a digital camera before our trip...which one do you recommend? How many megapixels? Just want to print 4x6....but would like to be able to take them quickly in a row (with the red eye feature cameras are SLOWER than Christmas!)
Please share your comments & what helped you to decide....

I'm new to this, just bought one about 6 weeks ago. I'm really into photography, so I wanted the highest number of megapixels I could afford, because with my 35 mm camera (which I still use) I frequently enlarge to 8 x 10 and hang prints in my house. I bought a 6.3 megapixel, Fuji FinePix E550, 4x optical zoom, $315. Love it. If you're looking at no bigger than 4 x 6 pics, though, save your money and go lower on the megapixels. You can subscribe to Consumer Reports.org for like $4 a month, and on their subscriber's-only site you can look up data like how many seconds delay it is between shots, stuff like that that you seem interested in.

I have had 3 digital cameras....

A Sony Cybershot - two megapixel - that I LOVED

A Nikon Cool Pix 4300 - 4 megapixel - that was forced upon me and I HATED it - I moaned about that camera the entire year that I was forced to use it.

I just recently bought a Kodak Easy Share LS753 - 5.0 megapixels - and I adore it. It takes GREAT pictures, is really user friendly, and FAST!!!!!

I have a little HP Photosmart printer that I print 4x6 pictures on and it is great. I used my Canon printer for bigger pictures - I also use websites like www.snapfish.com and www.imageevent.com for photo hosting and picture printing.....

I had a Sony Cybershot (3.2mp) and liked it well enough, it was a straight auto camera. I upgraded to a Canon G6 (7 megapixel) and have to say I'm disappointed. The red eye is awful, and I haven't figured out much about its manual settings at all. I don't see any difference when printing a 4x6 on a 3 mp or a 7mp so if thats all you plan on printing I'd go with a 4 or 5 megapixel camera. My 3mp still printed decent 5x7 and 8x10 when done professionally (thru ofoto).

My friend bought a new Panasonic Lumix and ADORES it!!!!
