I have jumped off the fence and BOUGHT DVC!!!! We took the tour on Monday, and Nelida found us August 2006 points, which works perfectly considering our habits.

Now waiting for the 1/24 announcement about DLR DVC!!!!!

I know some about DVC but what are you talking about with DLR DVC? Can't you use your DVC points for DLR?

You little sneak!! I have been wanting to for a long time, but I am waiting to see if I can actually purchase points at the new DLR DVC so it will be my home resort. Here's hoping!

You can but the point amounts are HUGE compared to DVC resorts in Florida. That's why I am waiting, I am hoping the DVC in DLR will have points more along the lines of Boardwalk and Beach Club, 11-14 a night! A girl can dream right?

I was going to buy in last month at WDW, but they couldn't accommodate us with a tour time. THANK GOODNESS! If you buy at DL, you get two free APs to either WDW or DL!!! HUGE perk!

I'm hoping for a DLR DVC, but it had better be at a reasonable point level! If not, I will continue to stay on Harbor, and save my points for WDW.

CONGRATS PATTIPB!:cheer2:

Are you just totally excited?!:cool1:

I sure would be! DH and I leave on Sunday for our first ever trip to WDW...

...and, we're staying at SSR! We want to check out the DVC resorts for ourselves and see how we like them before we make the investment. We're also VERY EXCITED to hear about the proposed DVC villas at the GCH. We would definately buy points there.

Also, the required points to stay at the DLR hotels has come down this year. To stay at the DLH, standard view, for a Sun - Thurs night stay is 19 points per night. To stay at the PP, standard view, Sun - Thurs night stay is 20 points per night, and I think the GC runs 24 points per night. Not too bad if you ask me.:thumbsup2 Of course the points required for a Friday or Saturday night is higher.

Anyway, even though I'm not a member yet, let me be the first on the DL board to say WELCOME HOME!
:welcome:

We stayed at BWV in 2004, and after that it was just a matter of time! If you're going to buy, DO IT AT DL FOR THE APs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can someone explain the whole points system to me? I know nothing of this. I asked in the DVC forum and I've only gotten a couple of PMs from sellers, so far.

Congrats, we have been wanting to do this for a long time! Still sitting on the fence waiting for the right time to jump off!!!

Very exciting news!

Open the PM from me...I'm not selling a thing!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I am with you Chief, I have found limited info. on this. I can't believe that DL can't be your home base for DVC, if I am understanding the other posters correctly.........seems odd. I also understand that there are maintenance fees that are paid too, in addition the the $15K (I believe it is somewhere around this). What I haven't figured out is how long is the DVC good for once you buy in?

Where ae these bldg how much are they what do they offer
how much do you pay for somebody to keep the area up Tell me more.
Can I only use this at a certian time

OK---I'm a new owner, but I've been studying this DVC stuff for 15 years, so I'll try to give a bit of info.

The contract ends in 2054 (47 years from now). It is a right to use---NOT a deeded timeshare like most (Trendwest, Marriott).

For 150 points with the promo ending 1/20, the cost is $12,900 plus $200 closing costs. Annual maintenance fees on that contract are just over $600 this year (probably will rise each year).

There is currently NO DVC location at DL, so you have to have a "Home resort" in Florida. However, the points can be used at GC or DLH, or a future DVC location if built in CA. The sales location in CA is strictly a "convenience" for us West Coast people to view a model room, and speak face to face with a DVC professional.

Did that help at all??? I'll try to help if I can---the DVC posters are a wealth of information, but sometimes hard to understand!!!

I've left a big space on the fence for you to remain FOR A LITTLE WHILE!!! However, the splinters in my backside make me wish I'd jumped sooner!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Thank you
I dont even live close to Florida. So no sure that would work for me and how does that help with DL

Thanks for the space Patti! I think I'll lie down on it and think it over some more. I'll be sure to put a blanket down to prevent those dreaded splinters. :rotfl2:

PattiPB, that is my big problem. I find it hard to pay the big bucks for something I have been looking into for years and could have gotten much cheaper had I not been such a fraidy cat!!! Kinda like I find it hard to wait in a 45 minute line for Buzz on Sunday, knowing I can go on it Monday with a 5 minute line!

Quick question, I already have AP's good for a while. Did they give you vouchers for when you renew? I wouldnt' want a new one now because I still have months left on mine? Thanks

Andrea

Hey, move over, you are crowding me! That's my foot you are laying on!!

No, really make me a promise right now that if I don't buy into DVC by 2008, you will push my big butt off the fence!! I am silly because I am renting 204 points for our April stay at GC, and that would be an awfully nice down payment on our own contract!!!

We're in that same boat also. We all just bought annuals. I wonder if they will give vouchers to be used at a later date.
