Wanted to change my departure time and when I looked today the price went down $15.

I just checked our flights for Oct and the prices have not come down. They are still running close to $400 r/t per person. Ouch! I am still holding out for lower prices.

our August prices for Long Island are still very high, 2 1/2 times what we paid last year!

I am also from LI. I just purchased the flight to wdw with delta from LaGuardia at $102 per person. Sure beats the $259 SW wants for one way.

Tickets were $139 each way when I bought them, but now are $219 going down and $259 coming home for us. Last year I paid $89 each way after watching the prices bounce up and down for a few weeks. This year they just keep going up.

I hate Laguardia and will never fly out of there again, would only go out of JFK as we have in the past. We live on the east end of the island and for me, I'd rather pay an extra $200 for our 3 tickets and leave out of Islip. We get off the plane and we're home in 20 minutes.

Not for us. From SDF, RT per person on the flights I'm watching went from $366 to $454. Looking more like we're driving. Boo!

My sentiments, exactly. LGA is a nightmare to get to, and get around. JFK is not so bad, but I'm not crazy about long-term parking there. The cost of round trip car service (plus tip) is approximately $180, which would eat up the money saved by flying Jet Blue vs. Southwest.

So - all things considered - the convenience and lack of stress is why I'd much rather pay a higher price for a SW flight out of Islip. Twenty minutes, door-to-door, and a practically non-existent security line...what's not to like?!

My game plan is to purchase tickets this week for the flight down, at (hopefully) $144 per person. I'm going to hold off on purchasing the return tickets for a month or two, in the hopes that prices drop and I can apply the credit received for the price differential in the outbound tickets toward the purchase price of the return flights. We have some flexibility on the date of our return, so I'm not really worried about not getting on a flight.

And if the prices go up, instead of drop...well, then I have no one to blame but myself!

Another Islip lover. Although I was not very happy last night when we were stuck in Orlando for an extra 3 hours due to the flight delays. However, a little inconvenience is worth it to ensure a flight-worthy aircraft! Just wish all the little ones on the plane didnt take the delay so hard. They sure were loud!!!

I am also waiting for October prices to move. Good luck to all of us.

Seams the price reduction is occuring for flights from now till the end of June. So for those of you who have flight July or later don't give up hope and keep checking your fares.

We were debating whether to fly or drive this year since we have a new baby and 1100 miles each way with a baby does not appeal to us. We spent less than $800 rt last summer for the four of us on SW from Chicago to MCO. This year, they wanted between $160-175 pp each way! $1300 before fees! I looked at Chicago, Indy, and even BWI (have family that we'll be visiting in that area.) We checked out other airlines and were afraid we were going to be forced to drive.

After watching the prices rise over the last few weeks, all of a sudden, they came down this week! We booked for $103 pp each way and saved $500!

Keep checking. Last year, we found June airfare in January for the cheapest rate and never saw it come down again. This year, it was almost April when we were able to get June airfare for a price we were willing to pay.

Not for me! They went back up. Right now I am glad I bought when I did.

I'm a fan of Islip as well - even though I'm about 5-10 minutes from JFK. I have a relative less than 5 minutes from McArthur and I can leave my car with them. They drop us off at the curb and we're checked in and through security in 15 minutes. I'm hoping prices come down at some point, because the flight we wanted to return on is currently $259 - more than what we paid round trip each of the last two years! We had to book a flight for early the following morning (and we'll just crash at an airport hotel after checking out of WDW). And one day after booking that flight, it jumped from $163 to $185. If the $259 flight ever comes down, we'll try to change to that flight - but I'm not holding my breath. At least we got free flights down with Southwest Visa promotion.

I bit today. The nonstop flight to MCO I've been stalking for months finally went down from $214 to $169. Don't know if it'll get much better than that for me. Immediately after I booked 6 seats, the price went right back up to $214. I'm still waiting it out on a return flight, since it was still over $250 pp. My DH has 2 free roundtrips that just got credited to his account, so that will help, but I really hate this game of airfare roulette.

I cannot even get their site to work to check flights...:confused3

and its been happening a lot lately. Although I see they finally got the RR booking site fixed to allow one to book on their own rather than calling as I had to last week.
