pumpkin
I probably explained it all funny....but it looked really cool in her Halloween magazine a few years ago....

You could carve a slipper or a heart or your initials into each pumpkin and light a candle inside!

Okay.... you are lucky because your wedding will be right after halloween and everything will be on sale!! I say, get the foam type-pumpkins (they make very realistic ones now!) and spray paint them white with silver glitter. Not sure how you would light these, but it would be less messy than real pumpkins, lighter, and a lot easier to transport/set up/etc. You could do them way in advance, too, whereas with real pumpkins you only have a couple of days of a window if you want to carve them. p.s. i don't think it's cheesy, i think it's adorable!! I'll be brainstorming for mice ideas....

just went to a wedding and i thought this was cute but i would change the idea a lil. instead of a flower on their lapel the groomsmen wore different disney wedding pins and the bridesmaids had them on thier dresses as well. i would still do the flower and use the pin to hold it in place. i know there are cinderella wedding ones bc of cinderellabration.

Wow...that's such a cute idea I had to go look it up...here's a site I found...

Good luck with whatever you decide...it should be cute!

You could carve pumpkin carriages, and glass slippers into the front of the pumpkins. Not cutting all the way through the pumpkin, I think, but more etching it out. Does that make sense? Disney has put out several pumpkin carving templates over the years, don't know if any of them are cinderella-y or princessy.. but you could look online for templates too.

Goodluck!
