Long Islanders - School Thursday?

A two hour delay or the whole day cancelled? What ya think? I figured not many districts said what the were doing yet and its getting late! As I am typing this the principal just called - NO SCHOOL THURSDAY! That answers that.. I bet the Island will follow suit.

So, any announcements for school closing tomorrow?

Hofstra's open so far.... we're not happy. It's been terrible on campus today, but half the school is commuters... and then the professors who have to get in, as well... not good.

Still waiting to hear whether DS7 has a 2 hour delayed opening or closed.

I'm just hoping we can get out tomorrow. We have our internet through Cablevision and the wire between the poles is drooping down between the pole and both of our driveways (on my side it's hanging down, on DH's side its now on the ground). And of course, Cablevision can't get here until tomorrow to put it back up It makes it a bit difficult to shovel out behind the cars when the darn cable wire is burried.

We have a 2 hour delay here but my brother teaches in queens and all those schools are open.

We had a 2 hour delay until 9:15 tonight and then after talking to the bus company they decided to close for the whole day. The school I teach in is also closed.

I grew up in the Longwood school district and now live in NC. I am laughing at the thought of a two hour delay. Down here, if it snowed that much, school would be closed for a week...BEFORE a flake ever touched the ground. In fact, last weekend it snowed and school was closed every day last week except for Thursday. Then it rained on Thursday night and they were worried it would be icey on Friday so they canned school on CFriday too.

Back at Longwood, we used to run outside with rulers when it snowed. Less than 4 inches and school was happening. Wonder what the rules are now?

Longwood has a 2 hour delay tomm. My son goes to a private school that is closed, yeah!!

Hofstra has a delay - all classes before 12:30 are canceled. Why not just cancel the entire day?

DS's school is CLOSED. DS7 will be happy. I'm guessing their Valentine's Dance is cancelled as well (which we were not going to this year anyway).

You know, I don't mind shoveling fluffy snow, but I can't STAND it when the snow is wet . It's so much heavier and harder to shovel.

My dd's school is closed for the second day..also my office is closed for the second day.

Well Our school are closed here on Long Island but my DD had to drive to her school in Brooklyn early this AM. She said the roads weren't that bad.

Adelphi University is open today. My daughter is not pleased, but she lives on campus so has no excuse!

DH was telling me that the roads to Stony Brook University weren't that bad either. Hopefully, it won't take him an hour or more to get home tonight for a typical 30 minute drive.

I just finished digging out what the snow plows left in the driveway . Man, are my muscles starting to get soar.

My school district is closed for 2 days in a row. I don't even remember the last time that happened. They finally got a new superintendent, who seems to be a lot smarter about snow then the last one!

Stony Brook cancelled all classes before 12:50. I don't have any classes on Thursdays anyway, so wooooooo for that!

Yeah, DH was telling me about that. I asked him how he knew since WALK didn't have it on their web site. He told me that it gets texted out to everyone. He works in the HSC library so he had to be in today.
