Look at the deal I got! (budget brag)

I think you budget boarders will appreciate this.
I've been looking everywhere for a new kitchen table. Anything new I could afford was garbage, so I stopped looking in stores and started obsessively stalking Craigslist. For months I llooked on there every morning, noon and night looking for the table I wanted.
Today I found it!
The table and four chairs were $100. Fifty years old. The table is solid maple and has three leaves to seat up to ten people. It's in pristine condition. A few scratches here and there, but for that old, I can't believe how good it looks.
The chairs need some work and look bad right now, so I bought these four modern chairs at Pier1.
So for $500, I got a table and chairs I thought I'd have to pay $2000 to get.

I emailed the seller five minutes after he posted it. He had twenty emails just in the twenty minutes I was there picking it up.

Can I ask who told you that table was Maple? It may be stamped Maple but that is usually the color not the wood.

It looks to be mahogany or cherry to me. I love those chairs with it, great choice. Mahogany is worth more than maple even though it will be veneer over solid wood and cherry is even better. Veneer is not a bad thing, furniture makers have been veneering furniture since the 1600's.

You should be able to get $15-$25 a chair for the chairs depending on the style they are, some are more popular than others. Since you bought new ones that look great with your table why don't you just re list them

I'm reupholstering the chair seats for extra seating, they tried to do the same thing, but failed miserably.

Sibley would be the company or the store that sold it and Venetian would be the line not necessarily style.

My friend finished her basement (it is literally 2000 sq ft- L shaped ranch) and wanted a table and chairs, she found a Pottery Barn set on Craigslist. It ended up in a bidding war! She lost the war, but found a different set that looks very nice. LOL
