If we are going to participate in one of the Disneyland Half-Marathons, do you recommend saving up for one of the on-site hotels?

That will add a bit to our funding needs, but if it's a better idea...

Thanks in advance!

I don;t think it's necessary. I wouldn't stay on site just because of the race. You might choose to stay on site for other perks if you are visiting the parks.

We stayed at HoJo for the half in 2010 and my friend I felt safe walking across to the start at like 4am... plenty of people were walking too so it was fine!

If you can find a hotel close to the park you should be fine. A lot depends on whether you feel you will want to walk a couple of blocks to an outside hotel once you've run the race.

Thanks. I stayed at HoJo a few years back, didn't feel the walk was bad at all.
LOL, I'll bet there were a lot of people walking then. Big race!
:)

Good point! I won't be doing the half, but my daughter will. (I will be doing the 5k the day before.)

We might look into staying on site just because it would so cool. We have a year to save up, so that's a goal.

We stayed across the street at the Desert Inn and Suites a few months back and it was lovely! Very close to the front gates! That being said, I think it would be VERY cool to get to stay at a Disney Hotel too sometime. We decided that next year, we are going to take the kids back at Halloween time and we are gonna splurge on the Disneyland hotel! I can't wait to see the looks on their faces when they see those bed headboards and that monorail pool!!! :D

You do not need to stay onsite. We've done the half the last two years and stayed at the HoJo. I even walked by myself one of the mornings with no worries whatsoever. I would rather spend my extra money on souvenirs etc, but that's just me.

BW Stovals is a good option too for a GNH. It is on Katella by Paradise Pier Hotel...which is where the starting line is.
If you want to get a room onsite, my best suggestion is o bring a senior with you. They get the best discount available year round.

Dang, I had my mom with me. I could have had a discount last race. :rotfl:
