I was in Walmart yesterday and noticed a flat screen 19" Vizio for $178! Was that a good deal or does anyone think it would be cheaper anywhere else, especially on Black Friday?

I am interested in this too!! I think the $178 is a good price but I'd like to know what others think about Black Friday.:)

Target has a 19" Sylvania in their flyer this week for 169.00 - better price and no Black Friday hassle!

I'd deal with Target before I deal with WalMart ANYDAY!

I'm personally looking for a 22" if anyone has in info!

Also check reviews - the price might be great, but it might be a piece of junk. DH hates the Vizio's and after seeing a friend's, I tend to agree. They've had it less than 6mo and the picture is horrible (and they paid A LOT for it).

I would have to disagree, we have had a vizio (46 in)for three years now and it has been great with a beautiful picture and no problems.
They have even come a long way in their product since our purchase and have gotten great reviews written up on them. They make a pretty good tv for affordable prices IMO. The prices have really come down on LCDs..

You do however need to look at the contrast to ratio numbers. The higher the better and you would want at least 720p on a smaller size, a 1080p is even better but they are just coming out with that on the smaller sets so the price might be higher on those.

You might see another same size lcd that may be less money but just check the contrast/ratio numbers and the number of hdmi inputs since everything is using hdmi cable now. In other words see what you are getting for the price.

...someone told me that most westinghouse, sylvania, and such are pretty much made from the same manufacturers or the components are the same.:confused3

We also have a Vizio - got it 2 yrs ago. no problems at all - love it! It's a 32" and at the time Consumer Reports rated Vizio as one of the top brands to buy in that size. We're looking to purchase a TV for a small bedroom now, and I'm looking mainly at Vizio again.

I'd advise to watch out for weird brands. We love our 3 vizios but we bought a cheapo Element for ds last xmas and it just stopped working in late Sept. Nine months is ridiculous for a television. This time we're going with vizio, rca, panasonic - something we've heard of.

I got DS19 a 37" Vizio for his 18th b-day. He'll be 20 soon and that tv is awesome!! DH was so mad at me!!! He wanted to know why DS got such a cool tv for his room and the tv in the living room wasn't as good!! :rotfl2:He only said that because that's the one he always hogs the remote for!!:rotfl2:

go to the website blackfriday.gottadeal.com and look on the left side at the bottom
where it says televisions. It will show you all the television sale prices for that day.
You can also go to the same site w/o the BF stuff in front and find current ads for
tv's the same way.
It's a great site, and they even mark the ones you can order online now at that price!

Buyer beware.

While some names (Panasonic, Sony, Samsung) are generally good, there are many brands we Americans grew-up with (RCA, Sylvania, Westinghouse, and Magnavox, among others) that are nothing more than licensed names for products all rolling out of the same Chinese factory.

Then, there's others like "Element" and "Apex" -- where you get what you paid for, and not much else...

over the weekend i got a 19" Toshiba flat screen with DVD player for $199 at p.c.richard - don't know if it is still on sale but i think it was a good deal
