Longoria - Parker divorce!

I had to wrack my pea brain while cooking to think of all the couples that have been married any amount of time. Here is what I thought of without looking for more:

1. Will and Jada Smith
2. Anette Benning and Warren Beaty
3. Ted Danson and Mary Steinburgen
4. William H Macy and Felicity Huffman
4. Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson
6. Ron Howard and Mrs. Ron Howard
7. John Travolta and Kelly Preston
8. Heidi Klum and Seal
9. Julia Roberts and her husband
10. Faith Hill and Tim McGraw
11. Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward

My pea brain couldn't taking any more strain and I didn't get to 20 obviously.

Here's several more.
I think all of these marriages at the top section of the list are going on 20+ years:

12. Kevin Bacon & Kyra Sedgwick
13. Mark Harmon & Pam Dawber
14. Helen Mirren & Taylor Hackford (he's a director/actor)
15. Jessica Tandy & Hume Cronyn (50+ yrs) :dance3:
16. Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman (27 yrs)
17. Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne (28 yrs)
18. Bill and Camille Cosby (45 yrs)
19. Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan
20. Kevin Kline and Phoebe Cates
21. Julie Andrews and Blake Edwards
22. Sam Elliot and Katherine Ross
23. Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara (56 yrs)

Less than 20 years:
24. Steven Speilberg & Kate Capshaw (19 yrs)
25. Russell & Goldie hawn (although technically not married)
26. Matthew Broderick & Sarah Jessica Parker (13 yrs)
27. Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas (11 yrs) She may become his merry widow.
28. Barbra Streisand and James Brolin

Some of those older couples are so cute. However, a lot of these couples have a person that is behind the scenes. They aren't in the biz directly or have taken a back seat. Which is what I said earlier about why some don't want to marry people in the business.

Yes some of them have both been working at the same time, but a lot of them don't. James Brolin, can't remember the last thing he did, and Babs had slowed way down. Michael and Tracy, don't think she does much, I think plays the mommy role, Pam Dawber, same thing. Ozzy Osborn, no one would have him other than Sharon. My point is, that it seems to me that most of these marriages are either much older people and maybe things were a little different, and the others seem to have taken more of a back seat role. These days, seems both are so driven that they separate themselves for significant amounts of time. Most marriages can't survive that, especially when these people are able to get pretty much whatever and whomever they desire at that particular moment.

Tony Parker was her 2nd husband.

If the San Antonio rumor mill is to be believed, it is an ex-teammate's wife. She is also getting divorced.

Ooh...I think I figured it out - Steve Nash's wife?

She just had a baby though....

You know something? Stuff happens. I've been married for many, many years and it's my second marriage. There was no way I was staying with the first guy but I won't go into that. I just want to say that things happen that you often have no control over.

Yup you are right. My aunt and uncle are on their 3rd marriage each but they have been married nearly 30 years to each other. Mistakes are made but that doesn't have to mean that any future marriage is doomed just because you are a divorcee.

Nope. E! said the relationship didn't go past texting but that the texts absolutely went too far.

I gotta talk to my friends in SA. For being a big city it is very small town. I haven't lived there in like 3.5 years but I still hear the gossip.

I read the story and it said that she was heartbroken to find that he was sending 'personal texts to a 'close female friend' for over a year and sent over a hundred in one month alone. :(

Age, distance and lots of time apart could be a factor, who knows. :confused3[/QUOTE]

:thumbsup2, that is so true!:sad2:

Thomas Gibson, of Criminal Minds, lives there. He films in L.A. during the week, then flies home to San Antonio each weekend where his family are.

They are saying that it was Brent Barry's wife.

Yeah it's all over the media now. Brent filed for divorce at the end of Oct. I obviously don't really know her but everything people have ever said about her is that while she is very pretty she is also very down to earth & unglamorous.

It's sad.

I miss SA. It is so small town. You see the NBA players around town all the time. I'd see Eva & Tony out for breakfast all the time. They lived very close to where I did.

If it is her, it's actually pretty shocking.

Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward

Who married something like the DAY after he was legally divorced from his first wife.

More impressive are the few who get married ONCE and it lasts. A lot of the people on that list have been married before or at the very least have kids with others. I don't consider a second or third marriage that lasts a decade or more much to be impressed by.

Holy junk, why not????

My mom was married to my dad for 14 years. The last 7 were awful.

My mom was married to her third husband (the second lasted 7 years, his choice, he was scum but she only found that out after they got married) for 13 years before she died. So the 13 years with the LOVE of her life wouldn't have impressed you?

Here's several more.

And Bruce Boxleitner and Melissa Gilbert, since '95. (I always think of BB when I read about Mark Harmon, so your post brought them to mind). 7 years between divorce and marrying MG, so I assume they weren't an item while he was married before.

I don't get the scorn towards celebrities/actors/actresses whose marriages don't work out. I feel for them. Sure they might have egos, you *have to* have one in order to make it through just ONE audition and then go for a second one when you don't get the first part! You have to believe in yourself, feel that you're the best, and yet face rejection at every turn. And then if you "make it", YES you're faced with temptation after temptation. Then you throw in the separation that goes along with the job (which is the reason I think many choose non-industry spouses, because they might have the ability to travel with their actor spouse more than another actor could), and it's a volatile combo. Then you've got the world talking in your ear...in a everyday marriage, most people don't criticize your spouse. But in the acting world, you're likely hearing criticisms all the time, especially if they are also actors.

Put it altogether, and whammo.

I just watched a friend of mine destroy her marriage with a smaller version of the above. Husband who never got the Career going that she wanted him to get (so she could quit and be home with the kids), continued "girl's trips" far away from him, with plenty of alcohol and girlfriends that didn't say "whoa, whatcha doing there?" when she responded to flirting, etc etc. She was tempted during all of those trips (despite her husband being absolutely gorgeous, sweet, and kind), and I think it led her astray. I'm glad she finally made a decision (even if it was to end the marriage) b/c the in between state just wasn't healthy. Now multiply her career differences, time away, and people tempting her away by about a million, and you've got the cocktail of troubles for a famous person.

I feel for them. It's got to be HARD to stick it out with all of that conspiring against you.

In the music world: Bon Jovi and his wife have been together forever and so have Billie Joe Armstrong and his wife Adrienne (see sig pics). Regis Philbin and Joy, Jay Leno and his wife......i'll be back...need coffee :surfweb:

Wouldn't be hard for me. Continued girls trips, Yep problem with separation, wouldn't do it, people tempting me, nope wouldn't give in. Sorry, but these reasons don't give me any reason to have sympathy for celebs. The only thing I can see is the career differences for you friend, that could be difficult. The rest ,she and celebs put themselves in that position and therefore deserves no sympathy.

And sorry, but as far as auditions, most are because they have this unnatural desire to be loved and adored by many. Just look at how many of them have messed up lives and childhoods. James Lipton once commented that celebs have the highest rate of divorced parents over any other career. Gives one reason to think about why they do into this field to begin with and why most don't ever want their kids to go into show biz. AT least the ones I have heard interviewed.

:( I feel bad for her.

I have no clue why any man would cheat on her! She's gorgeous!

As an actor and performer, I have to say I resent the tone of your remarks. Not all actors are screwed-up narcissistic self-absorbed jerks who have an overriding desire to be worshipped by adoring fans. Some of us just like the work (and that's when we can even get it), auditions are simply this particular business' job interviews, they're a necessary evil in my eyes. In my opinion any performer who says they really enjoy :goodvibes the audition process?...is probably lying on some level. Think about what it must be like to *always* be going out on never-ending job interviews...and that's only when you can get them.

agnes!

17. Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne (28 yrs)

Did you guys know that Ozzy was married to someone else, had a couple of kids, then left his family for Sharon? He was married, not separated, and as far as his wife knew, he was happily married. (from "The Talk" show, Sharon shared this when LeAnn Rimes' new boyfriend/fiance' ex wife was on there).

are we only talking marriages where both are celebs?

If not, two to add:

Chris Walken
Billy Crystal

I guess I should qualify my statement, but are you right there plopped in the middle of La LA land? These are the people I am talking about, are you an actual celeb or a working actor. My opinion stands as far as celebs go, sorry. Also, sorry that you resent my tone and remarks, most of them come from well documented studies. Sure there are exceptions but very few.

I never said actors enjoyed the audition process, where on earth did you get that from. This is why I said that in most interviews that I have seen with actors, they DO NOT want their kids in the field. They won't stop them but hope and pray that they don't want to.
