I was thinking about getting this IPOD, but I'm not sure

These things definitely need some durability improvements. I have had 3 iPods and the battery life on all of them was less than advertised, and they all had shorter and shorter battery life very fast.

In addition they need to work on a plastic that does not scratch as easily.

All of these improvement would make listening to my entrance music much more enjoyable! :furious:

I know DH has dropped his iPod mini, but it works great. He's not had one problem with it. It's still his baby.

That's great except the battery life is awful, and even worse when you watch videos. I'd invest in a backup battery accessory that makes it much better to use.

Have the exact one you show and I love it. I did have one instance of it freezing up on me, but I let the battery run out and no worries. I attributed it to all the uploading I did that day.

The battery does drain a lot quicker when viewing video. I got a wall wart for charging on the go, because I don't always have a USB port at my disposal.

You definitely want a skin of some sort on it. Mine didn't have one for two weeks and it's got a few scratches, even with being in the provided sleeve and a wallet type pouch. Look around for 5G cases to find something you like. I got mine at everything iPod.

I got the video Ipod for Xmas and it's working great. I haven't spent a lot of time with it yet, so I'm not sure about the battery life. I am also treating it like a precious gem, so I haven't put it through and endurance test (i.e.dropping it). :)

That's what I had heard about these. I'm not sure if I want one or not, but I have a trip coming in up in 3 weeks and thought that this might be nice to have.

I've had my iPod Nano for about 2 weeks now - no problems, no scratches, no marks, works perfectly, sound quality is great. I haven't got a proper case for it yet either - it lives in my jeans pocket most of the time :teeth: I've even dropped it a couple of times by accident.

One review I read that I thought, IMO, was pretty ridiculous was one guy had bought an iPod Nano, put it in his coat pocket along with keys and loose change, no protective case either by the sound of it, then complained that it had a few scratches on it when he took it out of his pocket again. :confused3 What did he expect???

:)

Definitely buy a skin/case. I bought one and hated it, but then found one on agent18.com and it is amazing!

Buy a PSP and a 1GB of memory pro then you can rip movies to it. You can also get wireless internet if you have a WAP you can get to (including a neighbors if they arent running WEP ;) )

i <3 that I but the problem is u can't listen 2 it through the radio, so it is just like an mp3 player. get the original 3ogb. that is what i have and i <3 it

There are rumors that a new iPod is slated to come out this month or by the end of April, so you may want to wait to see the new features of that one, and the possibility of a price drop on the current ones.

Rumor: Large-screen iPod in the works
February 9, 2006 12:16 PM PST
Think Secret, an Apple-focused rumor site that has had some notable hits and misses, is reporting that Apple is "nearing completion" of a video iPod that would have two significant enhancements.
The new iPod will reportedly sport a 3.5-inch display, a substantial boost from the current 2.5-inch screens. Some of the extra real estate needed for such a roomy screen would be freed up by eliminating the scroll wheel--sort of. Instead, a digital click wheel would be used, "one that overlays the touch-sensitive display and appears when a finger touches it and disappears when the finger is removed," Think Secret reported, citing "sources who have seen the device."
When can we expect it? Late March or early April, according to Think Secret.
One thing that wasn't addressed in the posting was how the iPod would be oriented. The current models with 2.5-inch screens aren't large enough to hold a 3.5-inch screen when held vertically. So would the iPods get larger or would people need to learn to hold them horizontally, like the Sony PlayStation Portable?
And what about fingerprints? If the Nano is plagued by scratches, as many have complained, imagine the potential disaster that could result from requiring people to navigate by touching a screen that they also use to watch videos.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not sure yet, if i'm going to buy one of not, but I thougth it would be nice for the beach in 3 weeks. I really don't want to carry a portable CD player and CD's around with me.

Well I'm off to Target to get a few things for my trip and I will take a look at the IPODS there.

I'll never buy another hard drive based Ipod. my current 20 gig fried 3 days after the warranty was over. the guy at the apple store did replace it, but it has a 90 day warranty. I bought a 4 gig Nano and I'm sure apple will be rolling out larger flash drive units in the near future. get a skin with a screen protector.

If the video is not all that important to you try the nano or find a mini, I have each one, have never had any battery problems and IMO 1000 songs is enough to keep me occupied for quite awhile. Defineately get a protective cover, you can find off the wall ones that are quite a bit cheaper than the ipod site, I found some Rolf leather ones a JCPenney for 9.98 and they had a belt clip and also a snap hook on them. I ordered both of mine, through www.igive.com and then from there the Apple store, not only did my charity get a percentage but I also got free shipping and engraveing. I personally don't know what I did without my ipods! :goodvibes

I was looking at them when I was at Target and I think I will wait to see if anything new comes out this year.
