Just wondering what others are up to this long weekend. It looks likes it's going to be another hot one here in southern Ontario. There's some rain in the forecast, but I'll believe it when I see it. It seems that all of the storms this summer have skirted right around us.

My DSs are in a year end wrap up tournament for baseball. DS7 plays tomorrow morning, then he's done. DS9 plays in the afternoon. Depending how that one goes, he might play again in the evening. Depending on how that goes, he might play on Sunday. So, we haven't been able to make any plans, because the only day we have off is Monday.

It seems that all of our friends and neighbours have gone away. Even I'd we didn't have the tournament, we'd probably be staying home because we're trying to save money for our trip to WDW in December.

What are you doing this weekend?

I woke up this morning with the failure pangs of a kidney stone ... 2 weeks before we head to our Cruise and AoA trip :(

I am hoping to get over it by the time we leave, so this weekend will be lots of water , Motrin, rest.

...this is NOT a long weekend. Monday is not a statutory holiday: all the stores are open.
What am I doing on this long weekend that isn't?
Working. All three days. All hail retail.

Is Boxing Day a stat holiday? Yes. But retail and some other businesses are open. It doesn't have much to do with places being closed. May 24 weekend, come down to Niagara Falls, everything stays open because of tourists. Stats and stores being closed don't go hand in hand.

It IS a long weekend. One of the busiest on the roads. Many people enjoy the 3 day weekend, and get away.

My plans = working. I will be enjoying watching all the tourists from the comfort of my roaming truck. And if you get sick, I'll pick you up. On the paid holiday. I will enjoy the extra money on my pay check:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Hope you enjoy your son's baseball tournie encinc!! Gonna be a hot weekend for baseball:cool2:

And hope your kidney stones dissipate before your Disney trip and Cruise bdoyledimou:goodvibes

Can't wait to meet you Saturday!!

Nothing.
There is a local festival this weekend but it was so stinking hot today we decided to skip it. I'm glad we did. I would have just spent money that I should be saving for the trip in 3 weeks.
I also want to have my house completely cleaned and organized before school starts up again. We get back from vacation the day before.
I started with one drawer today and before I knew it I was ripping apart closets and bagging things up to donate and dusting ceiling fans and arranging things.:confused3

I love coming home to a clean house, it eases the post vacation blues. So I'll spend the rest of the weekend doing those jobs that need to be done.

No big plans for our family either. Like some of the other posters, we leave in 3 weeks for Orlando (and have another trip planned for Christmas :cool1:) and just did a Toronto mini-getaway mid-July........so the budget says stay put this weekend.

We have actually used the opportunity to scratch some to-do's off the list. We finished our DS's back to school shopping (thank you, Staples sale :thumbsup2) as we are away the last week of school vacation (coming home the Sunday night of the Labour Day weekend). Like pigletto, we did some closet cleaning, sorting out our DS's old clothes and stuff to give away to a local family who can use them (they have four kids and a very limited income so they are very grateful for the hand-me-downs). We cut the lawn on Friday evening (hoping it rains today as promised........fingers crossed or it will be burned to a crisp again :headache:). Today is housecleaning day, which is a weekly thing. I like to chase out the dust bunnies at least once every seven days (yep, just call me a clean freak .... 'tis true ;)). Then tomorrow, DH has to work in the afternoon (for overtime....like MedicGoofy, it brings in some substantial extra funds for the upcoming trips), and DS is going to the beach with the other camp staff from our local YMCA. I will be enjoying some peace and quiet with the cat :worship: .

Our lives are sooooo busy sometimes, I must admit I love a weekend at home. Its therapeutic.

Here's hoping you feel better soon. What rotten timing. :headache:

We had a family BBQ yesterday, for the rest of the weekend I'll be washing :laundy: what I want to bring to Florida and packing. We leave a week Monday for Ft Lauderdale, then WDW :yay:
