LOS ANGELES -- The son of TV psychologist Dr. Phil has proposed to former Playboy playmate Erica Dahm, one of the triplet Dahm sisters.

Jay McGraw, 26, got engaged to Dahm in Dallas, Chandler Hayes, a spokesman for Dr. Phil McGraw, said Monday.

Dahm exclaimed, "Oh gosh, is this real?" after the Aug. 26 proposal, Hayes said.

The couple will wed in Los Angeles but the date was not revealed.

Jay McGraw designed the five-carat diamond, emerald and platinum engagement ring.

He told syndicated TV show The Insider: "I asked her father for her hand in marriage first. I finally told my parents and they are ecstatic. She's the one I want to spend the rest of my life with."

Dahm, 27, and her two sisters appeared in the December 1998 Playboy. The trio were featured on Fox's reality show Renovate My Family, which was hosted by McGraw.

McGraw is a bestselling author of self-help books himself. They include Closing the Gap and The Ultimate Weight Solution for Teens.

Is it because he and his dad seemingly are wholesome and give family advice yet are being hypocritical somehow? Dr. Phil has commented on porn and some people consider Playboy to be porn, too.

I think I understand the hypocrisy ... Dr. Phil got into the health craze with his nutritional products yet has been criticized for being overweight.

I would say Dr. Phil is very family values and anti-porn. When he speaks to women trapped in lives that involve this he's usually pretty tough on it. Robin's world revolves around her son. She strikes me as a very conservative mom. I do think that in their family this will bring conflict. I would assume they'll treat their son like the adult he is and accept this woman into their family. But I do think this would be an issue. Sorry, it would be for me as well. I would have a problem with my son marrying a woman who millions of men have seen naked. And who felt the best asset she had was to capitalize on the fact that she and her fellow triplets were gorgeious and looked good naked.

It isn't hypocritical of Dr. Phil, because he isn't marrying the girl. And it isn't hypocritical of Jay McGraw, because he isn't the one preaching on national TV. So I fail to see the problem.

I don't see any problem either (of course, I'm a guy, so I guess that's no big surprise). While the woman may have done something some would deem questionable (not saying I feel that's the case), no one's perfect. If he's happy, so be it.

I wouldn't consider Playboy "porn".
