Long term rentals - any ideas?

Hello ... we are currently staying at a Windsor Hills condo and my parents are loving it! They are contemplating coming down for a full month next year. Anyone have any ideas on websites or where to look for long term rentals? Most owners tend to base their prices on a weekly rate (we were just quoted $5079.36 for the month based on a nightly rate by an automated email from the Windsor Hills rental website!! :scared1:)

I just wondered if anyone knew of where we would find owners who are interested in longer renters!

Thanks so much :)

Hi Kerri,

We stayed at WH for 3 weeks (last week of November and first 2 of December). We did the request off their website and got back a lot of responses. Some were very high and others more reasonable. We reviewed the responses and then started negotiations.

If your parents want a condo there, you can put in another request for quotes - as you should get a bunch. And in the notes section, why not add that you want it for a month (if you didn't).

If you want to send me an email, I can tell you who we rented from. It was a townhouse so may not fit their needs but we were happy with it.

Smiles,
Shillee

I agree with VRBO. You will speak directly with owners, many of whom do not live in Florida or the states and bought the home as an investment. With the volume of homes now available, plus the economy, many are desperate to fill their weeks. You will be able to negotiate a great rate on a condo or a home.

Thank you for the suggestions! I am going to continue the search for them!! The owner of the condo we are in right now in WH offered a rate of $1800 which I thought was a pretty half decent rate compared to some of the rates we have been quoted!!!

For the last two years, my mother has rented a condo in Jan/Feb from Blue Heron Beach Resort. The cost is about $2,050 per month but to get that rate, you have to stay a minimum of 1 month. After that, it's just a daily rate of about $62. This is for a 2 bedroom condo. You will need to phone the resort as this rate isn't reflected online.

It is located near the intersection of I4 and 535. One end of the condo overlooks a lake and wooded area while the other side overlooks WDW. My mother has been very pleased with this place and is planning to stay there again next winter.

The first year she stayed here, she rented from a condo owner found on VRBO... at that time, there were quite a number of different owners renting at this location.

The website is here http://www.blueheronbeachresort.com/

If she wants to stay at Windsor Hills you should put the request on the windsorhillsrent.com and make sure you specifically put what you want or you'll have owners of 6 br homes replying also. It's a listing site just for WH owners and the request will be sent to all that are specified.

If she doesn't mind being outside from Orlando (NW approx 1 1/4 hours) I would highly recommend looking into The Villages. It's AMAZING!! My parents go for a month every year and love it!

Last year they rented a 2 bedroom house with a lanai + a golf cart. Included in rentals at The Villages is unlimited golf at their 35 golf courses. There are 2 town squares offering free entertainment each night where people go a socialize, dance and just have a great time. Truly The Villages is a Disney for adults - just an hour from Disney.

Oh yes, and the house my parents rented with all of the above was $1600 for the entire month and that included the unlimited golfing!
