:wizard: Given the choice, would you rather stay at a better resort, or stay at a value for a longer time? :confused3 My daughter and I have stayed at the All Star Movies and then upgraded the past 2 years to the CBR...This coming August we have to decide if we want to go back to the CBR for one week, or stay at a Value for 12 days....any advice??

Stay longer. No question. :thumbsup2
I have no problem with the values, and I like that they save me money to be able to stay longer and do more things. :goodvibes

I personally would stay at the value resort and enjoy a longer stay. Our family does not spend much time at the resort. If you spend alot of time at the resort the upgrade may work better for you. Good luck in making your decision.:)

For me, no contest...12 days at WDW beats 7 no matter where I'm staying!
We love Pop and would stay there anytime.

We are faced with that issue every time we go - however I have decided that I will never give up a deluxe resort to stay longer at a value or mod. We stayed at Pop in March - our first and only value stay - where I learned several things about what makes a vacation right for me. Even though a bad day at disney is better than a good day at home, if I have to recover from my vacation what was the point. Since a deluxe is the only level where I can get a queen bed, it will be deluxe only for me, even if its a shorter stay or less frequent visit. I can't get a good nights sleep in a double bed and its not a vacation to me if I'm cranky the whole time because I'm sleep deprived. We have also learned that since I have to get back to work right away I need a more relaxing, less comando style vacation and I enjoy partaking in the amenities at a deluxe in the down time rather than just the pool at a value. Yes we could go to a deluxe with a marina or relax in a different resorts lounge, but I like the convenience of going right to my room after these activities. Yup, I'm a deluxe snob - its how I enjoy my vacation. However that's not for everyone. I think my mom would sleep in a cardboard box if it meant she was on disney property for a month. Me, I'm just a bit pickier.

Longer stay! DD and I usually stay at Pop and we love it. We each have our own bed. We like the food court and DD loves the pools. No reason to spend more when we love Pop! We did stay at AKL on a great AP discount one time and loved it, but not enough to pay that much more and have to have a shorter trip!

Stay Longer!!! I wish we could be able to stay for 12 days.
We have only managed 9 day trips and I don't consider the 2 travel
days, so it turns out in the end to be 7 full days of fun!:woohoo:

We were faced with this issue earlier this year as we were planning our trip. We originally had a 6 night trip planned for the CR, then we decided to switch to CBR and make the stay 9 nights. We leave in less than 2 months and we are so excited to go and stay longer. We only really sleep and shower at the resort, but I wasn't willing to go down to a value, but I will go to a mod.

Shorter stay - upgrade hotel. I can't IMAGINE 12 nights in a value! Sorry. I personally could not do it. I prefer to enjoy my vacation and don't consider the hotel "just a place to sleep as I run from park to park". I have never stayed deluxe, I'm not a snob. I just prefer the mods to the values and would definitely take a shorter trip if I had to choose.

Well for August 2008 the CBR main pool is being renovated, but all the quiet pools will be open.

The values wouldn't be a vacation for me, especially for 12 days. For a night or two I could do the less frills, but on vacation I want some frills. I need a hot tub and would even want access to a gym! So a shorter stay in an upgraded resort would be my choice. Also with a longer stay wouldn't you have a couple of non park days? Why not stay at a resort that has some activities right on site?

Is a short stay at a Value vs a Long stay at a Mod or Deluxe a choice? I think it'd be unanimous! :thumbsup2

I was forunate to have the 40% off room rate. I could have used it on values, moderates or deluxes. Sure I could have had a beautiful stay in Grand Floridian at a awesome price, but I only sleep in the resorts. I am a park person and like to go and explore. Choosing value made it possible to stay at Disney longer. WE are going for 18 nights, from Dec 18th - Jan. 5th /08 ! The entire time of our Childrens' Christmas vacation.

You betcha I stay in value if it meant more time in the Florida sun away from Canada's cold Atlantic side! What a nice way to break up our cold and long winter!

I think, as you can see, it's such a personal decision. I would pick the longer stay, but then again, I LIKE the value resorts. We're one of those families who go to Florida for the Disney parks, not the resorts. I think you should decide based on how much time you'll actually be at the resort and if a value fits your family's "style."

For my 50th birthday in Nov Im staying
4 nights at Pop (will do parks commando),
4 nights at Coronado (actually planned a morning to relax, pool, check out resort) and
5 nights at BCV (where I booked tours, planning on Stormalong Bay, etc)

Depends on whether or not you guys like the values. My dh & sons are all over 6 ft tall, there is no way we could handle 12 days in twin or full beds, just ain't gonna happen so I would upgrade and stay a shorter period of time.
I've never been one of those "it's only some place to lay your head" type of gals so I definitely need to be comfortable on vacation. Where I stay is extremely important to me.

Have you tried renting points for a stay at a DVC resort . Then you would be able to have both.. larger room and the long stay..(even with the studio you have more room )

I'm facing this as I plan next year's trip. I have tried really hard to convince myself I could be happy at Pop for 10 days........but I can't. The sleep deprivation of the double beds would kill me, and when Mommy ain't happy, ain't nobody happy! The kids and I will stay at Pop for the 3 or 4 days before DH joins us, then we'll move to WL for the queen size beds. This is the only way I can get my 10 day trip AND some sleep:).
