Well the mama never showed back up, DEP said to wipe a towel on the ground and wipe him down with it and put him in the field. I kept the kids inside all day (That was a joy!

) but no sign of the mom.
DH even walked the field and there were no signs of her, not even tracks in the hay where they walk. (we can usually see the path they take). So we called a lady who had 17 deer, she said the mom will leave for a few hours to feed and then come back but the baby would have stayed put. She also said if he got up and walked around and started crying then he had missed at least 2 feedings. She couldn't take him but got us in contact with a lady with 4 deer so far. We met her at Starbucks to pass him off, she said she had 4 more to pickup tomorrow.
DS7 was sad, he wanted to keep Bambi but we can't, we live on a busy road. And the lady said bucks are really hard to care for. But she said we can come visit him.
He was super soft and fuzzy, and even had a hidden mickey on his shoulder. It was destiny that we found him. I was torn, you know. I wanted to let nature take it's course and not intervene but I couldn't leave a defenseless animal out to die. We have rescued animals before, mostly birds. I couldn't leave him alone.
<SIGH> We'll miss him but we know he is in a good place. Thanks for sharing my story.
