My husband claims that when he went to WDW opening year he enjoyed lunch as he watched the country bear jamboree. I don't believe he knows what he is talking about (he is part crazy you know). We went in November and they said that the Country Bear Jamboree had not changed since it opened, there was no food served while we were there. He finally admitted he may be remembering wrong and then his mother came to spend the holidays and she said "Do you remember eating lunch with the Country Bears when we were there opening year?" She's part crazy too but I am willing to admit I am wrong if I can get confirmation from someone who is not part crazy and can validate this memory. Was it ever possible to eat a meal while watching the country bear jamboree? Alaska Dogcat, as you are part crazy, you are ineligible to answer this question. :teleport:

As stated above, I am ineligible to answer this question. But I do clearly remember visiting the MK in 1972 and having lunch while watching the Country Bears. Since I was six years old at the time, it made quite an impression. As I made plans to return to DW this past November, I kept mentioning to my DW that I wanted to go back and have lunch with 'those dancing bears.' She gave me the 'you're crazy but I love you' smile and just nodded. When we finally arrived at Disney, she took me to see the Country Bears who were the same bears, but I clearly remember there being a restaraunt around the experience the first time. Am I (and my mother) the only people who remember this?

The Diamond Horseshoe Saloon is in the vicinity of the Country Bear Jamboree. Until recently you could eat lunch and watch the show there (not the bears). Tables and chairs were set up on the floor in front of the stage.

He is probably thinking of the Diamond Horseshoe. However, the Mile Long Bar used to connect Country Bears to Pecos Bills which may have even been known as the mile long bar. Been too many years, and I was only 11!

I remember the mile long bar, and I do associate food with CB. But, perhaps it was just "next door".

I dont specifically remember food but I remember sitting at tables. I have always wondered if I was confusing it with another attraction as well. But it is a very vivid memory.

I do remember, in 1976, as we exited from the bears, into Mile long Bar, Buf, Max, and whatever the other head is called, were singing. they were at the exit of the attraction in the bar part, as well as on the wall of the bears. Other than that, you may have been at Diamond Lil's.

I too seem to recall some audio-animatronic heads (maybe just one)on the wall in the mile long bar(the theater emptied into the bar). There was great continuity between the attraction and the restaurant.:earsboy:

We ate at Diamond Horshoe Review in 1973 - Unfortunatly, I was too young on that trip to recall the Country Bear Jamboree. I don't think there was food at CBJ, but I could be wrong.

I also remember the heads talking on the wall at the Mile Long Bar. I went in 1976, but I was only 4!

The Country Bear Jamboree has not changed, it has always been housed, just as it is, in the theater location. As others have stated, they did have the 3 animated "trophy" heads in the Mile Long Bar counter service area, and that is probably what your DH and his Mom remember.

I think Chuck has nailed it here. :earsboy: It would be easy for a small child to remember the Mile Long Bar with the heads as being part of the attraction.

My dh and his mother clearly remember the 3 heads on the wall and I agree that to a child it may have felt like a continuation of the show. It seems that my DH was both right and wrong but I think mostly right. I knew I could count on disers to clear this up. Thank you. :cool1:

I went as a kid the year it opened and I don't recall being able to eat in Country Bears. I think the others are correct that it was next door.
