Long weekend trip

So we(me, DM, DS11) are going to Disney, arriving lunchtime on a Thursday and leaving Monday morning. Yes, its a quick trip, but better than nothing. I wanted to take advantage of free dining, but as a teacher just starting back to school a few weeks earlier, 2 days off(Labor Day Weekend) was all I could score. We will be at the parks when they open, so that will help some. MGM was just a waste of time for us last trip, so we are skipping it altogether to do Disneyquest.

I keep seeing people say that you need at least a week to do the parks. We went for 5 days in March(crowded) and were okay, so I am hoping this will go as well. Who has done a quick trip, and how did it go for you?

So far, here is my plan:

8/31--arrive noon--DisneyQuest for DS11--rest and relax by pool

9/1--Magic Kingdom with ADR at Chef Mickey's for dinner

9/2--Epcot with ADR for Le Cellier at 4:20(all that was left)
possibly DTD after dinner

9/3---Animal Kingdom with ADR for Donald's at 10:30 and Whispering Canyon
at 6:40

9/4---Breakfast at Pop and then hit the road

Totally doable. The last 3 trips I've gone no longer than 4 days! I'll only do the long weekend thing now.

Thanks! I keep seeing people going for 10 days and 2 weeks and it makes me wonder what I am missing! I mean, we will be moving constantly, but I figure we can rest AT HOME!

I did 3 1/2 days last October and this is how it worked:

Thurs--Animal Kingdom to about 2 with Lunch at RainForest--EPCOT since it was EMH. We got everything but Soarin' and Test Track done in Future World, then hopped over to the Showcase for the rides, and dinner in China where we watched Illimunations from Nine Dragons as we ate dinner Even got in a second ride on Spaceship Earth as we were leaving

Fri--MGM in the morning, we chose to forgo the all shows but Muppetts 3D and were on our way to MK by 2:30--MK we grabbed a mid-afternoon counter lunch, then hit Fantasy Land, Liberty Square, and Adventure Land, we FastPassed what was neccessary and then stayed for the Fireworks. We managed to go back to POFQ, catch the boat, and be at Planet Hollywood for dinner by 10:30.

Sat--MK in the morning where we got done Tommorrowl Land and all its rides done by noon. We had time redo our nostalgic favorites in Fantasy Land and make a 1 pm ADR at Tony's. We then hopped the train over to Frontier Land where we decided to forgoe Splash and it's 4 hour wait, but got in Country Bears, BTM (twice!), then after riding the train through Toon Town we monoralied over to--EPCOT for Food and Wine. My traveling buddy then headed back to MK for the second night, where I took my time meandering around World Showcase and did 75% of my X-mas shopping.

Sun--EPCOT we had 4 hours so we headed back and hit Soarin', Test Track, Spaceship Earth (again !). We then grabbed lunch at the Counter Service place by Innoventions, and were back at POFQ in time for our 2 pm Magical Express reservation.

Yes, we slept on the bus to MCO! And yes I was back at work on Monday morning with a major in hand.

I wouldn't reccommend commando style for your first trip, (I still have nightmares from doing it when I was 7!) but for Veterans it's totally doable.

This year we're aiming for what's almost 5 full days, but we're tossing Keys to the Kingdom and Everest in with that!

We do quick trips all the time since both of us are in new jobs. All the three day weekend holidays. And some weekends even shorter. Leave here Friday after work, go halfway, stop for the night, get to a park Saturday around lunchtime, spend all day at Disney World until we can't take it anymore, go to the hotel, leave and drive back all day Sunday.

The way I see it - any trip, no matter how long or short - is well worth it.
