So the past few Days I was visiting a friend from college in NYC and came home yesterday... the train ride was sopose to be just under 5 hours.... well....... here is what the status on amtrak.com says...

49 New York-Penn. Station Utica 4:35pm
The train is late by 1hour and 58 minutes.

I felt bad for the people going all the way to Cleaveland, OH on the train... they were already going to get there @ 3-4am ish, but they porbaly didnt get there untill 7ish (just checked on the train on the website and it was sopose to arrive @ 4:32am but it was late by 2 hours and 15mins...)

the best part of this trip was when i was looking online to see if i wanted to take the train or Bus... i thought to myself "Oh, the train is about $3-4 more, but it gets there 30mins faster then the bus..."

hehehe... welll.. it was a fun experence..... it was my first trip by train... and while we were stuck in Albany for an hour, i got of the train and ran into a girl I grauduated with, and haven't seen in over a year :)

ok.. thats it for my rant now :p :p

Sounds like a long but interesting ride!

Yikes. I am not a patient person and waiting is not one of my stronger suits.

BTW - Cleaveland is actually spelled Cleveland, but there is an interesting story behind the correct spelling since the town was indeed founded by Moses Cleaveland. The story of how the "a" was left out of the name is found at the following link:

Glad your trip turned out OK.

My son just spent two weeks travelling around Europe by train, he loved it :)

i came home from washington d.c two nights ago by train (amtrak) i was supposed to get to boston at 4:30pm, but the train broke down somewhere between d.c and philly and stopped for 1/2 an hour, then we had to wait in ny city while they replaced the engine....it took FOREVER!!! i finally got home around 7pm. :(

I doubt that many people in Cleveland knew that it used to be spelled Cleaveland. I just like to take the opportunity every now and again to exploit the educational aspects of the DIS.

I owe you a debt of gratitude by the fact that you mentioned Cleveland in a post and didn't make fun of the city.

NOTE TO SELF: Trains break down often and run late.

Well this thread is NOT helping my headache!! I am travelling with the Girl Scout troop that I lead to Savannah next week on "the midnight train to Georgia". Didn't know there really was such a thing huh?;) We leave at 1am and are supposed to arrive in Savannah at 9:40am....with our first activity being scheduled for 10:30!!!! So what you are all telling me is not to count on making it to that first activity! Yeesh!!!
We will have fun no matter what.
