I collect pins in general, have done for years and having done a bit of browsing today, I have realised I can trade in WDW when I go in November.
I just have a couple of questions.
I'm a big fan of Figment the dragon from journey into imagination, having done a search on pin pics he seems to have a lot of pins, so I'm going to try to collect him. Am I more likely to find them in EPCOT or will they be all over?
As I was collecting when I went in 1992 and 1997, I bought quite a few then. Are the older pins more desirable or in essence worth more? I have pin 82 on pin pics which I wouldn't trade but I'm just curious.

Welcome to the world of pin trading, not just collecting, fellow Figment lover. There are quite a few of us enamored by Figment. Yes the older pins are rarer and therefore, sought after. If you are looking for the new releases 9 times out of 10 you will only find it in EPCOT. (there are the rare times he is sold at the other parks). As far as trading goes, you can find him all over property.

The easiest way to determine how valuable the pin is: take the number of people trading and divide by the number wanting. Anything below a value of one is good. The closer you get to zero, the better. For example your pin #82 has 52 trading and 304 wanting it! That's 0.17. Just don't try equating it with monetary worth IMHO. On-line auction sites can get crazy. I personally would not take those 1990 pins down there, unless there is a serious pin meet going on. Trading with a CM one of those would be crazy and the sharks at DTD would eat a new trader alive.

Thanks for that. I don't think my current collection will be traveling with me unless I got some random Disney ones that I have picked up along the way. I'll probably pick up some starter sets or have a word with people I know to see if I can get hold of any before I go.
