I've been enjoying Steve Runner's podcast during my LR. I get a little tired of just listening to music.

Any other suggestions for podcasts you enjoy that will make my LR go by a little quicker?

There is a podcast I listened to a couple of times that involves a guy who tapes himself talking about running while he is running. It was pretty interesting, but not enough for me to stick with it. I have to have my tunes. Anyway, it is called phedipidations or something like that. I know I have horribly misspelle it, but it is available on iTunes. If you brouse around running podcasts on iTunes, I think you'll find it.

About the one you mentione (Steve's, I think) - What was it like? Did you recognize any of the songs? Did they have lyrics, or was it just techno-music? I've thought about giving that a try, but haven't yet.

Have fun running!

I listen to 2 pod casts, neither long enough for the long run. The first is WDW Today and the other is Five Hundy by Midnight which is about Las Vegas. The Disney one is only about 25 minutes and the Las Vegas one about 40 minutes.

I might do a couple of the Disney ones and an LV one interspersed with music. But, I have to save them for a few weeks so I have enough to listen to.

Enjoy,
Duane

If this is the "podrunner" pod cast, I use it all the time! It is just music and I generally don't recognize any of the songs, but the consistent beat is a wonderful training tool. I listened to it when I did the 1/2 in Chicago last month and all of my mile splits were within 3 seconds of each other. I know that consistency came from walking to the beat.

We are talking about the same Podcast. Steve Runner does the Phelipadatis podcast.

I like it because I'm not a big music guy. It does not take my mind away from the hurt. Steve has interviews, stories, etc and that works a little better for me. It's more like a short "books on tape".

Guess I will have to give podrunner another try.

I'm running the 1/2 in Chicago on September so will need something new for one. I don't think my XM will work in the downtown area.

I did my LR today listening to Steve Runner's Phedippidations; I thought it was great! It was my first experience with podcasts. I too can get tired of listening to music all the time when I run. Today I listened to topics covering marathon nutrition/hydration and the Galloway run/walk training method; thought it made the time of my LR go by more quickly. :thumbsup2

I discovered podcasts about 6 months ago and have quite a few I listen to when I travel. (I have to have music when I train -- it's that beat thing.) My favorites (other than the Phe-I-can't-spell-it one already mentioned) are Fitness Rocks (which covers healthy living topics like managing weight, cholesterol, blood pressure -- you'd think it would be boring but the guy expalins all these studies so even I can understand them), EndurancePlanet (which is a series of interviews with marathoners, triatheletes, cyclists, etc.), and Burning 20 (which was initially about a guy trying to lose 20 pounds in 20 weeks through eating right and exercising).

I'm always looking for more. Good thread.

I will have to check some of these out. Thanks for the ideas.

I just downloaded up a couple of CarTalk shows. I love those guys and have enjoyed their shows.
