I have somehow begun quite a collection of Longaberger baskets. I admit I love and use them. We have a new (to us) house with light word colored cabinets and a bit of knotty pine and I think the baskets blend right in. But I just found the Peterboro website and can not believe the price difference. Is the quality the same? Plus I can't believe Peterboro has free s/h. I love that both basket companies make their baskets in the US which is important to me.

I don't know much about Peterboro, other than they are made of ash (IIRC). Longaberger is made from Maple. QVC used to sell them, haven't seen them for a while.

I have quite a few of the Peterboro baskets including small countertop baskets, large knittting baskets, and the laundry hamper. They are gorgeous and very well made. I get compliments on them all the time. Mine are the same color as my honey oak floors. I have never seen a Longaberger basket so I can't compare them. But in my opinion, the Peterboro baskets are definitely worth the price. I have also given them as gifts and everyone has loved them.

I have one Peterboro basket and have given several for wedding gifts! Love them! Make sure you sign up for their e-mail!

I've always gotten Longaberger. We're not far from Dresden, though. That was my mom's favorite day trip when I was little.

I think it's in my blood to buy Longaberger. Agree about the prices, though. Things have gotten insane recently!

May have to look into these Peterboro baskets...

I have some of both, and I like them all. I think it depends on why you're collecting the baskets -- if you're collecting for appreciation in value, go with Longaberger. If you're collecting things you love, I think many of the baskets are similar, and you should go with what you like better. Personally, I think Peterboro has more interesting baskets, but Longaberger has a wider product line, and I like a lot of the non-basket things they produce.

I think Longaberger is a sturdier, better quality basket. I have one Peterborro and the price is more reasonable but I can tell the difference. I may be a little biased since I live in Longaberger land.

I've got numerous Longaberger baskets but never owned a Peterboro but just looked at their site and am tempted due to the dramatically lower prices!

I have a very early peterboro picinic basket! Its held up wonderfully! I found it at a flea market for 12$ its very very nice!

I just can't believe the difference and they have free s/h!! I know I will be trying them out eventually. Maybe not to put in the same room as my Longabergers but I am sure I can put them to use.

I like the shapes of the Longaberger and I want to keep with all the same wood. Hoping to get some of the iron furniture too.

I'd fall back on the old adage: You get what you pay for

I love my Longaberger although I did stop buying them years ago, way too spendy. Now I always check the thrift stores and occassionally I'll find one. Got a key basket for 99cents a few months back

Wow! Those kind of deals would never happen in the part of the country.

I have a bunch of Longaberger as a neighbor is a consultant. BUT I just saw the peterboro had free shipping and 10% off code on the site- I'm going to try them. They are so very much less expensive.
I do use my Longaberger ones all the time though. I do want a tray. Maybe I'll try a Petterboro one- oh and the picnic caddy is cute!

The Maple wooden splints of Longaberger's baskets are narrower than the Ash splints on Peterboro baskets. Also, the Longaberger weaving is much tighter. I have many beautiful Longaberger baskets, but only some of the Peterboro baskets. They are all beautiful......
