Today was DH's day. He had previously informed me that I could not "run him" every day. As if! Ok, we all know I would have run his as# from sunup to sundown if he had not set limits, so good for him. It was good for me to take a few hours to rest. I guess.
We slept in and then skipped breakfast. I am not sure what the reasoning behind us skipping breakfast was--that's what I get for being so slack in posting this. And sadly, now you will never know either.
We headed to DTD about noon (NOON? I'm reading from my notes here. WHY did we skip breakfast?) and parked near the big croc or alligator or whatever it is. DH wanted to eat at Planet Hollywood, and since it was His Day, I kept the DIS reviews I'd read to myself. A very nice CM took what turned out to be the worst picture of us ever right in front of PH. She was a little too concerned with getting as much of PH in as possible, when really I would just have liked to have one of us together, never mind the cheesy background. That is one drawback in not going with a group--the number of pictures of you & your SO is confined to the number of strangers you have the balls to approach. I am not a big approacher, sadly.
For lunch, I ordered the 1/2 rotisserie chichen and DH had the surf & turf. I also had the Gorillas in the Mist mixed drink, a combo of banana and chocolate and some kind of booze. Maybe rum? Probably rum, as it had no effect. I know how to handle my rum. Vodka, now, is another story.
We then cruised from store to store. I was enjoying wearing some flipflops for a change, and not having on a hat. I think I may have had eye makeup on today, but apparently it wasn't important enough for me to write down in my notes. Shawn's sinus infection was getting him down a bit, but he was enjoying DTD and handling it well.
We got popcorn & milk duds and watched Van Helsing. I know, I know, but it was His Day. What would you have done? I thought Van Helsing was soooooooo boring, but he liked it ok. I think this was due to Kate Beckinsale more than the movie.
After the movie I unleashed DH on the lego store. He loved legos as a kid, and apparently still does. I got fresh with an unappreciative Jaundiced Lego Man (see my sig) and Shawn took an amazing picture of Lego Nessie, redeeming our camera from its earlier failure with Tink. We also checked out World of Disney, where I got a cool wooden photo album for myself and some more gifts for others. The Toy Store was great, esp. the Potato Head and Lego stations. Got some more ornaments in the Christmas store, too. By this time it was starting to dawn on me that we were going home soon, and it made me sad. No matter how much you try to live in the moment, and appreciate each thing, time still passes so quickly.
Since retail therapy was not helping my blues, it was time to try a soothing sundae. I got a caramel sundae at Ghiradelli and DH got some kind of cone. I wish I had written it down, but I didn't. Then DH went back to the Lego store to get a souvie for himself, and we popped back into the PH store so he could get an OC Chopper shirt for his dad, and a shirt for himself.
Back to the hotel to rest for a bit, and then dinner at the Dolphin Fountain place. DH was not feeling well, and I was depressed about our impending departure and not up to choosing a better spot for dinner. I had a grilled cheese, bacon, and tomato sandwich (no.more.hotdogs.please.no.more.hotdogs) and DH got chili cheese fries and a chili dog.
This was a nice, relaxing, laid-back day, the kind I never expected (or wanted) to have at the World. But we had a good time, and I am glad we experienced DTD, another first for us both.
